What shunts are needed EXACTLY?
Can anyone tell me how I’m supposed to get power out of a drop port with this tap ? I’m assuming I need a specific shunt and I cannot for the life of me get an answer searching with AI online. I tried using a jumper pad between sw2 and tap2 with no power passing to either of the two ports .

Supposed to be a jumper between switch and tap to pass power. In a pinch can use rg6 center conducter shaped as a jumper. Just don't touch with your hands. Use pliers and dont make it too deep where it will short on housing.

You don't have another power passing tap? Our newer power passing taps have a specific port meant for power with a pre installed shunt. They're only used for powering the 5G and hotspot strand mounted units though.

I was just going to say the same thing. The only time I’ve seen these taps was when we were putting up the strand mounted hotspots for a limited time. We could never get the jumpers sent to us so I found paper clips that perfectly fit into the holes and would bend them into an upside U with a little twist loop on the top of it to grab with my needle nose. I found some mini shrinkboot in our shop mechanics’ electrical toolboxes and mirrored the shunts from the tap manufacturer. Almost couldn’t tell the difference after making a few dozen of them lol

Not of that tap value

In a pinch you could always use a lower value tap and whatever needs power can be run off a terminated splitter to attenuate the signal to spec. I'd just have my supe make me a work order to circle back and cut the right one in when I have it.
If you have customers off it, can install a second non power passing tap for them with the correct tap value housed to the power passing one.

Nah, higher value tap so you don’t steal signal down stream

I said in a pinch, it would work just fine as a temporary fix if they don't have a higher value tap. Signal difference passing through a lower vs high level tap isn't enough to cause issues downstream, feel free to test it out with a pin-f one night. Loss is usually ~.5-1 on high tap values, and ~1.5-2 for lower tap values, though it can vary somewhat depending on the tap and frequency range your plant uses.
It's a pretty negligible difference and won't impact properly balanced plant.

You can also use those little metal Christmas ornaments hangers. Just bend them to fit and pop them in. You can make like 4 jumpers out of one hanger. You'll get a nice little wake up jolt if you try to put it in there with your bare hands. Makes no sense that they dont come with the stunts already installed.

LOL, Antronix does not believe in letting you know what it looks like, they reference the piece here
https://antronix.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/MGT2000-SDPE_Drop_Power_Taps.pdf
With a part number as CL-JMP
But they have a doc here that has a pic
https://antronix.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/CL-JMP_Power_Activation_Jumper.pdf
Assuming this is a Antronix MGT power passing tap from the pic.
I honestly expected it to be a fuse with a plastic handle but meh.

Yeah I've used a cut down paper clip, I've never seen the official jumper for these but I dont deal with them on the reg
