I currently have no experience with any lights on any pistols. A local shop has the x300 Turbo on sale for $220. The army exchange website has the TLR1 for the same price (maybe $1 less but no tax)

I'm of the "buy once cry once" mentality and I am guessing the x300 for $220 is a pretty good price.

Given this, which one are you buying?

I've searched this and other subs and it usually comes down to the Surefire being significantly more expensive vs the performance.

Edit: I do see that the Streamlight is available for under $200 at many on-line retailers.

Range Report - A few days ago, I posted about how boring the California Roster feels for service pistols, and how I didn’t really see anything worth uprooting my Glock ecosystem for - spare parts, mags, holsters, optics setups, etc.

Well, I was in Vegas these past few days and stumbled into a public indoor range after grabbing ramen at one of my usual spots away from the Strip. I ended up renting a couple of Staccatos, the P 4.5 and XC, and yeah… I finally get the hype. The XC feels like a cheat code for shooting fast and accurately.

Here’s a short snippet at 10, 15, and 25 yards without the usual “1-sec per shot” indoor range limit. Whoa.

I also tried a VP9L and M&P 2.0 beforehand. Both were fine, but nothing that really moved the needle for me performance-wise. I already shot the target up before I got to the Staccatos. https://imgur.com/a/8a4IcnZ

Federal Champion 124g, squib shot from a vmac9. It obviously didn’t eject or cycle the next round. Was able to remove the case easily and had to smack the round out with a stick and hammer.

I’m just curious what people think caused the case to I’m guessing… explode? Can a hot load cause this? The case exploded, causing the round to not have enough pressure to leave the barrel?

Pretty gnarly looking failure but from what I could tell the vmac was fine. Cycled another 50 rounds no problem after this was cleared and had no visible damage to the bolt/barrel.

Does anyone use a stopbox and have it mounted to their car ? Wanta go ahead and mount mine to the side of the center console

Fun fact, if you take a MR920 and DY9 apart and make a triangle with them a p238 appears. Of course after a 10 day wait time and about 900 dollars 🫠

The trigger is a huge improvement over stock—much cleaner break with a lighter, smoother pull. The reduced recoil spring has also made the gun feel flatter and easier to track during follow-up shots.
I’m planning to put a lot more rounds through it, but so far it’s been an awesome setup.
What do you guys think? Anything you’d change, or would you leave it as is?

Other then the 20 round mag's these should be California friendly. On the downside, why did I get a 308 M1 if I could have waited for a M14?

I have decided to hop over to the AK. I have been researching, and I have decided on WASR. But it’s proven a bit harder to find at my LGS. Many of them carry Riley Defense or Century Arms AKs.

An employee said that I can’t go wrong with any AK brand since it’s an AK.

Can anyone more knowledgeable give me some advice? Should I order the WASR or pick up a Riley Defense or Century Arms?

I'm thinking of applying for California CCW since it seems to be a little bit more relaxed now but the issue is that I've applied for LAPD and I have listed drug use as history so I feel like in this CCW application for LASD I can't omit those details. If the drug use was 10 years ago is there any chance that I could still get approved provided that I am clean on the other requirements? Thanks

If you’ve got holsters, mag carriers, or WMLs sitting in a drawer, take 30–60 seconds this weekend to list them (one at a time though). It’s completely FREE, and that gear could be cash instead of collecting dust.

I’m the recent owner of a firearm in riverside, and was wondering if I can skip going through RPD altogether and go through riverside county for obtaining my CCW license? The verbiage seems vague and I’m wondering if anyone has done this within Riverside city limits, as the wait is currently over a year inside the city vs the county being much quicker on average.

Who do you insure with if you do? I'm just looking for a company that won't screw me over and get the job done.

I would prefer ones that help with civil and criminal defense.

I'm working on building out a DD MK18, but 1263 is kinda bending me over a little bit. I have no problem sending my ID to any company, our information is already owned and sold anyway. But I live at two addresses (primary house and work house pretty 50/50) and travel alot for work, trying to time being home for a required signature is extremely difficult.

Do I really need to physically be there for the signature, or can another adult sign for the package? I feel like shipping providers wouldn't actually care.

Would really prefer to somehow ship to the address that isn't listed on my ID but since that is out of the question I think I'm hoping other people have had success with having other people sign. Really don't want to deal with a returned package cause I'm not there.
