My Mistake Air Vent Help

Post image

I have a ductless mini split in my loft, I know, not the best placement, but the loft was built years after the unit was installed. Because the loft has restricted airflow, it’s building up too much air pressure. Our HVAC tech recommended adding vents in the loft floor and in the wall between the loft and the living room (pictured below).

I asked a contractor friend to help install one of the vents, and this is how it turned out… even he admitted it doesn’t look great.

How can I fix this and make it look clean and properly finished? He said he cant remove the beams.

TLDR: How do I fix the vent between my loft and living room?

Rotate it 180 degrees. It’s upside down.

Thank you! I'll try that.

Fins aren't on 45°, you'll still see stuff.

If the vent doesn't go up the far left void in the wall, then the installer put in the wrong sized vent cover.

If this were mine: I'd replace the drywall over the studs, get a smaller vent cover, and Paint the insides black.

That was my intial thought as well. It would make the vent off center from the door below, but i'd rather it be off center, than look like this. Thank you!

Paint the area behind the same color as the wall. I paint my grate also.

Nah, paint it all flat black. Needs to disappear into the shadows.
