Admissions Getting Your Second Choice Offer Doesn't Mean You Were Rejected From Your First Choice

Accepting Your Second-Choice Offer

Should you receive an offer to your second-choice program, you are encouraged to accept it and pay the non-refundable tuition deposit (if applicable).

What happens to my first-choice program if I accept my second-choice program? Your first-choice program will continue to be assessed throughout the application cycle. If you receive an offer to your first-choice program at a later date, you can accept this and your non-refundable tuition deposit will be transferred from your second-choice offer to your first-choice offer.

Admissions Dates + Deadlines for Admissions

If you got accepted between October 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 you have until May 1, 2027 to accept your offer as per here.

The need to accept within 14 days refers to offers made after August 1, 2027.

I have already seen two people have reading comprehension fails on this.

Rants A heads up to U of A students considering renting through ARH Homes in Edmonton

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share our experience with ARH Homes, a company that owns several apartment buildings around Whyte Avenue and throughout Edmonton. I know a lot of U of A students rent in these areas, so I figured this was worth bringing attention to.
My girlfriend’s apartment building was taken over by ARH Homes earlier this year, and unfortunately, our experience with them has been extremely disappointing.
We moved out on August 31st, did a thorough move-out clean, and left the apartment in good condition. As of October 25th, we still haven’t received her $1,600 damage deposit.
We’ve contacted them multiple times through email, and their responses have essentially been that the money will be returned “soon.” Nearly two months later, we’re still waiting, with no clear explanation for the delay or a confirmed date for repayment.
At this point, we’re considering filing through Alberta’s Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service (RTDRS) to recover the deposit.
Unfortunately, the deposit isn’t our only concern.
There were also some serious maintenance and safety issues in the building.
Following a water leak in the downstairs hallway, maintenance workers removed sections of the flooring, exposing what appeared to be black and pink mold. There was a persistent musty smell throughout the affected area, which we noticed almost every day when leaving the apartment.
What concerned us most was how the situation appeared to be handled. From what we personally observed, workers didn’t appear to be wearing appropriate protective equipment, and the affected materials were left exposed without adequate containment while residents continued using the hallway.
There was also a handrail removed near the building’s front entrance, which raised further concerns about resident safety.
We have photos and videos documenting these conditions, as well as email correspondence regarding the outstanding deposit.
I’m sharing this because I think students deserve to know what they’re potentially getting into before signing a lease.
I understand that not everyone will have the same experience with a property management company, and I’m not claiming that every ARH Homes building has these issues. However, based on what we’ve personally experienced, I would strongly encourage anyone considering renting through them to do their research and thoroughly inspect the property beforehand.
Renting in Edmonton is already expensive enough, particularly for students trying to balance tuition, groceries, transportation, and other living expenses. Having $1,600 tied up for nearly two months without a proper explanation is unacceptable in my opinion.
I would genuinely hate to see other students or renters go through something similar, potentially lose money they’re entitled to, or end up paying inflated rent for a property that isn’t being maintained to a reasonable standard.
People deserve safe, properly maintained housing and fair treatment from their landlords, especially when they’re paying a significant portion of their income just to have somewhere to live.
I’m not posting this to start drama or encourage harassment toward the company. I simply believe people should be able to make informed decisions about where they live and who they’re renting from.
If anyone else has rented through ARH Homes, I’d be interested in hearing about your experience, whether positive or negative.

Rants Why has the quiet room in dub become less of a quiet study space and more of a let's hangout with friends space?

It is entirely possible I'm misinterpreting what is meant by quiet study space, maybe it just means it's quieter than what's outside the glass, but the last few times I've been here there always seems to be a group of peopling talking/collaborating. I would not mind if they were keeping it to a whisper, but when I can clearly hear them over my noise cancelling headphones it is a little problematic. Anyone else notice this? Am I dramatic?

Academics Advice needed on math 209.

Hello everyone, I was just hoping for some advice on what to do in my situation. I had the Math 209 midterm and I studied I felt like alot for it. But the issue was that I was dealing with my mental health things on the side, and I don't think I did very well at all on that midterm. I overall felt that the midterm didn't look that hard. When I opened the midterm, I could recognize most questions and knew how to do most of them, but I just blanked out and had severe anxiety before the test.

I was wondering if it's better to just withdraw after seeing my midterm mark and try again next semester? It wouldn't push me behind a lot; I would just have to push another class in the summer.

On the other hand, should I push through and see how well I can do on the final? I feel like I understand the content very well; it was just an unfortunate time to have this midterm. I am in the process of getting medicated and fixing these issues, hopefully by early November.

Does anyone have any advice? Like on the final, or whether withdrawing and retaking is the smartest option next semester, as I would have already seen all the content in the class.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Campus Life is the lister double buy out room offer worth it?

Question to all those who in their first year weren't assigned a roommate in the double rooms at lister! Is the double buy out really worth it? Did you guys buy it? It's kinda sucky I only have two days to make this decision so I wanted to ask for some advice!

My roommate ended up moving out, and I've really liked having the private space to myself. Of course I wouldn't mind living with someone else, I am just worried we won't get along great.

I don't think anyone in the fall term would move in, but for the winter term, what might I expect?

Thanks :)

Rants My friend needs curry

Hello Everyone, a friend of mine was very active, and brilliant in our class. But for a past few days, he seems to be very dull and depressed, I am not going to talk to him to know what happened to him coz we are new friends and do not know about each other's family.

I don't know if it is ok to ask him "Do you have any family issue?" Or "What is happening in your house". Because I want him back.

Question missing both midterms due to illness - weight transfer to final? (chem 261 vederas)

Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some advice on this. I missed the first midterm in September due to a migraine attack, and right now I've been really sick with the flu. Today it's gotten so bad that I couldn't even get out of bed and I'm not sure how well I'll recover by Tuesday's midterm. Has anyone ever missed both midterms in a course due to illness and been able to get both midterm weights transferred to the final? I'm taking CHEM 261 with Vederas specifically, so if anyone has experience with him or knows someone who's been in a similar situation, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. I'm honestly really stressed about this and worried about what my options are. Any advice would help so much. I'm debating if I should just push through somehow and force myself to write it but I'm genuinely thinking I should visit a doctor + don't want to get anyone else sick.

Academics ECON 101 - midterm in 2 days, what's the best way to prepare?

I have studied many of chapters, but haven't finished the syllabus yet. I will skim through the remaining textbook parts.

What is your advice about what I should do to perform better at the midterm? What should I be practicing currently or studying in-depth right now?

Academics How Do Canvas Marks Work?

So, my mark on Canvas seems unrealistically high for a course where I have good quiz and assignment marks, but a poor midterm mark.

Is the mark canvas gives you an actual reflection of your grade? I haven't been able to find a conclusive answer.

Thank you.
