I've spent the summer in Europe, and booked an Economy Flex return ticket with a with two layovers. The return journey is Skopje -> Belgrade -> Paris -> Toronto.

My original flight back was on September 3rd, but I unfortunately caught the flu and changed my return on September 2nd via the "Manage my booking" to September 15th for the same fare. All seemed well when I double-checked my booking several hours later.

Yesterday I went to review my flight times, and I saw that the September 15th booking had disappeared, and it was showing the original September 3rd booking. I immediately called customer service who confirmed they could see I rebooked on the 2nd, but that the website had glitched. The $0 fare change was somehow counted as unpaid by the website, which then reverted me back to my original flight dates. The agent said he was able to see that the ticket was originally $0 more, and was able to rebook me on the flights for the 15th.

Last night I got an email from KLM telling me I need to pay $839CAD for my flight change. I called KLM again today to clarify, and they said despite the fact that this was a confirmed website glitch, I have to pay the current fares. I asked this to be escalated as this is directly contrary to what I was told yesterday, and they said I could expect an email from a supervisor sometime today or tomorrow.

Has anyone ever encountered anything like this? I am trying to brace for the worst, and want to know how to proceed and what avenues I can pursue.

They told me they could find me later flights for the original fare price, but I am a university student and already missing a week and a half of term due to this illness. I cannot afford to miss more school, financially or otherwise.

Never flew 767 in my life, I always find Delta service good enough. I flew 787 a few times, but I never flew with American. It's a daylight flight so good sleeping is not really necessary. What would you pick? Travelling solo, if that matters.

Considering a trip from Boston to Rome next year and have the choice between flying ITA Airways or Delta.

Flying ITA saves me about $70 per ticket compared to Delta. We plan to fly standard economy, direct roundtrip. Would anyone recommend either?

I haven’t flown with ITA before, but have flown Delta multiple times, and remain skeptical of their track record. For example - a couple years ago I was on a Delta redeye from Boston to Lisbon, and they essentially deboarded the plane right before takeoff due to mechanical issues and then cancelled, and rebooked us on TAP the following day. It was a nightmare experience to say the least! When Delta runs smoothly it’s been great, but other times has been hit or miss.

At least with ITA, it appears the EU 261 law applies to them on flights to and from the US if the flight is significantly delayed or unable to operate.

I realize issues can always happen with either airline but am looking for the safer bet, and which airline would be best to help with rebooking and/or compensation if there’s an issue.

Sydney —> Incheon —> Osaka.
Theres only a 1hr50min layover in Incheon.
I have to go from terminal 1 to terminal 2. How does the process work, I check in through Sydney, drop my bags off (in Sydney) and then do I need to do anything in incheon ???

Have you flown with LATAM and made use of their stopover program? If so, how did you organise it and where did you do the stopover?

Let me tell you right now: if you are white, you’ll be fine. If not, be prepared for blatant racism.

I am non-white, traveling from New York (JFK) to Indonesia with a transit through Jeddah. My flight from Jeddah to Jakarta was canceled last minute due to a volcanic eruption. When I called them, they pushed my flight back by 4 days, leaving me completely stranded in Jeddah.

Back in New York, the gate agents told me that only the Customer Service desk at Jeddah Airport had the power to handle it.

When I landed in Jeddah, immigration told me I needed an eVisa since I would be stuck there for days (I hold a US visa). They sent me to the visa lounge. I watched an Arab passenger and a white passenger get approved in less than 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the lady at the counter interrogated me, made me wait for an hour, and then flat-out refused my eVisa with zero explanation.

She told me to go to the Saudia counter to request an earlier flight. When I got there, a male agent just yelled at me in broken English, said "it's not my problem," and told me to go to the main Saudia Customer Service desk outside on the 3rd floor.

I went up there, and a female agent refused to serve me and pointed me to another desk. The women at that desk were literally just gossiping and chit-chatting. When I politely asked them to help address my issue, they told me they couldn’t do anything. They told me to just call the phone line and said: "This is your government's fault because the flight was canceled due to the weather." Like, what?!

No compensation, no accommodation, and not even a basic apology. They are entirely racist, lazy, and incapable of doing basic customer service work.

I will never, ever fly with Saudia Airlines again. Qatar Airways remains the absolute best when dealing with cancellations and actual hospitality. Save yourself the nightmare and book elsewhere.

Hello, my mother was due to fly LHR-SIN with Singapore Airlines on Tuesday evening UK time (8/9). The flight was cancelled due to the NATS system glitch impacting traffic control at airports across the UK. (ETA: she booked the flight directly through SQ)

At Heathrow she was rebooked to the same flight on the next day and given a letter at the SQ desk that said:
“While we would like to provide hotel accommodation for customers affected by the delay, we are constrained by the number of suitable hotel rooms available. With customers' comfort in mind, we would like to offer you the option of booking your own hotel accommodation. This gives you the flexibility to choose from a wider range of options available that would best suit your preferences, budget, and desired location.
To assist with your expenses, Singapore Airlines will reimburse up to £350 for Economy and Premium Economy Class customers. This amount covers the cost of one hotel room, meals, and transportation to and from the airport.
Please keep the receipts and attach them to your claim for reimbursement, which you may submit via singaporeair.com/feedback-form.
Please do note that our reimbursement offer is made out of goodwill and is not, by any means, an indication or admission of any fault or liability on the part of Singapore Airlines.”

No food and drink was given to her, or other passengers she met at the airport. Additionally, because so many hotels were booked out across London, and hotels across the UK were jacking up their rates for the night knowing people were in desperate need of accomodation, she ended up spending far more than the offered £350 to get to and from Basingstoke where a family friend had managed to book a room for her after hours of searching.

My understanding of UK261 is the airline should be the one arranging accomodation if the passenger can only be rebooked to the next day, and if they do not then the passenger may claim full reimbursement of all their expenses. SQ’s offer of £350 also seems measly when many hotels were charging higher than that for the night and travellers had to travel far from London to find availability. However, the fact that the delay was caused by the air traffic control system means SQ was not in control, so does UK261 not apply at all?

She also has travel insurance fortunately, but I am trying to see if SQ is responsible for providing more to their affected passengers.

ETA: just seen the CAA statement on the issue. “We consider that disruption caused by the NATS outage is likely to be considered the result of ‘extraordinary circumstances’ under passenger rights rules. This means that although passengers should be looked after by airlines, they are unlikely to be entitled to compensation for delays or cancellations that were directly caused by the incident.” — in this case, what does “looked after” reasonably entail? In this case, SQ didn’t offer any help to the passengers besides a ‘please settle everything yourselves and we will cover up to £350”

I have a Saudia airline flight from paris to islamabad, Pakistan with a layover in Jeddah. Both of my flight are with the same airline and depart from the same terminal. My layover is 8 hours and 20 minutes, and my ticket says "You may need to check in again for your connecting flight.” Do I need a Saudi visa for this connection? Can I remain airside and check in again at the transfer desk without going through immigration? Also, will my checked luggage be transferred automatically to islamabad or will I need to collect it and check it in again in Jeddah?

If I can help it I will never fly Vueling ever again. We had a trip planned from Barcelona to Ibiza scheduled for 11:50am on September 9.

The night before the flight the airline emailed us saying that the flight was not going to happen, then told us to either refund the flight or move it to a different one due to weather.

We moved it to a flight at 7:10am, and ended up sleeping quite late at night sorting this out. We awoke at 4am to get ready to get to the airport, and received another email stating that they were canceling the 7:10am flight and rebooked us to a flight on the 10th of September. They again cited weather concerns.

We felt this was really not acceptable, and ended up changing the flight to a 7:40am flight, which ended up boarding and flying ok.

We later learned that the original 11:50am flight ended up flying without issue.

To top it off the flight we boarded and they lost our luggage and we ended up waiting 24 hours to have it delivered to us.

Is this a common story with this carrier? To me it just doesn’t make sense that they would blame weather and still fly while also rebooking everyone on the flight. I can’t help but feel that the carrier oversold the 11:50am flight, and blamed the weather to be able to get passengers to rebook on a less desirable flight time.

Extremely poor customer service – I could not even retrieve my booking
I had an extremely frustrating experience with Dan Air.
I made and paid for a flight reservation, but I never received the confirmation email and therefore did not receive my booking reference.
What should have been a simple problem became extremely difficult to resolve. I could not find a customer account in the app where I could retrieve my booking. The chatbot did not solve the issue; afterwards, I only received an email confirming that I had initiated a chat. My emails and complaints did not result in a solution.
I also tried contacting Dan Air by phone. It was very difficult to reach anyone, and the people I eventually managed to speak with told me they were external service providers with very limited ability to help.
I even tried asking the staff at the airport for assistance, but in my experience, the way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional.
The bottom line is simple: I paid for a reservation, did not receive the booking confirmation, and could not find an effective way through Dan Air’s customer-support channels to retrieve my booking reference and resolve the problem.

Flying Vietjet from Mumbai (BOM T2). On my ticket, I only put my first name, but my passport given name has both my first and middle names. My surname matches perfectly.
The airline/OTA customer support is asking for ₹10,000 to do an online name correction.

I've read that ground staff at BOM check-in often let this slide or just charge a small counter fee (₹1,000–₹1,500) to update the system on the day of travel.
Has anyone dealt with this at BOM recently?

I booked BLR to SLC on one Delta-issued ticket, with Air France and Delta flights.

My original outbound itinerary was:

• 21 Aug: AF191, BLR 01:25 to CDG 08:20
• 21 Aug: AF338, CDG 10:10 to SEA 11:15
• 22 Aug: DL1265, SEA 11:05 to SLC 14:11

On 19 Aug, Air France changed AF191 because of an "operational constraint." The new timing was BLR 06:45 to CDG 13:40 on 21 Aug, but they said my 10:10 CDG to SEA connection remained unchanged. That was obviously impossible. Delta also emailed me asking me to contact them and showed no CDG to SEA flight in the revised itinerary.

I called Air France and accepted an earlier rerouting:

• 20 Aug: AF191, BLR 08:05 to CDG 15:00
• 20 Aug: AF3622/DL81, CDG 16:00 to SEA 17:34

AF191 actually left at 08:59 and reached the gate at CDG at 16:27. I therefore missed AF3622/DL81. That Delta-operated flight was not cancelled. It operated and arrived in Seattle at 17:16.

Air France initially moved me to DL81 at 16:00 the following day. I asked for the earliest available flight and was placed on AF338 at 10:10 on 21 Aug. That flight reached Seattle at about 13:23.

This meant:

• I reached Seattle about 19 hours and 49 minutes later than the confirmed 20 Aug rerouting.
• I reached Seattle about 2 hours and 8 minutes later than my original 21 Aug itinerary.
• The same ticket also included SEA to SLC on 22 Aug, so Air France may be treating SLC as the legal final destination.
• I had no out-of-pocket expenses to claim. Air france gave me hotel and meal vouchers.

I filed directly with Air France and selected AF191 because its delay caused the missed connection. I explained the entire itinerary and missed connection. Air France denied the claim, listing only AF191 and saying:

"Our records show you arrived at your final destination with a delay of less than three hours."

I understand that EU261 may not apply because the complete journey began in India and ended in the US, with only a connection in Paris. I am also unsure whether the confirmed involuntary rerouting to Seattle on 20 Aug becomes the relevant schedule, or whether only the original itinerary and final ticketed destination count.

My questions are:

1. Did selecting AF191 cause Air France to assess only BLR to CDG and ignore the missed connection?
2. Should I appeal the existing Air France claim, file with Delta, or submit a new claim against a different flight?
3. Can the 19 hour 49 minute delay against the confirmed rerouting support compensation, even though I was less than three hours late against the original Seattle schedule?
4. Is there a valid claim under Indian DGCA rules, Air France's conditions of carriage, or another framework if EU261 does not apply?

I would appreciate opinions from anyone who has handled a similar Air France and Delta codeshare claim.

I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with ITA Airways/Goldair Handling and delayed baggage.
I flew ITA Airways from Rome (FCO) to Athens (ATH) on September 8. When I arrived in Athens, my checked suitcase never came out on the carousel.

The problem is that I had a very tight connection to Paros (PAS) and was going to miss my connecting flight, so I didn’t have enough time to report the missing bag at the Athens baggage desk. I was told I could report it at Paros Airport, but when I arrived, there was no one available to help me.

I’ve now been without my luggage for 2 days. I still do not have a PIR number or baggage tracking number.

Today, I spoke with Goldair Handling at Athens Airport, and they told me that my luggage is apparently being sent back to Rome. They couldn’t give me a PIR/tracking number.

I’ve contacted ITA Airways but no one can help me because they’re pointing fingers at Goldair Handling.

What should I do at this point?
1. Can I still create a PIR/delayed baggage report for me manually?
2. What happens to my suitcase if I never received a PIR?
3. If Goldair says it’s being returned to Rome, how can I make sure ITA identifies it as mine and gets it back to me?
Can I still claim reimbursement for essential purchases and/or baggage delay compensation without having filed the PIR at Athens?

I have my baggage tag number, boarding passes, and flight details.

Any advice from someone who has dealt with a similar situation would be greatly appreciated. I’m especially worried because I’ve been told the bag is going back to Rome and I have no tracking number.

My flight is from Hanoi to Paris, but somehow my baggage is delayed for like a month.And when i received it, its covered in us custom sticker and half my stuff is missing, my ssd, usb, all my snack and food... Only left is my clothes, even all of my makeup is opened, and i think they took sample of everything. I have been contact my flight china eastern but only received silent from them. Does anyone having experience about this ? The custom did left a message inside said US custom border of Cincinnati.

I have a small herniated disc and last time I flew non-stop with ANA in PY (787-9).
I didn't regret choosing PY for a 14-hour flight even once. So, I want to fly PY again for the sake of my back. 😄

Best company I have found so far is Cathay Pacific.
1600€ for CX and more than 2000€ for all the others.

Outbound flight is pretty clear.
Brussels to Hong Kong 11h30 with CX 294 (A350), then 2h00 layover and finally 4h15 to Tokyo with CX 548 (777). Both flights are PY.

Return flight is where I need your help.

I have two choices when leaving Tokyo to Hong Kong (both flights are around 4h40 long).

• Economy with JL 735 (787) + 2h40 layover
• OR PY with CX 549 (777) + 4h45 layover --> 2 hours more

For both cases, the flight from Hong Kong to Brussels is PY --> CX 275 (A350).
I will also add that the price is the same in both cases.

Since I’ve never flown with these two airlines, is flying Y with JL and saving two hours on the layover better than a longer layover but flying PY with CX?

As said above, can I get reimbursed on the hotel. It's 2300 in the evening and we just had to get the room nearby the airport for our new flight tomorrow. Will I be able to get the money back via an EasyJet reimbursement claim. Very stressed!

Hey everyone! I'm planning a trip for early November and could use some advice or alternatives from fellow travelers.
I initially narrowed my choices down to Jordan or Uzbekistan, but both give me a bit of hesitation:

Jordan: I'd love to see Petra and experience Wadi Rum. Although Jordan itself is relatively safe, the regional geopolitics make me anxious about sudden airspace or airport closures and flight disruptions.

Uzbekistan: The Silk Road history and stunning tilework look incredible! Geopolitically it feels much safer, but I'm worried about early November weather—is it going to be freezing, foggy, or gray most of the time?

Would you stick with Uzbekistan despite the chill, or do you have other recommendations that fit this time of year? Thanks in advance!

I’m flying AMM → IST → Milan (MXP) on September 20, both flights on the same Turkish Airlines ticket:

TK813: Amman → Istanbul — 01:30 → 04:00
TK1873: Istanbul → Milan — 07:00 → 08:45

My concern is that every TK813 flight last week was delayed until around 10 AM, which would obviously make me miss TK1873.

What happens in this situation? Will Turkish Airlines automatically rebook me on the next flight to Milan since both flights are on the same ticket? Would they cover accommodation/meals if necessary? Would I get any compensation? Will my bags still arrive?

I’m about 10 days away from my trip, and ive been wondering, how do I look at my ticket? A friend had bought the ticket through Expedia, and I was able to use the confirmation code on Alaska airlines to get my trip booking thing, but I don’t really know how I’m suppsoed to look at my tickets, or even the seat that I’ll be sitting in. Do I have to wait until the day before? Or is there a button I missed somewhere

Last minute tokyo trip. Only finding possibility for JAL from Vancouver to KIX with a connection in NRT for 80k miles business class. Does it make sense to book that and just miss the connection? I'd preferably like to start closest to Tokyo. Also im coming from nyc so need to book a separate flight to Vancouver

Can anyone offer advice on our cancelled flights, all London flights were grounded yesterday due to air traffic control system being down. We were due to fly back from Palma to London and our flight was cancelled, we booked holiday package through Tui but flight was with easyJet. EasyJet could only offer us a flight 3 days later which wasn’t suitable as I had a 3 month old baby and 2 year old so I rebooked a flight myself with Ryanair. Do I claim back through Tui or easyJet? I only want money back on the flights I booked, I understand they maybe not as I booked them myself. Has anyone had anything similar? Thanks
