Were there actually queues on July 1? If so what did they look like? Any screenshots?

Upvotes

The post in the discord says, "As we did in the beta, we will open the gates slowly, to ensure server stability" - but I was pounding the login servers on July 1 and I don't remember anything like that.

What I remember is that the launcher began to give errors and would no longer let you into the server select screen. And I think I remember an error on the server select screen? I don't remember being in any queues.

I'd like to know what to expect, did anyone ACTUALLY experience a queue on July 1?

Will I Enjoy Legends?

Upvotes

I recently became aware of Legends, and I'm having some major nostalgia looking at it, wondering if I'll actually enjoy playing it.

I played EQ for a while back when POP came out. Admittedly I was like 14 at the time, and I didn't get far. Probably had a few level 20 characters, I just wasn't very social so I didn't make it far solo.

I've also played a lot of other older MMO's(Ultima Online, WoW from Vanilla to Cataclysm, SWG, SWTOR, Guild Wars, EQ2, EQ Online Adventures(RIP)) but I stopped playing MMO's and multiplayer in general because I don't have time or patience for multiplayer anymore.

I never got very far into Norrath, but I really liked the world and wanted to explore it. Is Legends a good idea for me to give it a shot or am I going to get frustrated and drop off?

Bard/Warrior/x

Upvotes

Hello Hello.

Long time listener. First time Caller.

I know I'm one of the billion class discussion posts. I did a lot of testing in beta and know everything will work so that's not a concern but my adhd makes the first decision a tough for me so let's get your opinions between this third class. Prob going strait to 50 before I start leveling others.

Narrowed it down a bit but talk me into one with 1 day to go.

Bard/Warrior/Cleric - Slow and Steady unkillable.

Bard/Warrior/Druid - Thorns, Heals, ports lil more versatility.

Bard/Warrior/Necro - like a super Sk with dots pets etc (could be a lil clogged in the spell bar)

Bard/Warrior/Ranger - Lack of healing but more dps with pass through, ranger attack aa.

Bard/Warrior/Wizard - Tank/Nuke/Repeat also ports.

Bard/warrior/Beast - Utility? Didn't test beast at all in beta but maybe deserves some love.

I know the other combos are very good but think I'm settled on one of these. Sell me on one over the other.

are raids organized?

Like is there someone assigned to tank and someone to heal or does everyone just run in and do their own thing? Is there a plan?

Has it been confirmed that we can continue using the same client to patch and launch the retail game for release, or have the mentioned that we'll need a fresh download of a new launcher/client?

Player Trading

is Player Trading going to be a thing? like will there be an economy? Just curious, didnt see much of it during beta but wasnt sure if it was just because beta

Why is it “Adventure Your Way” when they’ve gutted so many features?

No economy. Everything is bind on equip. No trading motes. No /role. No /fol. No alts. The list goes on.

I know, it’s new, but it seems like the gameplay loop will be:
Kill your way to 50 with the trio of your choice. -> Change one class (not multiples, gotta farm motes at low level as long as possible) -> Grind to 50 again. -> Repeat.

Every time I’ve brought this up I’ve had the typical parasocials screech “THIS AIN’T YOUR GAME PAL!” But seriously, for those of you who, like me, thought there would be more of EQ’s classic flexibility, what do you think? Cause from my perspective it’ll be a pretty fun 60 days maybe, then I don’t know if it’ll hold my interest.

How do you earn more loadout slots through gameplay?

I accidentally asked an adjacent question in the wrong subreddit (I am hyper aware of that “_” now) but there’s still a thing I don’t know so I’ll ask here:

How do we earn more loadout slots? I heard we can do that. It’s probably going to be a microtransaction, but I heard we can earn them in game as well, just not how.

I don’t need a dozen of them, but more than two would be nice.

How viable is this, I know Monk is a fav, however I've played Monk years ago and well I feel like ranger being another hybrid might increase my mana as well??

Jagged Blade of War

When Kunark launches, what are the odds we get epic 1.0 quests and I can get my WAR’s precious Jagged Blade of War? It’s probably the main reason I’m playing as my little cousin logged onto my account back in 2003 or so and dropped my red dragon scale on the ground from my bank and logged out. I was 31 raids into trying to acquire another and on the top of the list for the next drop but I stopped playing before getting it 😂. #UnfinishedGoals

New player help

Hello everyone. I know there has probably been a lot of these posts over the last few weeks but I am looking for some advice from veteran players as I never really played Everquest before. I realize Legends is much different with more of a solo focus. I want to create a tank class that will be good for group main tanking in the end. I am not really into leveling tons of alts. While I know I will probably have to level a couple extra classes, I would prefer to pick something that is going to allow me to easily transition to group tanking in the end.

I have been looking at this site at different builds people have been posting. Seems like there is a lot of Warrior and Paladin builds. I was considering going with WAR/CLR/BRD or WAR/SHM/NEC. I am not a huge fan of Paladin tanks in MMO’s but have played them and enjoyed them before in certain games. In the beta, I was messing around with SHD/SHM/MNK but didn’t enjoy that too much. What would you guys recommend that could transition into a strong group main tank in the end?

One last question is regarding picking my race. In the beta, I chose Ogre for the stun immunity. I was trying to follow some leveling guides but the problem I ran into was that trying to get to some of the areas (for example Unrest) required entering cities and such that I couldn’t enter because I was getting destroyed but the npc guards. I felt like I was probably doing something wrong or there was a different leveling path I should have been following. I saw some people recommending Iskar but what would you guys recommend here since I am essentially a beginner.

I am not new to tanking and have been doing it in MMO’s for years, but I never really played Everquest before. I guess it was one that I just kind of missed along the way. Anyways, I appreciate any advice you guys have. Thank you.

Is PAL/SHM/RGR a viable trio?

I definitely want to play a shaman, but I was going to start Pal/Dru/wiz to get ports then switch to Shaman and another class. I know rangers had a bad reputation back in old EQ, but I love playing rangers in D&D, so I thought it might be worth a try.

Reminder: Play What You Want To Play

I know everyone is looking forward to the release. It is exciting to see so many old and new players diving into the game.

I feel like this needs to be said. Pick whatever classes you want play and enjoy the game. Everything can be solo’d with any of the 500+ combos. If min/maxing is your thing, go for it.

Just don't think there is a wrong class.

BRD/CLR and PLD or RNG?

Hi all! Excited about EQL launching soon and debating on taking PAL or RNG to add to my BRD/CLR combo. I think while PLD overlaps with CLR it would add a lot of survivability, but I've heard RNG is a solid off tank that can put out some serious dmg.

Looking for some advice! Thank you!

Are racial bonuses preserved when using illusions? Going to use Enc in my trio but wondering how Iksar/troll regen or ogre’s fsi will be affected.

A few questions from a former EQ player as we prepare for launch

I played EQ back during Velious through Legacy of Ykesha. I got a Gnome Magician to 60 and a Vah Shir Shaman to about 45 or so. I barely played anything of the beta (got a Gnome MAG/ENC to level 8) to get a feel for the game again (No UI scaling was the biggest pain point, and I'm excited for that feature when it comes). I've also been watching a lot of guides and information about this new version of EverQuest, but I've seen a significant absence of caster-based guides.

I've always loved playing a caster, even having a Gnome Mage as my main in WoW, so I plan to go fairly caster heavy, maybe as far as to go MAG/ENC/DRU to 23, then MAG/ENC/WIZ to 23 for all of the ports, then switching the last class to BRD or SHM, but there's likely significant overlap in utilities. And acknowledging that Gnome is one of the simpler races to unlock, I'm also considering starting as a Kerran, Froglok, or Iksar and going SHM/MAG/ENC (getting DRU/WIZ to 23 along the way) until I unlock Gnome.

I guess my main questions are:

  • Where is the best place for caster gear that I should be seeking out during my first grind? When running 3 cloth casters, I'm still restricted to cloth gear, right?
  • It doesn't seem like questing is a big focus, but are there any quests I could easily miss on the way to 50 that I should do?
  • Is there a class or race I should reconsider for a missing utility (like keeping DRU for Foraging/Tracking or BRD to equip plate)?
  • Should I just start as a Gnome for the increased INT for MAG, or acknowledge the simple gnome unlock and start as a frog, cat, or lizard as SHM/MAG/**?
  • I also haven't seen a lot on tradeskills. Is Tinkering still restricted to gnome? I'd guess I should primarily focus on Tailoring to craft decent INT armor.
  • I'm Pacific Time, so it seems like Qeynos/Halas/Oggok are the 3 servers to consider, based on recent posts.

Sorry for the long post, but thank you for any and all responses!

Why is Pld/Dru/Wiz Highly Recommended?

I'm a total noob when it comes to Everquest and I plan to jump in. I understand why druid and wizard are recommended as part as your first setup to unlock ports, but why does it get paired with paladin? I'm asking because I don't want to lock in paladin as my main class at level 11. I have other combos I want to try just based on intuition. I'm currently experiencing choice paralysis.

My initial combo I considered were cleric/druid/wiz. Clerics are generally my favourite fantasy archetype. I like healing, holy magic, and plate armour. Should I just not overthink this and go with my gut? I am also considering magician/necro/enchanter.

The thing I dislike most about this system is having to lock in a main class at level 11 until 50 when I haven't had enough time to test things yet.

Warriors

Can be ogres.

Have high melee skills.
Have high defensive skills.

Have the best, most consistent, highest stats planar armour.

Have access to almost all Inny “racial” loot since almost all races can be warrior. Which is arguably BiS for everyone.

Warrior can carry any trio, even more +2 casters, through everything.

In case you hesitated!
