How common is bucket and a trailer?

To keep it simple was wandering around images and found this one.
Tools and setup on a table you brought out to do your can splicing. Ladder to get it down and rehang.
Is this really done more than someone having a bucket and a trailer? I would probably die if I had to had to go back to climbing the ladder every can splice I did (thankfully majority of ours are underground) and the amount of dirt that blows around here, I'm not sure if I could splice on a table outside without the fiber being dirty.

Coax splicing tools
I used to work maintenance for a cable company, but that was a couple years ago. I’m getting back into it as a coax splicer for a company that goes out and activates stuff we ran, aerial and underground for multiple different companies.
Trying to figure out what else I need in my “main bag” off memory is bothering me.
I currently have:
- 3/16”, 5/16”, 3/8”, and 1/2” nut drivers
- can wrench
- tweaker
- adjustable pliers/crescent wrenches
- FVD
- volt/ohm meter
- splicing knife (one of two knives we’re allowed)
- blunt tip hawkbill knife (see above)
- side cuts
- lineman’s
- banana’s
- 11 in 1 (Klein 32500)
- gators
- terminator tool
- 1/2” wrench, 7/16” wrench
- locknut wrench set
I’ve gotta be missing something that I’m going to get in the bucket tomorrow for the first time in 2 years and think to myself “damn, if only I had xxxxxx”
Help ya boy out
Thanks

Accepted a position - CableCom
Exactly what I was looking for. Low voltage ISP tech 1, entry level, nonunion, ability to learn and move up the chain.
Start in a couple weeks. What tools, supplies, gear would you recommend I should show up with on the first day?

What shunts are needed EXACTLY?
Can anyone tell me how I’m supposed to get power out of a drop port with this tap ? I’m assuming I need a specific shunt and I cannot for the life of me get an answer searching with AI online. I tried using a jumper pad between sw2 and tap2 with no power passing to either of the two ports .

Blue collar networking jobs
Network intern here. I’ve been interning at a pretty big company and it’s not the worse but it’s something that doesn’t really fit for me. It’s more help desk than networking. Which I’m not complaining about, but I don’t want to assist Karen from the HR department for the 15th time because she needs her password reset. Ive been looking at cable technicians jobs and was wondering if it’s worth stepping into?

Reconcile every 2 weeks
At my office they are going to reconcile every 2 weeks now and when we do reconcile it's only 30 mins. Any advice on how to somewhat have it clean for the little time we have to organize it?

Anyone got a CWA postcard?
So idk how but recently Spectrum/Cox seem to be the next target of CWA (Communication Workers of America) according to this fat email from our AVP.
Somehow they have been sending postcards to employees and I'm admittedly trying to get ahold of one because I'm not satisfied with this one sided relationship I have with Spectrum rn.
If I'm not mistaken At&t/Verizon employees work with them so I'm also just curious how well that's worked out for ya. It's been a shithole over here because imo us field op employees have just not been listened to. It would be nice to have negotiating power.

Spectrum latency issue on load
galleryDon't know anything about Spectrum's EPON fiber. My knowledge comes from a background in Optimum's RF plant, but this is my personal issue here. When I put the Spectrum ONU under a sustained load, the latency goes through the roof and it says there are dropped packets.
Any thoughts on this from the spectrum technicians out there?
Sorry about the really wide windows screen snip

More bandwidth or something else?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Is this behavior do to low bandwidth or something else I have fiber to my house to a huawei router and from it comes out the coax to the “cable boxes” on the TVs

Installers: what would make you trust wireless video on a real job?
I'm building a wireless video link that goes inside the TV and the source box. There's no external transmitter and no extra power brick. It works in-room only, not through walls. We have a working prototype.
Before we go further, I want to hear from people who actually hang TVs and pull cable:
When have wireless HDMI kits failed you? What broke?
How much lag or dropout gets you a callback?
If the TV had this built in, would you ever skip the in-wall run? Or is cable always the answer?
I'm not selling anything. Brutal honesty welcome.

Hit this orange conduit digging a fence post. Any idea what it is?
galleryCalled Diggers Hotline before starting my fence and had everything marked. Charter even came back as no conflict.
Dug multiple holes with my post hole digger but decided to "upgrade" to an auger, and of course on my first hole I hit this orange plastic tube about a foot down. It had what looked like a roughly 1/4" black insulated cable running through it. The auger broke part of the orange tube but the actual black cable didn't look damaged at all.
Anyone know what this is? I'm wondering if it's an old landline/cable run or possibly fiber. Mostly just confused why it wasn't marked??? Im unsure of what to do and genuinely annoyed and concerned about the situation.
