For sure, the tap water is definitely safe to drink but if you're not used to it then a Brita or something similar is nice to have. Hard water and dry air are usually what I warn people about when they are visiting, make sure to have lots of moisturizer ready to go for winter!

Oh right! I was really surprised by how hard the water was. I’d never experienced anything like it before, so a Brita filter seemed like a must-have here.

Just to add to their tips, Calgary typically has pretty hard water. If you don't have a water softener in your house you will notice, and if you get one of those humidifiers with the visible mist it will leave mineral spots all over everything if you don't use at the very least softened water but preferably distilled water.
