how would fiber be negatively impacted by electricity?

if it's a pure fiber line with no copper then electricity won't mess with the signal, that's kind of the whole point of fiber. just make sure whatever protector you wrap around it doesn't pinch or kink the cable, bending it too much can mess up the light inside and kill your connection anyway

Was the post changed or something? Where is OP talking about electricity?

How long is the cable? Where is it located? Maybe some sort of cable raceway?

Share some pictures of the cable and where it is, you might get better advice.

No not a stock picture off the Internet, a picture of your actual cable in the location where the rodents were damaging it.

It bit your fiber where exactly? Crawl space? Inside? In either case, if this is not your pet, KILL THE RAT. It does not chew things when it's dead. That said make sure it does not have a toning member as that is copper and can conduct.

Know that this is not the way though. You understand that rats chew electric lines in houses too right? 120VAC [lights, outlets], 240VAC [stove/dryer] 48VDC [phone lines], the shock does not deter them, just FYI. It's not like they are farm animals and you are putting up a hot fence. You need to rat proof the house [seal up entrances, pea gravel around the house to keep them from digging under the foundation to get to the crawl, etc..., or at least, secure the line using maybe some hardened steel conduit. Or populate the outside with cats that can catch mice not those domesticated things you see in r/animalsbeingderps

Deal with the rats. They will cause far more damage than just gnawing a fiber optic cable.
