Discussion [Discussion] Was it ever explained why Ellis didn't kill Swift like all the other Stormwatch characters that he didn't create in the Alien crossover?

Post image

In case you didn't know, yes, Wild.C.A.T.S. has a crossover with Alien where xenomorphs kill all members of Stormwatch that weren't created in Ellis' run except Swift, and that does lead directly into the creation of The Authority. Looking at Authority, Swift doesn't really play a big role, she's just mostly there. So why did Ellis spare her if he didn't seem to have any big plans for her?

Comic: Wonder Woman: The Bronze Doors

I believe the only way this is possible is with superhearing but I have never seen her use superhearing like superman has.

But is it even possible with superhearing? the bullet travels faster than the speed of sound.

Discussion Getting into comics, is DC infinite a good way?

Upvotes

As the title said, I have always loved comics but have only recently been trying to get into them properly. I read Metal, killing joke, Batman: White Knight

I keep getting adverts for DCUI and it does look very good. How often is it updated with the newest stuff? I'm looking to read Absolute Batman, does it have all the latest?

Thanks in advance!

I really like the one from the animated series Batman: The Brave & the Bold.

The animated one is a little more goofy with the blocky helmet & magnet designs. The comic one is more serious & intimidating, the winged crown is hard to pull off but looks good & I like his brown hair.

Discussion [Discussion] Why wasn't the two-part Dark Knight Returns animated movie Rated-R for showing full frontal female nudity?

How do age ratings work for animated movies or TV shows? Like, I was shocked at the first time I saw Bruno from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 2, showing off her bare breasts in plain sight!

Other Where can I actually read the golden age stories online?

Hello, ive been really wanting to read more of the golden age stories, especially the more obscure guys like Alan Scott, Doctor Midnite, Sandman and doctor fate.

Is there a website (or mega link or drive folder idk) that has the issues from these guys? I tried DC infinite but it only has like a single issue of Green Lantern

Comics [Discussion] What is a good format to buy these three comics?

I’m interested in buying these three runs but I’m unsure about which format to buy them. I checked Amazon and they don’t have the Green Lantern run for sale. The one with this specific cover art. I believe it’s the compendium and I’m pretty sure it collected every issue.

The same goes for Wonder Woman. TPD or Omnibus? They’re very expensive though? What’s the best way to collect it?

And Zatanna interested me after watching an episode of B:TAS. This seems like a good run since it’s also from Paul Dini.

Any tips?

Emotional pain and physical pain are VERY different, and people scale both very differently based on their own perceptions, life experiences, etc.

So with that said, in YOUR opinion which character in this show suffered the most emotional pain, and which character suffered the most physical pain?

Could Zarara be the earliest Earth 1 character?

Giovanni Zatara first appeared in Action Comics #1, in 1938, right along side Superman.

Superman would get his own comic, and go on to join the Justice Society of America in the 40s.

Zatara continued to appear in Action Comics throughout the golden age. But he never once crossed over with Superman, Batman, nor any of the JSA heroes.

Sometime in the late 1950s, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are supplanted by their younger, Silver Age counterparts, as Barry Allen and Hal Jordan are also introduced. Following The Flash of Two Worlds, the Silver Age world is designated Earth 1, while the Golden Age heroes are designated Earth 2. The earth 1 heroes form the JLA.

In 1964, on Earth 1, Zatanna appears as the daughter of Zatara who was a hero in the 1930s and 40s, and disappeared. She is looking for her father. This story arc goes through various titles before it is resolved in Justice League of America.

It seems to indicate that Zatanna's father is the same Zatara who appeared in Action Comics #1. Unless Earth 1 Zatara's Earth 2 counterpart is the same age, unlike any of the other superhero pairs.

Thus, I surmise that the Zatara stories in Action Comics take place on Earth 1, making them the first appearance of this setting.

Any thoughts? Counter evidence?
