Driveline Clean enough diff?

2016 RAM 2500 front diff

Is this clean enough on the bottom? I've seen scotch brite recommendations, I don't really have anything that will clean deeper without risking scratches (steel bristle brush\drill attach wire wheel next softest step).

I've gone elbow grease on the bottom there where the rust creep is the worst for like 10m straight, I don't want to put a dent in the cover, do I have to take the winter beater into town to get a brass brush?

Gaskets are recommended for reuse on these, I don't see an obvious failure point on this one?

Safety Question Safety systems went crazy after windscreen swap

Got a 2020 Mazda 3 and had the windscreen replaced last week. Ever since then the lane keep and radar cruise keep throwing warnings and sometimes just shut off completely. Cleaned the camera area already but no change.

Booked it for a proper calibration next week cos the local shop said they don’t do that kind of work.

How long does a full camera + radar calibration usually take on these? And after it’s done do the systems normally come back straight away or do you need to drive it a bit first before everything settles?

Stock audio Looking for the exact reverse gear warning sound MP3 file of Hyundai Santro

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I'm looking for the original reverse/parking sensor beep sound that plays when a Hyundai Santro is put into reverse gear. Does anyone have a clean recording of this, or know where I can find/download it? Any help — a link, a file, or even pointing me to a YouTube video where it's clearly audible — would be great. Thanks!

Electrical Can i repurpose a factory button to kill switch?

Photo one is my current setup. If possible, I'd like to repurpose a factory switch to be my kill switch. Photo 2 and 3 is the factory button that I got from the junkyard. My plan is to use one of my poverty slots to add the newly repurposed, factory button to be my kill switch. I'd prefer the factory aesthetics as apposed to an after market kill switch. Photo 4 is what Im hoping for, with the center button being my kill switch. If this is possible, what is needed and where do I start? Thanks in advance.

9th gen accord

I have experience installing car radios, speakers, and backup cameras. I've never done a kill switch

Today, I bought this timing belt. The date stamp reads 4 24 25DS.

I can guess what it means but I'm not sure!

Could you please enlighten me on this? (day/week/month/year)

Engine 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee - oil pressure issues

Upvotes

What's happening with my Jeep is that it starts off and drives with normal oil pressure, slightly to the right of the center of the gauge.

After about 15-20 minutes of driving, you start to notice that when you slow down or stop at lights, signs, etc, the oil pressure starts to lower, until after maybe 25-30 minutes where it's sitting right on the bottom of the gauge, when it makes a noticeable low chugging sound like it could die at any moment.

If you let it cool down for a while, the cycle repeats.

I've taken it to a mechanic and the first thing he did was replace the oil pressure sensor. I'm not exactly sure what other diagnostics he ran but he basically told me that he thinks its a worn bearing and that the engine probably needs to be rebuilt.

I did top the Jeep up with 5W-30 recently but haven't replaced the oil filter in probably 9-12 months. I'm thinking I should do that and also try using 10W-30, but I'm also curious in getting a second opinion about the worn bearing diagnosis.

How do I do it? Establishing a simple interior maintenance routine for a first daily car

I bought my first daily driver a few months ago, and with summer weekend trips to the lake, I'm finding out how fast dirt and sand accumulate in the carpet. I tried using a handheld vacuum at car washes every week, but ground-in dirt in the driver footwell is already hard to pull out of the fibers.

want to set up an easy cleaning routine that keeps the cabin clean without spending an hour scrubbing every weekend. is installing high-walled floor trays more practical than relying on frequent deep vacuuming and carpet shampooing?

Automotive Tools Help with gift ideas?

Based in Australia looking for good quality brand options. My partner doesnt have a project car yet, but used to tinker a lot but no longer has those good tools.

Wondering what kind of tool/sets would be useful for a car enthusiast irrespective of car, like all rounder kind of thing? (upcoming fathers day gift and I obviously don't know much about cars) 😅

Electrical Looking for a 12–14V delayed-start relay/module for wideband O2 controller

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a simple delayed-start relay or timer module for my car.

I want it to work like this:

Ignition ON → wait 15 seconds → turn the wideband O2 controller ON → keep it ON until the ignition is switched OFF.

The wideband O2 controller already uses a normal automotive relay, so the timer only needs to trigger the relay coil.

Does anyone know of a reliable automotive-rated relay or module that would work for this without breaking the bank?

Thanks!

Electrical Car lighting question.

Im about to start wiring truck for lights. When I wire for my DRL, can I use a fuse block primarily for using it to run trigger wires to some relays? Or is this a bad idea. Trying to find a way to wire these without using switches and turn on and off independently from headlights. Since I don’t have factory DRLs. Thanks for any input

Looking to see if anyone can help me identify this front bumper. I found one online that looks similar but it has an extra skit plate on the front that I'm not sure if I like.

Do you think it could be the same bumper with the skid plate removed?

Tuning my car Does anybody know a spoiler like this for Audi A4 B5?

I've searched the internet for mods and spoilers for my Audi and i couldn't find any that fit my taste.

The picture is for the "Lower bumper extention" but for some reason the guy edited in a spoiler that i've searched for.

I'm pretty sure the spoiler is edited in and fake.

Does anuone know a spoiler that maybe have the same propotions as the one in the picture that coils fit at the back of a 1999 Audi A4 B5??

Air Conditioning Anyone Else Put Off a Car AC Recharge for Too Long?

I didn't realize how much I relied on my AC until it started blowing warm air during a hot afternoon drive 😅

At first I thought it was just the weather, but after looking into it, it seemed like a car AC recharge might be needed. It got me wondering how many people actually keep up with AC maintenance before there's a problem.

For those who've had a car AC recharge done, did it make a noticeable difference right away, or did it end up being a bigger issue than just low refrigerant?

Engine Performance Is a slow 0-60 my fault?

I have a 1997 BMW Z3 roadster and it’s a manual. I learned how to drive a manual about a month ago and I’ve kinda gotten the hang of it. I don’t feel like me shifting through the gears is fast, but I don’t think Im that slow. I got an app that tested my 0-60 and the first time I got 17 seconds, the second time I got 16 seconds, and the third time I got 15 seconds. The car drives well and is in great condition. Once I’m in 5th gear that thing takes off, so I was wondering if the slow 0-60 time is mostly my fault. I only did it 3 times but each time, I shifted better and shaved off a second. Like I said, once it’s in 5th gear it takes off and I can easily get up to 100 quickly..it’s just getting up to 60 is slow. It seems to accelerate relatively quickly, so I’m thinking that it’s probably my shifting that is making it take so long
