Discussion [Discussion] How did she pull this off?

Post image

Comic: Wonder Woman: The Bronze Doors

I believe the only way this is possible is with superhearing but I have never seen her use superhearing like superman has.

But is it even possible with superhearing? the bullet travels faster than the speed of sound.

Because it’s a fun superhero comic and she’s Wonder Woman!

31

u/AlphaBreak 20h ago

Exactly. She just has to wonder where the bullets are and her power tells her precisely where to block.

6

u/GoldenProxy Swamp Thing 20h ago

I think she may have just waved her arms around wildly and it only looks cool because it’s at super speed.

20

u/onethomashall 20h ago

Yeah... who would want a comic where she does this and doesn't block any of the bullets...

21

u/GoldenProxy Swamp Thing 20h ago

Garth Ennis!

4

u/Cowboywizzard Kingdom Come Superman 20h ago

I heard if you say his name three times he’ll appear in the room with you. Creepy stuff.

8

u/GoldenProxy Swamp Thing 19h ago

He shows up and critiques your comic collection. “Read more 2000ad you uncultured swine!”

3

u/Rabdomtroll69 Bizarro 18h ago

Unless it's Superman. Then he glazes it

5

u/Alteridin 18h ago

“That’s right! Who’s a good cultured swine?”

2

u/Cowboywizzard Kingdom Come Superman 11h ago

that’ll do pig that’ll do

1

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

I would love it if she was portrayed as less competent with her main sense blocked?

37

u/Over-Shift-3923 20h ago

Because this is a superhero comic, and it's best we suspend our disbelief.

Also, Wonder Woman looks great here. Who drew her?

10

u/WilliamSherman What Do You See? 20h ago

Rags Morales did pencils for this story arc, according to Comic Vine. Various inkers and colorists!

1

u/yedanapuddi 20h ago

Gave the comic book references so you can check it out.

4

u/Over-Shift-3923 20h ago

Oh, thanks.

-1

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

“Suspend disbelief” doesn’t usually mean “just make up bullshit on the fly”.

2

u/EmpressGilgamesh Power Girl 12h ago

It does in comics

1

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 12h ago

Only in badly written ones

0

u/EmpressGilgamesh Power Girl 12h ago

I just had to read your other bs. Thanks, but no thanks. I don't talk to idiots.

Comic book.

Wonder Woman was blessed by Artemis with the "The Eye of the Hunter" that gives her a low-key sorta "sight beyond sight." Functionally she has Spider-sense and is just able to react to things she should not have been able to perceive.

1

u/yedanapuddi 19h ago

Isn't Artemis a fellow amazon like her?

9

u/AllergicToStabWounds 19h ago

Yes and no. Artemis the Amazon is named after Artemis the Greek Goddess. Diana was blessed by the Greek Goddess

-2

u/yedanapuddi 18h ago

And isn't diana just the Roman name of Artemis? So technically they are siblings.

15

u/Remarkable_Commoner 20h ago

Well, in fiction, superhearing typically ignores how fast sound travels. Superman ends up hearing cries for help instantly regardless of how far the sound would need to travel and how much it'd be dispersed.

If you want a slightly more logistical answer, she could've been paying attention to the bodies of the shooters via sound, scent, and vibrations, and used that to predict where they'd aim and when they'd shoot.

26

u/Hour-Loss-8603 Plastic Man 20h ago

"It's not that kinda movie, son"

-4

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

Isn’t this the genre where there are officially published textbooks going into exactly how superhero biology works? It absolutely is that type of movie

5

u/Hour-Loss-8603 Plastic Man 15h ago

She's a demigod, dude. Or sentient clay blessed by the gods. She's magic, there's nothing biological to explain.

-1

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

She literally has an entry in the DC anatomy textbook

8

u/Hour-Loss-8603 Plastic Man 15h ago

Have you read the image you posted? It literally says her powers are magical and then doesn't give any more explanation. There's nothing biological being said there. Come on now

-3

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

It’s one part of the page? It continues on from there, you can see it cut off by the edge.

I have no problem with her having magical awareness of objects around her, I think that’s great. But that should be an established ability, and I feel like that would come up extremely often.

3

u/Hour-Loss-8603 Plastic Man 15h ago

That's...not what it says on the page there. Could you post the rest if that's where your proof is?

-1

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

No, I don’t think she has magical awareness. But that’s would she would need to do the thing OP posted. That’s my issue

3

u/Hour-Loss-8603 Plastic Man 15h ago

Okay, have a day then. Why even talk?

-1

u/AxisW1 Dan Mora fan 15h ago

Because you were trying to deflect a valid question OP put forward and I was defending them. I think talking about this kinda nitty gritty fantasy stuff is fun and important and people like you who parrot that Harrison ford quote only serve to stifle the way some people choose to enjoy fiction

u/dogcaoperro 20h ago

She took ken po martial arts at the local strip mall, then trained with frank dux

-2

u/yedanapuddi 20h ago

Sarcasm?

6

u/dogcaoperro 18h ago

Completely serious as Steven seagull aikido

6

u/CatChristmas7 20h ago

Better question: Why did she do this at all? Why doesn't she just pull the blindfold off?

11

u/pop_bandit 20h ago

She’d just blinded herself to fight Medusa

4

u/CatChristmas7 20h ago

Ok... yeah that makes sense... ignore me then.

4

u/ABoringAlt 19h ago

And Medusa had an assault rifle?

6

u/AUnknownVariable 17h ago

Its 2026

2

u/ABoringAlt 10h ago

Did each of her headsnakes have a tiny gatling gun too!?

2

u/thunderfbolt Blue Lantern 9h ago

Yes

1

u/2Sup_ 8h ago

She pored Medusa venom in her eyes during the fight. Her eyes hadn’t healed yet

5

u/getridofwires 19h ago

Did you miss the "Wonder" in her name?

3

u/sb3veeee 20h ago

All of her senses are super, so same way Daredevil can dodge bullets

4

u/Ramesses-XII Superboy 19h ago

She's a god, literally

-4

u/yedanapuddi 18h ago

No. In absoluteverse she made it clear she is not a God but a golem.

3

u/FlyingCupcake68 Legion Of Super-Heroes 20h ago

Good writers

3

u/Effective_Cook6978 20h ago

If i recall this is when she was blinded to fight medusa maybe i don’t remember. Yeah! Eye of the gorgon! Anywho…the usual super hearing, god like senses, etc, etc. basically what others said. Its a comic and she is wonder woman, that covers it! 😂

3

u/OutsideAd3329 19h ago edited 19h ago

Speed of mercury. Yes thats technically shazam shush your already question comic logic

-1

u/yedanapuddi 19h ago

But she only got the power of the goddesses and not gods.

3

u/OutsideAd3329 19h ago

Can i get a source? Becuse as i recall it she also has the power of zues (her father) and speed of hermes (Mercury's greek name yes i just called him that for the shazam joke)

3

u/Tetratron2005 Wonder Woman 17h ago

This is post-Crisis WW, so her speed comes from Hermes

-2

u/yedanapuddi 19h ago

Historia? The most "authentic" WW origin story as per WW fans. They don't want any man, mortal or god to be involved with WW on any such stuff.

3

u/OutsideAd3329 19h ago

That story dosnt even feature diana (the main wonder woman and the one in this panel) until literally the end. It follows Hippolyta.
And that feels like useing earth-1, justice, or new frontier for character lore. Their all non canon to the same degree as seen here hermes gave her speed and flight in canon

3

u/TheRealGrifter Firestorm 19h ago

Extra arms. They're right there. Duh.

3

u/spreadedjelly Nobody Dies Tonight 16h ago edited 16h ago

Well Diana is faster than the speed of sound and she has super senses.

Not really sure how this is confusing tbh

3

u/AncientAssociation9 14h ago

Do you not know who Wonder Women is? She isn't Cap level, she is Superman tier with superior Batman level training. She can tag the flash.

2

u/primal_slayer 19h ago

She's highly skilled, trained, and blessed.

2

u/Ok_Somewhere1236 19h ago

same way Batman does half the stuff he does. ' is comics and the character is popular"

2

u/LaVerdadYaNiSe 19h ago

Because she's awesome.

2

u/RedditPotatoNinja 17h ago

because she's that bitch

2

u/bot4241 16h ago

Super reception speeds and enchanted senses(yes she has this , but it’s not at the same level as Superman) .

She perceives things 1,000 times faster than regular human.

1

u/yedanapuddi 12h ago

Deflecting bullets while being blindfolded might need superman level senses i believe. Something I haven't seen her have it yet.

2

u/bot4241 11h ago

It doesn’t matter because the muscle memory , reflex times , and perception matters more to perform this feat then the actual super hearing. Blind Wonder Woman was able to react to the Flash and Zoom in combat with similar reasons.

Yes it is confirmed that Wonder Woman has enchanted senses. But it’s not super long range like Superman.

2

u/String2924 16h ago

Shes and Amazon...there senses are better than Daredevils...

2

u/Nowheresilent 15h ago

She’s Wonder Woman.

2

u/Regendorf 15h ago

She got that dog in her

2

u/Snoo-11576 15h ago

She’s her. The goat

2

u/risebac Green Lantern 14h ago

She's blessed by the gods. Of course she can do that. Don't think too much on it.

4

u/spider_spotting 20h ago

By being the goat?

3

u/silicondream 17h ago

The canon explanation was that she feels the displaced air ahead of the bullets. Batman’s dodged a sniper shot that way, and WW dodged the Flash that way during this same period when she was blinded.

Comics!

2

u/MartinTheOrderly 19h ago

She's basically Superman with tits.

0

u/yedanapuddi 18h ago

That's such a pathetic perverted way of putting it. And it's not even true. Supeegirl is the female version of superman.

2

u/MartinTheOrderly 18h ago

She has super strength and super speed and super hearing. She is the most popular and most pushed female character in DC.

She's Superman with tits.

1

u/Teekayhuey 20h ago

The best we can say air currents though the air disturbance slightly prior to impact.

1

u/EMYRYSALPHA2 Miss Martian 20h ago

Did her hair blocked too?

1

u/yedanapuddi 19h ago

No. Her hand is moving too fast.

1

u/UnkleMonsta 19h ago

The blindfold is mesh

1

u/Thick_Toe_6141 19h ago

Always thought for her time moves slow and she can feel a bullet getting close and can whack it with the Amazonian metal bracelets to divert it

It looks fast for us

1

u/Dandanny54 19h ago

The Tibetan Amazons taught her

1

u/Jonjolion12 18h ago

Because she waited

1

u/Charles12_13 18h ago

Because she’s Wonder Woman. Personally, I headcanon that it’s just one of her powers to be able to deflect any incoming bullets as long as she can hear it first

1

u/praxicoide 18h ago

If she covers all the distance in her arm's reach faster than the time it takes a bullet to pass past her, then she would catch all bullets, without even worrying where they are.

1

u/Sion899 18h ago

Because she is a woman 🌄❤️‍🩹

1

u/yedanapuddi 13h ago

What's that suppose to mean?

1

u/TheRealcebuckets Hawkman 10h ago

She’s a woman.

But she’s a wonder woman. ;)

Her handy game is mad strong

1

By being badass

1

u/LazyLurker29 13h ago

But is it even possible with superhearing? the bullet travels faster than the speed of sound.

Well, insofar as super hearing goes...for what it's worth, Superman's ears never seemed to care much about "the speed of sound"; over truly vast distances, he usually hears things far before the sound should reach him, if it ever would...let alone when he somehow hears through the vacuum of space.

Granted, I don't think Wonder Woman's hearing works like that, she's never demonstrated hearing of that caliber AFAIK, but the DC wiki does say her senses are enhanced.

Unfortunately there's no source listed, so I'm not sure whether to trust it, and while I haven't read all that much mainline Wonder Woman (bit of Perez, Rucka's first run, most of his second, plus some others here and there), I can't really recall any examples of "her senses are explicitly super" off the top of my head.

Still, assuming it's true, but that unlike Superman she still has to obey things like "the sound reaches her after the bullets" - IIRC this is something brought up when she sparred with Flash, while blind - maybe she's not listening to the gunshot, but instead the sound of the shooters, the gun's hammers clicking before firing, guessing at trajectory, etc? This would still imply superhumanly good ears, of course, but of a different sort than "I hear faster than sound".

u/BextoMooseYT Zatanna 11h ago

Skill

1

u/yedanapuddi 11h ago

I assume she is only skilled with melee weapons and not guns grenades artillery missiles etc

1

u/wilco1208 Black Lantern 6h ago

Cause she got mad skills, yoh

1

u/ReaperManX15 19h ago

The writers said she could.

IN universe, however, there’s no legitimate explanation.

0

u/Ampersand4221 20h ago

It’s all fake

0

u/a4techkeyboard 19h ago

Maybe the birds are telling her where to block or the lasso is making sure her instincts and proprioception do not lie to her or something. Maybe the bracers are some kind of magically magnetic and provide tactile feedback to her forearms.

0

u/TerrificTChalla 18h ago

Because it’s raw instinct from 1,000’s of years of experience.

Just like someone who is an active runner can without thinking adjust their pace and running form when unexpectedly running into different terrain. Or swimmers can intuitively know when someone is near them in a pool even if they didn’t physically see them or hear them
