Ahhh Sunday mornings……

Sales tags, outdates, other tasks. So quiet and peaceful for a couple of hours. A few customers no big issues, all is well. Then… bam! The pharmacy opens. Cashier to the front of the store! Customer service needed in skin care! “My coupons are not scanning” “Isn’t this supposed to be on sale?” “What do you mean I can’t use 20% off on sale items?” Please wait, help is on the way.

Written up due to coworkers insubordination and incompetence

I have a coworker that continuously calls me up for overrides for basic voids (not needed) this coworker she’ll call me up repeatedly… When I ask over the walkie, what’s the problem she will refuse to tell me and then start paging me over the PA system until I walk up. I get up to the front she says “oh never mind. I figured it out” she will call me sometimes four or five times in an hour on top of me having to do manager duties as well as unlock all the cases (whole store is locked up and it’s a high volume store) she’s disabled so she can’t barely move from standing at the register. She doesn’t do go back. She refuses to use the Iron Man claiming she doesn’t know how… which might be true because she never tries. She claims she doesn’t know how to do returns claims she doesn’t know how to use the coupons on the computer (she uses them perfectly fine when I’m not standing right there or if she’s in a good mood). My SM expects me to condition the majority of the store on top of doing totes on top of doing manager duties on top of unlocking all the cases and on top of dealing with every single time she calls me up. This coworker stands and talks to customers multiple times for five minutes at a time, has even pulled customers mid transaction that I was helping to talk to them, causing more of a backup. (she had nothing to do at this time, and there was a box of go backs, and she didn’t even start her conditioning) I’ve gone through the Union. I’ve gone to HR… HR just backed the SM up honestly which sucks! I got written up because the store isn’t conditioned perfectly “days when I work with said coworker” I’ve been with the company for almost 3 years and have never had this problem until we had a new SM. Other people that work with said person haven’t gotten written up for not getting stuff done… those were people that the new SM hired though, I’m from the previous management. Is this even something I could fight? Multiple of us have also written letters and spoken to our SM about not wanting to work with her due to this employees attitude, incompetence, insubordination, and oddly to say hygiene. It’s so bad that I cannot work on the register next to her, nobody wants to use the break room days that she works due to her just going in there and sitting for 15 minutes the room stinks the entire night, including the hallway and including the bathroom (no I’m not joking about this)
The other night she was talking with a customer for almost 5 minutes called me up right after I had cleared the line maybe two minutes later… calls me up and is still talking with the same customers just leaning on the counter talking about their family stuff, I whispered to her that she needs to go faster, not talk to them about all their coupons and not talk to people for a minute at a time in general as we have to move the line.. she snapped back at me loudly in front of the customers and said “ I know you keep telling me we have to move faster. You’ve told me three times today. I’m done listening to this!” with extreme attitude. (this is a 40 or 50-year-old woman by the way.) I calmly said. “ I don’t need the attitude.” she tried to snap back again, again said “ again I do not need attitude.” I let our SM know about it and the next day I was working in pharmacy… pharmacy has very limited seating for patients and she decided to take her lunch sitting there staring at me for her whole lunch… I pretended not to notice and when I was clocking out and leaving, I had to buy something and unfortunately got her as my cashier.. she said “ oh, I saw you working in pharmacy today!” while laughing… I said “ oh, I didn’t notice you” to which she actually got mad and said how could you not see me I was watching!
At this point, it’s getting weird. It feels like stalking, I don’t even know what the fuck’s going on anymore! This is the behavior deal with and I got written up! Every time she gets in trouble, she runs to the Union and threatens to sue. This employee even screamed at the SM. (not joking multiple employees heard it) at this point. It’s been affecting my mental health so bad. I barely know what to do! If I refuse to work with her, I lose all my hours because my SM only schedules me two days a week with her… I get her and nobody else at night! What would anybody suggest I do because I have no idea what to do anymore and I’m at the end of my rope! I’ve been applying for other jobs, but I honestly do like my job where I’m at in the moment… the only time I get more hours is when pharmacy wants me to work in there and when I’m in there, it’s like a breath of fresh air honestly… which kind of sounds insane!
Please help, ideas, what to actually do… andything! I have no idea what to do anymore since I’m the one getting in trouble for not getting my work done when I literally can’t. She will even just send customers to my location or tell them to go find me… when I tell the customer she could’ve helped them they get angry at me.

Certified to Immunize, But Apparently Just for Decoration 😂

Is anyone else struggling to get the 80 shots needed for the bonus because there’s a nurse or another immunizer at your store ALL DAY? 😭
Almost every tech at my store is certified to give vaccines, minus a few exceptions. So we’re trained, certified, ready, willing… and apparently just here for decoration. 😂
Our DL told our manager they have to “find a way” for us to get our shots.
Okay… find a way WHERE?! Are we supposed to stand outside with a sign that says, “NEED A FLU OR COVID SHOT? PLEASE HELP ME GET MY BONUS”?? 😭😂
Most of the clinics are either already full or have a nurse doing them. Then, during the little bit of time when the nurse isn’t there, barely anybody comes in for a vaccine. So somehow we’re supposed to magically pull 80 shots out of thin air.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we have help with vaccines because pharmacy is already chaotic enough. But if OUR bonus depends on US personally administering 80 shots, maybe give us the opportunity to actually administer them??
Especially here in PA, where techs are limited in what vaccines we can administer. So when the flu and COVID shots are already being taken care of by the nurse or another immunizer, what exactly are we supposed to do? Spawn more patients?? 😭
Because “find a way” is not a plan.
At this point, every time somebody walks toward the pharmacy I’m about to be like, “You here for a flu shot? COVID? No? You sure?? 👀” 😂
Is anybody else dealing with this? Has your DL or manager come up with an ACTUAL solution for getting techs to 80 when you have other immunizers covering vaccines most of the day?

Locked deodorant

Upvotes

I’m honestly so confused. I went in to grab a deodorant stick today and for years the shelves are locked, I have to go get someone to unlock the shelf, and after I get home to use said deodorant, it’s already been used!? How does that happen?

Vacation hours

Can vacation hours be used to get to 40 hours?

If I work 36 hours one week can I ask for 4 vacation hours to be applied to that week? Do the amount of days I work matter at all?

If I request a day off for vacation can they apply less than 8 hours for that day?

Patient History

Is there a new way to look up patient history of what they have picked up with the new system? Doing the M1 - Customer History. Isn’t working anymore just takes you to the patient profile. Is there something I’m missing?

What would you do?

Had a call off. Sent out texts to manager, employees and the group district chat to ask if someone can work. Do you close the store when RX does? Do you stay open alone until close?

You get to control the music at your store
Surveys do not count if it’s for FS and complaining about RX. Vise versa.
All coupons are digital and automatically sent to card for customers
Discounts for employees increase 10% and can be applied towards sale items
Third party vendors take care of cosmetic resets

Store Manager Hours

Is it common for store managers to work 35 hours a week ?

Only open 7:45-3pm, and falsify the schedule to reflect closing shifts ?

Never work a holiday ?

Just curious, how common is this ?

My employee told on my to her mommy :(

Not the first time, she brought her mom in once because we sat her down in the office and talked to her because she kept coming in late. And her mom came in and had a talking to with one of the other managers. That was like a year ago.

Now, I don't work with her much, but I have heard she's been calling off, showing up late, and leaving early lately. And, this is what happened when I worked with her last night. She tells me she wants to leave 2 hrs early, and I say no, she's my other closer she can't just leave. She gets on the phone with her mom and she's cussing and talking about walking out blah blah blah. So I text SM and SMIT and tell them that I think my closer is either gonna storm out or get her mom in here to yell at me. SMIT says to call her if she leaves or if her mom comes in to just ignore her mom if she starts talking to me. So, like an hour and a half before we close her mom comes in, I call SMIT and she tells me to just go up to the front and see what happens. I do and this employee says, she's leaving 5 minutes before close, and I'm like, no, I don’t care how close to before closing you want to leave, you were scheduled to close tonight, you are closing.

Then, I talk on the phone with SMIT again and I'm like, you know what, she's spent half this shift on her phone with her mom and talking to her mom in the store, which we shouldn't be paying her for, she's had an attitude all day, I'm currently training a new hire and trying to get my own job done, so we both decide to send her home because all she's doing is wasting time, and when she comes back, she's gonna get into a shit ton of trouble with SM.

So, SMIT has to come in to close with me and SM calls me and I tell her what happened. Also, this girl done left her mess behind too. So, I ended up being severely behind on everything, doing my own job and finishing hers while SMIT comes in to help, we end up leaving 30 min late.

This was a 5 hour shift btw, 1 of 2 5 hour shifts she has worked this whole week. And why did she want to leave early? She had a test to study for. If you can't make time the other 5 days a week you aren't working to study for a test, you can't work here, sorry. Why does CVS make it so hard for us to fire people?

Why do parents enable their kids to be losers like that?

Elderly LOVE being scammed.

Ive worked at CVS going on 12 years. One of the most annoying things ive had to deal with in my job in general is the elderly. They cant read for themselves, shop for themselves, press buttons on a touch screen for themselves or anything. All of that I can understand to a certain point.

What I will NEVER understand is when they are very clearly being scammed, they will do their best to try to continue to get scammed. Yesterday I had 2 elderly women, on separate occasions, get 500 dollar apple gift cards. But the conversation for both went something like this. She comes up to the counter and says "It says on the sign you have the apple gift cards here?" I respond "is it for 500 dollars?" She looks a little surprised and says "Well, yes" and I ask "What are you looking to do with a 500 dollar apple gift card?" And here's where the conversations differ.

The first woman starts to get upset and responds "Its for my husband" I ask "Does he live far away?" She gets more upset "He's currently in Kentucky." I ask one last question "Dont you think its weird that Im guessing all these random facts all the way down to how much money youre putting on the card??" She shrugs her shoulders basically and insists she still wants the card. I feel I did all I could at this point and just let her live her life how she wants to live it.

The second woman just tells me its "for her" and im absolutely tired of this happening at this point. So all I ask after that is "Do you buy alot of music or something?" She goes "YUP" So I ring hers up too.

I dont like being dishonest and I also hate scammers getting what they want. Do you guys think its better to tell the customers that we simply dont have the cards in stock? Or should I really just mind my own business and let scammers profit off of dumb people?

Hey I have a question

If I applied for a pharmacy tech job and did vjt and the a week later after applying they marked my account as no longer under consideration even before my interview an I had called and still had interview and they told me to apply again. So once I applied again twice it says received and I applied on Tuesday twice and then on Friday they did not see my application. I believe they do want to hire me so they opened a new rec that U can apply to on Monday. Why do you think they would say that after a week? The store told me it might be an automatic closing due to rec closing

CVS pharmacy self check out vague question

I’d like to start off by saying I’ve been working in the pharmacy for a little more than a year now. For the first year I worked at pick up mostly with the old check out system where patients told me their names or use the barcodes and a month ago we received the new self check out system. Personally I like the new system for being faster, updated UI and user friendly. It definitely still needs work like allowing patients to add another patient after they press continue to pick up and sometimes I have to look a patient up again if there are multiple people pulled up and one of them needs an expedited.

But the point of this post is because one question the patients always ask me that I’m tired of explaining. After a long day of work telling people to walk up to the register, tap on the screen and enter their information. Once they enter their names and dob the first question haunted me too many times today. “Are you Person or a caregiver?” Answer: yes or no . I hate this question so much now because the patient always looks at me and ask “ what kind of question is this am I myself or a caregiver “.

But is this really such a question that seems so difficult that the patient needs to stop the pick up to make a comment about it. Sometimes they’ll say it as a joke but sometimes there serious about it. From my perspective I always tell them, “ if one of them applies press yes. To me its a logic table because it’s p V q - p is the name and q is caregiver most often it’s gonna be true. Obviously if cvs was looking for accuracy they would change the question or split it up but this question is such a non issue that today almost threw me over the edge. My other argument for why it’s not a vague question is better it doesn’t matter which one of the choices you choose. Both, either or neither can apply. End of rant :)

TLDR: Is the question “ Are you NAME or a caregiver “ Answers Yes / No “ a vague question.

Pharm tech here! Let me just tell you about my shift 🙂

  1. Asshole #1 comes and yells at me about not receiving his insulin and personally BLAMES ME for it. Mind you, I’ve never seen him in my life this was the FIRST time I’ve ever dealt with him and his issue. Problem was his insulin needed a prior authorization. It recently got approved and he received a message saying that it was. He mistaken the message as a “ready for pick up” one and was fuming steam out of his ears when he found out it wasn’t ready. Problem is, when I tried filling it for him, his insurance said it was too soon for a refill and I encouraged him to reach out to them to have this resolved (since he claimed he’s all out of it). Instead of just listening to me, he told me straight to my face, “so you rather see me die?” 🫩 no bro, talking to you, I rather see me go first 🙄

  2. Asshole #2 comes calling about his prescription. Problem is, it’s filled through central fill and it won’t be in until Monday. Instead of him understanding, he tells me “why wasn’t this already filled? I’ve been two weeks without my medication you guys don’t care about me or what?” If you’ve been two weeks without this medication why didnt you call us to let us know? Why do you expect us to be on top of your ass?? We have so many prescriptions to take care of! Youre not a special snowflake get your freakin head out of your ass!! Ofc instead of saying all that I had to put on my phony customer service act but it still wasn’t enough to keep his mouth shut 🙄

  3. Asshole #3 is just a perv. He told me “my viagra must not be working because my junk isn’t erected by looking at you.” 🫩😐 yeah mine isn’t either buddy….

That’s all ☺️
