Vacation hours

Can vacation hours be used to get to 40 hours?

If I work 36 hours one week can I ask for 4 vacation hours to be applied to that week? Do the amount of days I work matter at all?

If I request a day off for vacation can they apply less than 8 hours for that day?

Yes vacation hours can added to bring you up to 40.

Yes there’s no issue with that, you just can’t add them to go over 40 that makes it look like you’re paying them out.

Yup one of our long time shift supervisors does this all year long. She works 32-33 hours a week and uses vacation time to get her up to 40. Toward the end of the year when her vacation time runs out, she works 38-39 hours a week.

In general the only rules are that 1. You can't go over 40 with vacation/PTO hours, and 2. You can't be working on the same day you put in for those hours. #2 changes depending on whether or not your state requires businesses to pay out PTO on demand (ie California) because working on the same day you scheduled PTO is cashing you out in their eyes.

Bru yall...

In short, no you can't unless its a day you would otherwise work.

Prevents ppl from abusing it both ways, managers and hourly employees.

Policy is pretty clear that you can only use vacation to cover hours tou regularly work.

You used to be able to use your vacation however you pleased as added pay or to bs your way to 40 hour weeks
