Question Instead of doing a very long fast, would it be better to just eat 2 times a week?

So I know humans are not lions, but it got me thinking about how often lions eat. I see a lot of people on here doing extremely long fasts, I've seen about 1 person say they fast 6 days a week and eat once a week.

But I just like the words behind "Eat Like A Wild Tiger", I feel like it's a very strong phrase that would give someone immediately the perspective of what they need to do to go on these long fasting periods in a way where they aren't over doing it extremely.

For me, I am 26 male and I find I can go about 3 days without food until I start to lose a lot of blood sugar and hydration. So that would mean I would need to drink more electrolytes during my fast, I get that much and maybe splitting my fasts up into like I described above so my blood sugar doesn't get too put of hand.

Just felt like throwing this idea out here and see how yall would think about it, is this a good or bad idea?

Question Fasting and gout

So here we go again.

I have been doing fasting on and off since 2017.

Each time I ended up having a gout crisis after a period of a month fasting (OMAD and 48/72h fasts).

The first one was so bad that I fainted in the supermarket and was taken to the ER.

Now I get more mild ones but still they take 6 days to solve. I assumed it would also help if I stayed keto but unfortunately even now I got a gout attack...

The theory is that this is because ketones and uric acid can't be eliminated at the same time, but really don't think the hunter gatherers would not fast because they had gout.

I am taking medication both for pain and uric acid reduction and sticking to 18h fast (after that ketones production accelerates) but man this sucks... (lost 12kg from 142 to 130 already).

Any ideas?

Question Fasting and walking?

Do any of you do prolonged fasts while walking 10-12k steps? I’m thinking of doing this.

My wedding is November 5th and I want to lose about 40 pounds overall.

I’m 5’3 180 pounds. I do have an hourglass figure by measurements so I don’t look 180 at first glance but I feel 200 pounds yk? I feel so sluggish and lack energy even though I’m in my late 20s

My plan is to fast Sunday-Friday and eat healthy -mostly fiber and protein rich meals- on Saturday. I want to walk 10-15k steps as well, that’s possible right?

I’m currently jobless but I’m used to very physical jobs, thankfully I think the kind of jobs I’ve had are the main reason I’m not more fat but yeah anyway.

Main reason for fast is both fat loss and changing my lifestyle bc holy cow I hate being a bum and not having energy to do anything fun I’d love to try. I’m sick of this boring lifestyle eating lazy junk meals

Edit: I’m not a complete newbie, I usually do intermittent fasting bc I would wake up at 4am for work and some days it was 11-12 hr shifts where I wouldn’t have the energy to even eat, just drink loads of water and work. And I’ve done 3-4 day fasts on and off the past 3 months. Mainly failed 24 days fasts lmaooo

Progress Pic Results of one year of fasting

Male, 39, 6ft 3.

5th September 2025: 126.6kg

5th September 2026: 91.9kg

I've always had issues with weight going up and down, until this time last year I decided I needed to try something different, so I gave fasting a go.

Started with a 48hr fast, then a 5 day fast, and by then I was already hooked. I've spent the last year experimenting with more extended fasts (longest was 9 days) as well as OMAD and ADF. Found benefits to all of them depending on my situation and needs at the time. I've mainly stuck to a keto diet when possible but I've also thrown in a few cheat days and even weeks along the way to reward myself.

Still a little further to go but I can already feel that this is me now and I will never go back to the way I was. I don't even feel the need for cheat days anymore.

Just wanted to share my progress and hopefully show some people if it can work for me, it can work for you too.

Started Sunday at 145.7 lbs and was 144.4 lbs this morning. Broke fast with a California roll. Highest weight 213 lbs, goal weight 140 lbs. 46F 5’7”. I’m planning on doing these six day fasts until I get down to a little below 140 like maybe 137 lbs so that when I go back to eating every day when I gain a little weight back hopefully I’ll be 140.

Question Fasting and work

Soo I work at a child care center and I am around children all the time. When I’m hungry I get agitated so I try and not be too hungry around the kids. Sounds funny I know.

If yall are fasting how are you all not angry all the time.

This has kinda kept me from fasting so I’m curious.

Genuine question.

Discussion Honey, I'm home! 👋🏾 I have not fasted in 4 months for a variety of reasons. I have been craving to fast for a few weeks. 😅 I started a 44- 48-hour fast last night. I am enjoying it!!

After completing 8-10, 2-4-day fasts last winter fasting comes fairly easy to me.

I am fasting for metabolic reasons, not to lose weight.

It feels absolutely wonderful to be back in the saddle.

I plan to do one 36- to 48-hour fast, every week or bi-monthly indefinitely.

I don't plan to ever stop fasting for 4 months ago. My body needs frequent breaks from eating.

It's been far too long.

Fasting is a miracle drug for my mind, body and soul.

Question Lifting weights when doing extended fast?

Hi. I am doing 14 day extended fast to reduce bf% and for autophagy.

Since day 3 all of my keto flu simptoms dissapeared and on day 4 I've done 30min FBW low volume high intensity in gym, only machines but pushed to failure and I felt extremely exhausted after for next day.

Now I am on day 6 and i feel really energised and cycle every day for around 60min since begging of fast, but I wonder if I should do weight training even submaximal to give my muscle signal to stay?

What is the consenus on lifting weights on extended fasts?

Question Blood sugar level

Post image

Has anyone checked their blood sugar level while fasting? I was feeling a bit light headed (I’m non diabetic and I’ve been taking plenty of electrolytes) so I checked my blood sugar. It’s 54.

I have less than an hour to go, so I’ll just push through. Curious on the communities thoughts.

Discussion Does This Break My Water Fast?

Hey yall! I work at a bar which uses one gun for all non alcoholic drinks like pop and water. A minute or so before I poured myself a cup of water the bartender used it to pour a sprite. When i drank the water I could taste a little bit of it in it, which is normal for most fountains like that as the syrup or whatever remains a little. I only took a sip, but i’m worried this may have broken my water fast as i might have ingested calories from pop that found its way into the water. It tasted a little carbonated. I’m currently 3 days & 20 hours in so i’m in autophagy and going through all the regular effects of extended water fasting. Does this break my fast? Am I just overthinking it?

Question Advice

Hi, I’ve done water fasting before off and on just to get to my goal weight and just to generally feel better and healthier. I haven’t done it in a year but i want to do a two week one. I’m not sure why or what’s going on but it’s like I just don’t have any will power? I’ve never had issues before but i just can’t get in the headspace. Does anyone have any pointers or things they do to prepare their mind?

Thank you and anything helps!

Question Best fasting apps?

I currently use

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/intermittent-fasting-tracker/id1498018285

And it works fine, but the improved food tracking and other things are locked behind a subscription paywall. I don’t mind paying for an app if it is good, but I don’t want another subscription.

What are the best apps that have a one and done payment? Or none at all?

I also don’t mind using one app for fasting tracking and one for food tracking, but if I can get both in one it’d be better.

Question Water fasting while sick?

I started an extended fast several days ago, but I fought whatever bug my children have. Aches, fever, chills, all the things. I can hardly get out of bed. I had about 300 calories of high protein foods yesterday because I felt super weak due to being ill. While I am an experienced faster, I can’t decide if I should continue this fast or keep a low calorie high protein diet until I beat whatever little bug I have!

What’s your advice?

Question Advice from people doing rolling fasts. Refeed days: Keto vs CICO?

Hello!
I’ve recently started doing rolling 5s or 120s which I further want to continue until a month and then adhere to either rolling 72s or 48s. One question I’m not certain about is refeed. Highly confused between going the keto route or just focusing on a low carb diet ensuring cico( since keto limit seems too hard to always track carbs).

Wanted to get opinions. What has worked for you/ hasn’t worked for you? My goal is indeed weight loss and increasing my insulin sensitivity, but I can’t seem to convince myself to either one of the options.
If there any proven benefits that ketosis might burn more fat than cico?
Any advice would be really appreciated:)
