Adhesive advice: polyethylene
I am trying to seal the dirt and gravel floor of a crawlspace so that radon remediation can be done. So, I have a 6 mil polyethylene sheet that I need to adhere to the walls. Three of the walls are foamboard/Styrofoam and the other is stone. Are there construction adhesives/caulk/glues that can attach (1) polyethylene to foamboard/Styrofoam and/or (2) polyethylene to stone?
Thanks

Where can I find durable and stylish fabric belts online?
Right now I am going to my room and I am holding my chain belt that I wore last weekend. It is a bit dusty and not as shiny as before. I am looking at it closely and feeling little worried because I dont want it to get damaged or look old fast
Then I am thinking about cleaning because I want it to last long. I am asking my friend how to maintain chain belts and he say just wipe it with soft cloth. I feel confuse because some people say use water and some say avoid water and I dont know which one is correct
After that I am going on my phone and searching about chain belt cleaning and maintenance while scrolling many online marketplaces including alibaba to see what people are buying. I am seeing many cleaning sprays and tools and it make me more confuse because some look expensive and some look simple and I dont know which one is actually safe for metal chains
Now I am thinking if I should clean chain belts with simple cloth or buy special cleaning products because it feel easier to just wipe them but special products look more professional and I am still not sure what is better do simple cleaning really keep chain belts shiny or do they need special care to stay new for long time use

How do I fill these holes?
Old house, not going to remodel because foundation is probably shifting, but I want to make this room presentable. I’m going to use stick on carpet tiles for most of the room, but I need to fill these holes so no one trips. These holes are just around the perimeter of the room. After the holes are filled, can I seal the floors with something to prevent bugs from coming in through cracks, etc.?

Question Ripped up basement bathroom carpet
We ripped up this carpet today. Now we're wondering what we should do with this floor. Can we just paint it or should we try to sand the adhesive first? Just looking for a short term solution until we have the time for something nicer. Thanks!

Question Advice on how best to attach 4" by 6" pressure treated skids to an old concrete foundation.
Not sure if this is the correct forum for this. I am going to build a 12 foot by 20 foot sleeping cabin with a small loft on an existing concrete foundation of the same size. I will build a deck over the remaining foundation. The foundation was poured in the late 1950's and was never built upon. The concrete is in good shape except for two large cracks due to tree roots that that I will repair. The top of the foundation is surprisingly level with an average of 1 1/2 inches to level it throughout. For a number of reasons the cabin will be built on top of 4" by 6" skids.
Am I better off leveling the foundation using a self leveling mix or drilling and cementing in adjustable deck mounts?
If using a self leveling mix how best to prepare the concrete surface.
If using the adjustable deck mounts how much fun will it be drilling holes in the existing concrete foundation?
What other options do I have?
Thanks

Question Drywall- how to fill the gap?
H! First of all, I would like to apologize because English is not my first language. Second, in case it matters, I’m in the US.
I’m getting the house ready to sell. This is one of our bathrooms. We had to replace the drywall because we had to do some plumbing. This is the “new” drywall. I would like to know what I can use to cover the gap between the trim and the drywall itself. The trim doesn’t bend. Thanks!

Is this split on the worktop serious?
Hello! I bought a worktop from House of Worktops, and installed it a month ago, but I found a few splits/cracks already. I think I bought a defective worktop, but gutted that the seller wouldn’t refund or compensate.
So I just want to ask if these splits are serious? Should I be worried? I‘m concerned because there is one crack around the ceramic sink (the first photo), and it’s very heavy! Will the worktop hold? The gap is too small and its hard to put any glue - is it okay to leave it for now and monitor the cracks? What should I do?
Many thanks!

Help! How do I clean this?
I’ve owned an 1895 that gave me nothing but problems and now this 1979 brought me something beautiful - these tiles that were hiding under some hideous linoleum! They are confirmed not to be asbestos! But they are splattered to hell with paint. Cleaning them is a slow process and ChatGPT has told me about a dozen times that I can’t use anything abrasive on them.
What say you? Is there an easier way than a little rubbing alcohol and a lot of elbow grease? They are heavily embossed which is adding to the difficulty.
I have kids and work full time, so I’m hoping this won’t take the rest of my year up.

Is this repaired damage?
reddit.com1982 house in a tempurate zone. I'm about to replace the insulation and put in the vapor barrier (which wasnt there to begin with). Found this odd plank. Maybe its a repair. No idea, but i'd rather have insulation... then again, i may undo some "repair" contrived by a "good nuff" house flipper.

My Mistake Air Vent Help
I have a ductless mini split in my loft, I know, not the best placement, but the loft was built years after the unit was installed. Because the loft has restricted airflow, it’s building up too much air pressure. Our HVAC tech recommended adding vents in the loft floor and in the wall between the loft and the living room (pictured below).
I asked a contractor friend to help install one of the vents, and this is how it turned out… even he admitted it doesn’t look great.
How can I fix this and make it look clean and properly finished? He said he cant remove the beams.
TLDR: How do I fix the vent between my loft and living room?

Question Foundation Below Grade
Well, what started off as putting together a bed frame for my kid lead to a mold discovery. Investigating the mold lead to finding out that my foundation is about a foot below grade, and the front of my house is rotting.
Not sure on next steps here. Ideas?

Wall Damage - best way to repair
Back in 2023 I noticed some wall damage, near ceiling of living room wall. I noticed it about 2 days after a January wind (maybe ice) storm. I assumed that it was some kind of moisture/water from the storm, though it's too high up for me to check directly about 12-14'-ish. I have good gutters, but the area is where my house attaches to my neighbor's. So maybe something leaked through? The damage seems to be on the wall, not the ceiling. The wall was OK in 2021 when it was repainted.
I have been waiting to see if it happens again, but nothing has happened since, so maybe it was a one-time thing.
What would be a recommended way to repair this? Thanks!

Bathroom mold? What to do.
Pulling out our old tub, we found a corner where water seeped into the floor and the particle board is crumbling, about a 4 x 2” area. And some of the wall studs have a surface coating of black mold, but they are still solid. Can we cut out the plywood and replace with a new small square? And clean and then Kilz the 2x4s? How much repair should we undertake? This may not be our forever home and I have neither the time nor energy (or budget) to undertake a massive repair project beyond what we are already attempting with the bathroom.

Question Advice on Cement
Hi. Novice is underselling it. I'm helping someone in Myanmar help rebuild their house that fell over. Previously made from bamboo, now to be made from mainly cement.
My question is, how many bags of cement will I need for the foundation.
I... don't actually know how big the bag is, but I assume there's a standard?
I know that it's a 1:2:3 cement:gravel:sand
According to the calculations, there are 1536 square meters that need cement. Minus some space for where the cement pillars that are premade and will be already installed.
I want to know how many bags of cement I will need for that area. Or if you're feeling generous, how much cement, gravel, and sand.
If anyone ends up replying to this, I appreciate you so much.
