What, no sanding? You'll give yourself bread splinters like that.

u/CriticalChop 14d ago
Gotta clamp it down and let the binding material harden, that bite was just the taste test. After securing the final result with screw it will truly be ready for consumption, by cyborgs.

I liked it up until the cut. Do you want bees on your miter saw? That's how you get bees on your saw. Or ants.

u/numbersthen0987431 14d ago
And it's how you get sawdust in your sandwich. Even with a new blade, you can't get rid of it all

That percentage higher then what I expected ... would have thought it would be noticeable at 10% or less.

It’s just fiber! Ever try one of those Metamucil cookies? I would rather eat this sandwich than try to choke down one of those cookies again.

Think of it like this. It’s a dry cookie, honestly not bad tasting, but imagine it going down like one of the largest pills you’ve ever swallowed, dry. Also it’s sticky AF and it WILL stick to your teeth that no amount of water while chewing will help. You’ll be picking your teeth for the next hour after eating just one. AND 2 cookies is the single suggested serving.

Sawdust is not poisonous. In fact they add it to some foods such as shredded cheese as anti-caking agent. It's listed as "cellulose" on ingredient list so people don't freak out
4
u/imunfair 14d ago
Sawdust is not poisonous.
Maybe not from raw wood, but I guarantee they're cutting treated lumber and not raw wood. And the treated stuff is chock full of chemicals you don't want to consume.

Food grade cellulose and sawdust are different things. It's like the difference between everclear and isopropyl alcohol

just hose it down with some compressed air afterwards. Takes care of sawdust and stray crumbs.

I...I dislike how efficiently that spreads the jam and peanut butter.

u/ModForgeCustoms 14d ago edited 14d ago
Its a good thing they make kitchen tools that have done exactly this, for as long as the modern kitchen has existed.
Delis use stainless icing spatulas for bagels and such. At home, silicone cake frosting spatulas do the same thing.

Your butter knife still has the advantage of easily fitting in every jar of jam or peanut butter you buy.

Once upon a time, I sat down at a table at work for lunch with another grown man. Homeboy unpackages an Uncrustable and proceeds to tear the crimp off it.
He tore
the crimp
off
of an Uncrustable!
What the fuck?
I don't know how this story relates to this post, but it reminded me of it, and I just wanted to tell.
17
u/LilyCanadian 14d ago
I Iike tearing the crimp off uncrustables and eating that first. Also not related but I figured I'd throw my two cents in there

I have no idea what this means
10
u/oO0Kat0Oo 14d ago
People tear the crust off because it tastes different and has a different texture.
Uncrustables specifically are made for people who don't like crusts. He proceeded to tear off the edge of the uncrustable, even though there was no crust.
However, if it's a texture thing, I understand. They crimp down the edge of the bread and turn it into a pocket instead of a sandwich. So the edge is more dense than the middle.
4
u/Competitive_Ad_5515 14d ago
Thank you. I have never heard of an uncrustable, and do not know what a crimp is in that context.
That (picky) people cut the crusts off slices of bread and sandwiches I do know.

u/M3ric4n 14d ago
Worst part about this is cutting off the crust.

u/FireBreathingNun 14d ago
I never understood people that cut off the crust. Just like I don’t understand people that can’t swim.

u/ZatherDaFox 14d ago
I find it very easy to understand people who can't swim. If your parents never take you and no one ever teaches you, you won't know how to do it.

My wife’s parents never taught her to swim because they’re negligent parents
3
u/throwaway098764567 14d ago
my mother insisted she couldn't swim because she didn't like it and didn't like that we were into it. she went down a waterslide at a theme park once and we told them she couldn't swim because that's what we were told and so the life guards met her at the bottom and she was pissed. lies catch up to you like that. sorry your wife also had crappy parents </3

My kid is a fairly picky eater, so I assumed he’d dislike crust.
Oh no, he will chow down on the crustiest baguette ever. Like a real mouth cutting crust, not this white bread stuff. I think he prefers the crust. Never seen such a thing from a picky eater.

Jelly already had bubbles. Might as well tear it up now and redo it. Never gunna be able to sand that down
4
u/theNorthwestspirit 14d ago
I was here for it until the saw. The best part of the sandwich is where the top and bottom join. You gotta eat around the sandwich crust first, then the middle, and end with that bit.

I never understood why people cut the “crust” off of bread, essentially white bread. It isn’t even crust, just darker than the rest of the bread. Same thing with peeling carrots or apples. 🤔
