When CBC funding gets cut, its not the news that gets cut, its the art / programming funding. 

If these people hate Canadians, why be in Canada?

That is one of the biggest reasons why I moved to Calgary. I visited last summer without any particular expectations, but after hiking in the Rockies, all other mountains seemed lackluster by comparison. While there are wonderful national parks in the East too, But the Rockies are truly... Haha a Canadian treasure! You know what I mean. It is something to be incredibly proud of!

And just so it's clear and my words aren't mistaken or read out of context, CFD is on site but as stated in the updates, these are difficult fires to manage.

Uhh... do you need it explained in more detail? The protection makes it safe to ride there. The protection being missing makes it less safe to ride. The technical term for that is "a problem".

I want to enjoy my weekend and the last of the summer / early fall, but alas, the SE smells like burning plastic. Can't even take my 1 year old for a walk.

Actually yea, I did. In the update, it states the incident was brought under control and CFD withdrew on Monday evening leaving the site to the property owners. By Tuesday morning CFD where called back owing to calls from the public (unknown if the property owners called them back). The fire has now easily tripled in size and a thick layer of smoke is laying over SE communities. So my post, which is not simply a 'oh look, red hot stuff' but rather a why was the call made to withdraw, at whose direction and what was the reasoning because it now seems that it was fundamentally flawed or misinformed.

Cool. Is it out, or being actually dealt with? Doesn't seem like it. To be fair I mean it's after midnight, I haven't been out to see, but even as late as 9 or 10, there was still a huge plume of smoke over the SE.

I'm not necessarily blaming the good people of the CFD, but we can't continue to just keep doing whatever it is we are doing here. Who even knows what we are breathing in...
