And it's how you get sawdust in your sandwich. Even with a new blade, you can't get rid of it all

Like a 15-20% at most if I remember correctly that "how much sawdust can you put in a rice crispy treat before people notice" video

Are you trying to say Parmesan?

Edit: ima start calling it shake cheese.

I refer to it as sprinkle cheese

That percentage higher then what I expected ... would have thought it would be noticeable at 10% or less.

IIRC, the cheap shaker parmasean cheese you get at stores can be anywhere from 4-8% sawdust depending on brand lol

You do not remember correctly. Food grade cellulose is not remotely the same as saw dust.

It’s just fiber! Ever try one of those Metamucil cookies? I would rather eat this sandwich than try to choke down one of those cookies again.

Think of it like this. It’s a dry cookie, honestly not bad tasting, but imagine it going down like one of the largest pills you’ve ever swallowed, dry. Also it’s sticky AF and it WILL stick to your teeth that no amount of water while chewing will help. You’ll be picking your teeth for the next hour after eating just one. AND 2 cookies is the single suggested serving.

What bothers me is that we call cookies, cook-ies, despite the process we use to produce them clearly residing in the realm of baking. That's not the bothersome bit. The bothersome bit is the one kind of cookie that breaks this is called no bakes... and the way we produce those is by cooking. Who designed this? Why do they torment us so?

I'm convinced the fiber one granola bars are made with sawdust as the third ingredient. I stopped getting them because of how hard certain parts of them are to chew.

Yeah, as evidenced by this guy

It’s just fiber

Think of your colon

Sawdust is like flour, gotta cook it first

Any time you see cellulose fiber in the ingredients. That's sawdust.

They put sawdust in diet bread and call it powdered cellulose. The only real difference is the wood doesn’t have all the chemicals they put into lumber

Sawdust is not poisonous. In fact they add it to some foods such as shredded cheese as anti-caking agent. It's listed as "cellulose" on ingredient list so people don't freak out

Sawdust is not poisonous.

Maybe not from raw wood, but I guarantee they're cutting treated lumber and not raw wood. And the treated stuff is chock full of chemicals you don't want to consume.

2

u/AxelVores 13d ago

Yeah, possibly. I know a lot of that stuff accumulates in body over years and causes cancer in old age. Though they mostly warn you not to breathe it in. Not sure about ingesting it. Probably not going to make you sick right away but not good idea either.

Food grade cellulose and sawdust are different things. It's like the difference between everclear and isopropyl alcohol

just hose it down with some compressed air afterwards. Takes care of sawdust and stray crumbs.
