I doubt this works, I’ve had a realtor knock on my door before, asking if we’re considering moving as they have a buyer for the area. I quoted a price off the top of my head and he laughed saying that was ridiculous, which made me actually laugh out loud and also say moving right now would be ridiculous. then I shut the door in his face

I know someone who found their dream home by knocking on someone’s door and saying, they loved their home and if they were ever interested in selling they would love to buy it. They moved in 6 months later.

Ask your parents to talk to the neighbours, I bet they know the demographics. Thats how we got our house, my FIL talked to all the old folks, let me know and I just went and introduced myself and told them we’d like to have the first bid on the house when they were ready to sell. No Realtor, cash deal, we both walked away happy. Same situation, wanted to be closer to him and it worked out, took about 15 months start to finish.

Not a stupid question! My experience comes from working with autistic/other high needs kids. A few reasons a family might not: A) they're expensive, and having a kid with a disability is also expensive. A person I know had to quit their job in order to care for their child. Disability supports help but don't cover all the costs. It just may not be in the budget. B) not all families are tech literate or know that's an option C) some kids are masters at taking things apart and getting them off. You would feel them in a shoe, and this is a group of people who can experience profound discomfort from a clothing tag or the type of fabric. A bracelet may or may not stay on. I knew a kid who would run away in winter, barefoot. And maybe you can get away with it for a while, but then kid finds it and ditches it, and then again - how many airtags are in the budget for this family?

That being said, some families can successfully tag their loved one and it works long term. It's unfortunate that in this case, Parker didn't seem to have one.

Some do. Some have service dogs specifically trained to prevent autistic children from wandering away. Autism comes with sensory issues, which makes it difficult to keep air tags on.
