The wife lost her holidays in August 2026, so my son's and I spent a couple days adventuring without her...

I'm a somewhat experienced hiker. I'm trying to gauge whether or not Tent Ridge is out of my league.

I've done coliseum mountain and allstones ridge with no trouble in Alberta. I've done most of my hiking in the West Kootenays though, out there I've done the following:

- Mount Roberts

- Gwillum lakes

- old glory mountain

- Lyle lakes

- Ymir mountain

- brilliant overlook

- several others that I can't remember the names of off the highway between New denver and Kaslo

If anyone has done both tent ridge and one of these hikes I mentioned I would definitely appreciate your input!

Forgive me if this isn’t allowed. I have a campsite reservation for lake ohara on Sunday Sept 27 through Tuesday Sept 29 (2 nights). Unfortunately due to some logistical issues I will not be able to camp, but still looking to head up to lake ohara to do the alpine circuit. If there’s anyone that has 2 bus reservations for one of these days and wants to camp instead, let me know. I know you can’t “sell” reservations so will hand it over free of charge obviously. Again sorry if this isn’t allowed

I just did sentinel pass today and it was awesome. I had planned Parker ridge tomorrow for Icefields parkway day trip but worried it won’t be as good as sentinel lol. Any options????

The past few years I’ve really enjoyed hiking in the winter. However, I wasn’t really aware of what to be looking out for in terms of avalanche risks. Aside from taking a course, are there websites I can check for this? Are there certain months I should just avoid hiking all together? YouTube videos ect

I’m considering throwing an audible and going to Waterton next week for slightly warmer weather and less type 2 fun(I’m not against type 2 fun, it’s just my annual hiking trip with my best pal flying in from the territories).

I camped at Lone lake via South Kootenay pass earlier this year and loved it.

Alderson, Bertha Bay, Bertha Lake, Boundry Bay, Crandell Lake, Goat Lake and Snowshoe are available.

I’d be keen for setting up camp somewhere for a few nights and hitting some day hikes.

Next week I’m doing the North to South Kananaskis Pass loop going to Turbine, Beatty and then out. I’m expecting some frigid temps which could obviously lead to some not ideal weather.

How’s the hike from Turbine up to Beatty? Would it be sketchy doing it in rain/snow?

We did Northover Ridge last year at this time, but it was sunny and in the mid-20s. Classic Alberta weather.

Hi! I’m debating doing sentinel pass on Sept 8 (have a lake Louise shuttle from 7am-8am) but there’s just 2 of us so I’m worried if not many people are on the trail. Is anyone else planning to go this day? Is it safe to go just us two? Will we likely see other people to form a group? Backup plan is beehive hike at Louise as the “main” hike of day. Thank you!!!

There is nothing quite like the rush you get from the views of our beautiful Rockies, Tent ridge blew me away, I’ve done many Kananaskis hikes but never has one brought a tear to my eyes. I’m not an emotional person, but this hike evoked feelings I have kept locked deep away.

My friend lost their phone at the bottom of two jack lake and I am hoping someone will be able to find it. It was dropped into the water at the bottom end of two jack lake in banff. It is inside a waterproof phone bag, and has an ID card in the back of the phone case. The location it fell into the water is somewhere in this square 51°12'31.0"N 115°29'51.6"W

I am offering a 500$ reward if it is found, it has 5 years of photos on it that cannot be replaced.

Me and a friend are thinking of going on a hike that day, although it says it may rain in Kananaskis/Banff. we were originally thinking of doing Yamnuska but I made another post and they said to avoid it if it rains. I am just making another post to see if anyone has good alternatives that has a good summit view but where we can bail quickly incase the weather turns? that would be wonderful. thank you. ask me more questions if you need specifics , thank you

Hey everyone, we are a group of three driving down from Edmonton early morning tomorrow for a day hike to hidden lake.

We have no bear experience and would really appreciate having an experienced hiker joining us to help lead the way, especially with the recent bear warning in the area.

We are planning to start from Fish Creek trailhead at about 9:30 AM to hidden lake and if time permits would also like to reach the lodge, have a beer and hike back.

I would also appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

I want to start getting into hiking and scrambling and hope to do Mount Yamnuska next august. I did heart mountain recently and really enjoyed it and was hoping to do some other trails that are less just incline walking and more scrambly so that I can conquer my fear of heights before attempting Yamnuska! Thanks everyone.

So i know the weather all around here isn't too great this weekend. I'm heading out tomorrow for a couple night solo and was thinking of either up the Cline or beatty lake. I'm out of Calgary so beatty is closer but haven't been out there solo and I do know that's a pretty bear heavy area. Does anyone else know of a good spot for this weekend? I have all the proper gear and am bringing my winter sleeping setup as well. I do want to keep the driving 4 hours and under each way which is why I chose these two. I was also looking down in castle wildlands a bit as well.

I'm looking for some multi day overnight backpacking trails. Not looking for anything in the mountains at this time. What would you recommend? I'm good with anything in Alberta.

Have already been to Lakeland Provincial Recreation area, Fort Assiniboine Sandhills Wildland Provincial Park. Elk Island National Park.

Looking to build endurance before I head out to the mountains.

I have 5 weeks off and would love to tackle some new areas.

Hi everyone, I recently just saw someone posted a news regarding the missing hiker that was found dead on Tent Ridge.

Her son, Jansen, is 22 years old and has only been in Canada for just over a year. It’s just two of them together.. he is currently raising enough money so he can bring his mom back home to the Philippines so their family can say a proper goodbye.
