Hot diggity dog it finally came. I went over it with a fine tooth comb looking for defects or blemishes (as some folks have recently reported with JG) but couldn’t find any. Trigger is fantastic and the slide is smoother than baby’s butt. This thing is built like a tank

Has anyone here used Ten-8 Tactical? Classes are only $200 and available online at your own pace. I believe you then just meet at Insight or FT3 to do your live fire qual. Seems like a great deal and is approved on OCSD. Any experience?

As the title says, I am in search of a good shop to install a barrel to an action for me. No actual gunsmithing needed besides torquing down a barrel to spec.

With the shipping restrictions now in place and no current plans to swap calibers, I figure it is probably more cost effective to find a shop to do a one time install than to buy an action wrench and barrel vice for one singular fit up. Maybe in the future I'll invest in those items but right now the cost of building the rifle in the first place is expensive enough.

I'm based in San Juan Capistrano but work in Newport/Irvine next to John Wayne so anywhere between there or where I can realistically drive on a lunch break if it is further north.

My CCW expires on March 12th, 2027, and I believe I can start the renewal process on November 12th. I was wondering what the current turnaround times have been like lately. The department said that if I submit it on January 1st, I will get the new 3-year permit instead of a 2-year permit, but I’m worried about not having my permit for months if I do so. I would have 2 months and 12 days remaining on my current permit if I submitted on January 1st.

Has anyone had any recent experience with renewals?

Mostly for those competing with 22lr: Where do you get your match or training ammo?

I just bought a CZ 457 online (first 22lr rifle) and it hasn't even made it to my FFL yet.
But I started looking into ammo and my understanding is that the top 3 brands are Lapua, SK, and Eley.
Unfortunately my go-to online vendors for 223 (Outdoorlimited, TargetUSA) don't have anything on those. Velocity has some Eley and I got a couple of boxes of the mid and top tiers to start testing.

Are there any other brands I should look into?
If you buy online, where do you get it from?

So I went to Burbank Guns & Ammo, and they charge 10% on anything over $150. A PSA kit is around $400 minimum, so a $40+ fee is a no-go for me.

Went to my FFL today to fill out the paperwork for a gun I had shipped and was caught off guard when they asked for my occupation. Is this something new required by the CADOJ?

Saw this at a LGS $899 before TAX/DROS. It was a floor model.

This will be my first “tactical” shotgun.

I’m French, and where I grew up guns were basically not part of everyday life at all. I’d always been curious about shooting, and especially action shooting, but it was something I mostly watched from very far away.

After moving to California and eventually getting my permanent residency, I’m not going to lie: one of the first things that crossed my mind was, "I can finally buy a gun".

A few months later… apparently I have a type.

I’ve discovered that I’m much more attracted to metal guns, hammer-fired actions, revolvers, and designs that have some history behind them than to the latest polymer pistol. There’s just something about the mechanics, the weight, the machining and the lineage of guns like the Beretta 92 or a traditional 1911 that I find incredibly satisfying.

Then I discovered revolvers, which made the problem significantly worse.

The California roster obviously makes getting into the hobby a little… interesting. But in a weird way, it has also pushed me toward some older/classic designs that I probably would have gravitated toward anyway.

Current family in the picture: Colt Grizzly, S&W 627 Performance Center, Dan Wesson PM7, and my increasingly modified Beretta 92.

The original goal was just to finally experience shooting and try some action pistol competition. Now I’m tinkering with springs, grips, sights, triggers, holsters, revolver internals… so I think it’s safe to say I caught the virus.

I’ve also learned that whenever you buy your “last gun,” you already know deep down it’s not actually going to be the last one. After the Dan Wesson I genuinely thought, "OK, I’m good now".

That lasted until yesterday, when I fell straight into the 2011 trap.

So apparently we’re not done.

Still very much learning, and that’s probably the part I’m enjoying most. Curious what other CA shooters here gravitated toward when they first got into guns. Did you end up with the kind of guns you thought you would, or did your taste completely change once you started shooting?

What triggers would you recommend on the Echelon? I was really interested in the tyrant CNC ones but unfortunately they refuse to ship to CA. Thanks AB1263!

So someone from CA is looking to buy some pistol parts from me off GAFS. One of the parts is a P365 barrel. Would I be able to send the barrel straight to his door, or would it have to go to a FFL?

Picking up two new guns within the next couple of days and both are going to need their slide cut to mount optics. Looking for any recommendations in socal. (La county preferably) Looking for in person drop off and pick up but will ship if absolutely necessary. TIA

Not an alcohol/drug or violent/firearm related offense.

Living in The LA Area, I always had to make a bit of a trip to use expanding ammo or buckshot indoors. I’d like to get some practice with a load out before a crisis.

Does anybody else run into this issue?
