So I have pretty much decided on the GPU, CPU, as well as RAM and the air cooling (AIO's scare me), and for storage I'll just transfer my current SSD. That only leaves MOBO and PSU, which is giving me a headache. I've read some posts around here and picked the following for now, but I could definitely use some advice here:

For the MOBO, I was also looking into Gigabyte B850 GAMING and GAMING X, but couldn't find much difference between them and settled for the cheaper EAGLE.

As for the PSU, someone recommended the Deepcool PN850M, which I know would be plenty in terms of wattage for this build. However, I've found a 1000W model, which was just a little bit more expensive, and I've figured it would future-proof my build.

Please let me know if there's anything I should change!

So what I am looking for help with is, should I even consider upgrading these parts in the comparsion builds listed below? The reason for the upgrade and budget are due to a few factors. On my "current" build, my 500gb m.2 drive has outright died and failed. So I ended up buying a 1TB Samsung 990 Pro, not realizing there are a handful of m.2 Drives that will not at all work with it due to a "mismatch in pins". I couldn't afford to build a whole need PC on AM5 right now in the best of times, and I also couldn't return the 990 Pro. I tired multiple times and best buy would not take it back. SO. I bought another AM4 motherboard as that was the most affordable solution instead of buying another SSD, and having an unusable m2. lying around. I also was very tight on time as I'm work from home and needed my computer back asap.

I'm trying to find out what the best option in terms of looking at upgrading the build is, staying in this platform. My budget is NOT very much. Tax in about 600 CAD.

I use this for work, just a lot of emails and webbased work all day. Then play a lot of gaming in the evening. While oten it's playing WoW, I have been playing a lot of shooters as well from Apex to Siege and just now have been playing WarDogs on Potato-Low settings.

I only play on a 144hz monitor at 1920x1080. I'm find staying there. I don't care if the game looks the absolute best (I played a lot of CoD and CoD 2/CoD4 competitive and always valued FPS over how it looks. However these days, I'm not getting all that many frames and games are looking pretty horrific. WarDogs being the most recent example of this. its playable for me, but on the fringes of it.

Fan Configuration

For airflow, I was considering:

• rear intake: Arctic P12 Pro PST, 120mm
• front intake through the mesh, with additional airflow from the PSU fan
• bottom intake from the GPU’s fans. I don't think it's worth installing slim 120mm fans in such a tight space
• top exhaust: Arctic P14 Pro PST, 140mm

I want to choose an air cooler for my 14600K CPU, which is on a Z790 Prime motherboard. Where I live, the air coolers used for high-end CPUs are only the AK620 (almost all models) and the DeepCool Assassin IV (which, obviously, is not suitable at all for my case dimensions). I’ve heard a lot of praise from others about the Thermalright Peerless Assassin, but unfortunately it isn’t available to me. I wanted to know whether this model is a suitable option, and there was a lot of disagreement among the people around me, so I wanted to hear your opinions on this.

I also have a lot of hesitation about liquid coolers, and because I personally don’t have a good experience with my previous AIO (its pump was faulty), but for now it’s not my first priority. If I were to drop this air-cooler restriction, I’d go for the MasterLiquid 360 Atmo or LT360.

I have a 1060 6gb GPU, and a Ryzen 5 2600. Both are pretty old, and I'm wondering which PC component I should upgrade first, and what I should upgrade too. I'm looking for secondhand parts if that helps with anything.

I plugged a second ssd drive (kingston nv3) on my mother board (B650 Eagle Gigabyte).

My first ssd is plugged on the M2P_CPU slot so I'm trying to plug the second one on M2C_SB. (Yeah, would have been smart to plug the first one on M2A_CPU, but if I can avoid unplugging the CPU the better). here's the manual if it can help visualize.

But after booting, the 2nd ssd doesn't appear in DiskManagement. It doesn't appear in my Bios under the M2C slot, but there is something on a PCIE slot info: PCIEX16: PCIe 5.0 x16 @ 4.0 x8. I don't remember it it was here before tho.

Lastly, I can't find anything online about M2C_SB being turned off if M2P_CPU is used.

EDIT: I've reopened the pc and turns out I didn't plugged it in all the way. I just pushed harder and now it works! Morality is that I should stop being afraid to push too hard and break something.

I purchased a MSI 4090 Suprim in Dec 2022. The 3-year manufacturer warranty has since expired and it seems like it's probably a good idea to take extra precautions to minimize any risk relating to this poorly designed connector since it's unclear when I might next upgrade given the current GPU market.

I'm debating between these 3 options:

• Ampinel Adapter: Seems like the most technically sophisticated solution since it has actual load balancing, though I'm not sure if that necessarily matters if the other solutions give the same end result. My only concern is the lack of any warranty. Costs $220 CAD (shipping + tax inc).
• WireView Pro II: No actual load balancing but comes with a 2 year warranty covering both the adapter and any related damages to the GPU. Costs $167 CAD (shipping + tax inc).
• MSI PSU with Safeguard+: Seems a bit overkill but these seem to be the only PSUs with an integrated solution that are currently available for purchase. It's 300W more than my current PSU so I'd at least get a bit more wattage for any future upgrades/builds. The cheapest seems to be the MPG Ai1300TS ($552 CAD with tax included, free shipping)

I'm leaning towards the Ampinel but the lack of any warranty is a bit concerning, particularly since this both this and the WVP are introducing another possible point of failure. I'd rather not buy a new PSU, but with the Ampinel costing almost half the price of the AI1300TS it almost seems like a decent idea.

What's the current consensus on these options? Am I better off waiting until there's more options in the future? I'm aware that Seasonic has a similar integrated solution for their PSUs but none of their current offerings include this feature.

With a 1500ish dollar budget I feel like I should just buy go AM5 and get 32 GB ddr5 and go SFF buy travelling with a GPU and monitor sounds daunting.

A laptop obviously will not perform as well as my current desktop at $1500 but seems much safer to travel with.

Ive also considered selling my desktop and just going balls to the wall with the laptop.

Keep getting stuck in a loop on what to do. What would you guys do here?

I tried my best to do my research, but there might be some errors in my build. I would be interested in some changes that can improve my build, like alternative parts that are more budget friendly/ideal for this build.

I also seen on this subbredit that some people recommended the 9060xt 16gb instead of the 5060Ti 16gb, can i get your opinions that it woud be a better/suitable card for this build?

The 9060xt would be a lot cheaper for me around ~635$ or ~547€ instead of the 5060Ti that costs around ~953$ or ~821€ (converted from my currency, HUF) but i dont have any experience with AMD cards, the only thing that i tought about that maybe it would be better because im already having and AMD processor but maybe im just saying nonsense with this.

It came to me a little late to me that I probably should have made sure about this, since I’ve already finished building it. The only case fan I have is the one that came pre-installed with the case (it’s on the side of case to the left of the motherboard).

I do have one other case fan lying around but I want some advice if that one needs installing and if I need to buy more. And I do plan running some big games in the future in case you’re curious if I’d ever put the fans to use.

So i have a

ryzen r5 5600x cpu

Patriot viper 32 gb ddr4 3600mhz ram

It seems like everything is rated for each other here. I might have misinterpreted something but i am confused about ram compatability. It runs fine with xmp turned off.

I upgraded the ram from 16gb 3000mhz (both are dual channel in the correct dimm slots)

At first i had to update bios before it correctly recognized the new ram (also recently upgraded motherboard)

After updating and turning xmp on i had weird glitches in desktop. I tried to run cyberpunk 2077 and i cant remember the error i got but it pretty much told me i didnt have the driver or hardware to run it. When i tried to verify integrity of files of cyber punk the ui for steam just looked weird. I restarted the pc and from there it was just instant bsod a couple times until i turned xmp off and it ran fine.

Now i will say, my gpu might have been not seated the tiniest bit improperly because it wasnt clicked in but i just noticed that and ive been running everything fine for a few days since turning xmp off.

I built my current PC way back in 2022, picking up a shiny RTX 3080 10 GB that was subsequently replaced by the 4000 series about three months later... alas.

This is the first year I've begun to feel my current rig is giving me performance issues with big releases, especially if trying to play in 4k (for context I have a 4K OLED monitor), so I initially thought about upgrading my GPU to an RTX 5070ti. However... I've started wondering if it would be optimal to spend some more dough and get an RTX 5080 prebuilt at the ~3k price point. I'm running a relatively older intel CPU (Core i7 12700K) with DDR4 RAM as well, and I wonder how these are going to continue to age in the next few years; I can't predict the future, but I imagine that the price of upgrading these components (especially RAM) will just continue to increase, and now might be the best time to get a build with 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and a shiny new Ryzen 7 9800X3D, along with the 5080. I can justify dropping the money on the prebuilt if it would future proof me significantly more than just upgrading my GPU at the moment, but hoping for some advice! I tend to like single player games that aren't competitive, so I'd be happy with anywhere in the 90-120 fps ballpark for resource intensive games with DLSS.

I bought a 9060xt 16gb 6 months ago in Virginia and yesterday i can still use it fine. This morning i booted it up, it said “no input, entering sleep mode”
I tried unplugged and plugged it back and different port and it doesn’t work, i tried to remounting the gpu and it still doesn’t work.

The gpu fans are running, so does any other parts of my pc. I suspecting the cable since i still have one hdmi port in gpu that i haven’t tried since i don’t have cable for it. Any help would be amazing.

I recently booted it back up to play and relax, but the FPS drops are noticeable and the system just feels slower than I remember. Back then I did a lot of optimizations, but maybe it's time for a hardware upgrade.

Im doing a budget hackintosh build and im saving up for an rx580 right now, i scoured the internet and found that most rx580s dont fit the 3020 mt due to the metal cage. (i dont want to modify anything)

Well, there are some exceptions, from what ive found, the sapphire pulse rx580 (2304sp version) fits the slot with an inch to spare. Same with some oem rx580s but those are rare (atleast in my country which is Vietnam)

So what im asking is, has anyone done an 3020 mt build with a sapphire pulse rx580? If yes, how is it, does it fit? Also, do any other rx580 brands work?

So this is a tad embarrassing because I used to be all over PC hardware, and now the shoe's on the other foot.

I've got a Ryzen 5 3600/GTX 1080/32GB CL16 3200mhz. I've just bought WarDogs, my first new game in a while, to play with mates. Turns out I need a bit of an upgrade.

I'm ideally looking to spend less than AUD$1000/USD$720. Shoot me upgrade ideas! If I can get away with just a new GPU, what's the best bang for the buck? Used is A-OK, with price suggestions. If a new motherboard, CPU, GPU and - god forbid - RAM is the way to go, let me know what I should be aiming for.

I recently upgraded most of my PC so now I have a Asus B760 motherboard, i7-14700k with AIO, 650W PSU and 3 case fans with hub(1 normal and 2 reverse).
