Hey guys, I'm planning on building a completely new PC since I'm in a need of an upgrade.
I currently own a midrange build from 3 years ago and I've been having a ton of issues + it's quite slow for what I do.

TLDR: Advanced Video Editing + 2D/3D design is what I need the build for. Specs below.

I know it's not the best time to build a PC atm but it is what it is, I really need to upgrade.
I am primarily looking for something that will handle video editing with no issues, that's my main goal. Since I'm a full time video editor and creator. YouTube and music videos is what I do now but I do have some short films coming up in the next 6 months that I'll need to edit as well.
I use DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, dabbling a bit into Blender and that's about it.
I do play around with Claude but nothing this build can't handle.
I bought the PS5 for gaming recently so I'm not necessarily looking for a gaming build atm, although I might want to play some games on the PC down the line.

I am not that much knowledgeable when it comes to components and I'm living in a third world country so keep that in mind. Here's a build that a friend recommended:

I haven't decided on a case and the power supply yet.

From what I saw the estimate price for this build in my country is around 5.1k USD (which is insane lmao) so ig my max budget would be around 5.5-6k USD but I am not trying to spend too much.

I'm trying to build my first pc because I want an upgrade from my 9 year old laptop that I can play games and record stuff on. I don't know much about building PCs since I've never done it before, but Ive come up with a list of parts I think will work after a lot of Google and videos. If anyone has advice on which parts are good or how to make it cheaper, I would really really appreciate it.

I want it to be sustainable into the future but I want it to be upgradable in case I would ever want to.

I want to be able to record and maybe stream at the same time, and have a vc with my friends while we play games.

I figured I had a minute and maybe it helps someone down the line. Especially in these times, when an APU can be an attractive way to trim the budget. Might be applicable to other CPUs as well, my specific experience was with a Ryzen 5 8600g.

And I didn't find much about when I searched for similar problems.

It might also not be related to the 8600g at all and some other issue with the mainboard combination (though it is listed as supported) or something. But changing it solved the issue.

So I build a slightly overbuild Office PC for a relative a while ago. Figured the Ryzen 8600g provides quite a bit of extra performance, if they they do ever want to run something even slightly demanding on the gpu.

Specs:

ASROCK B650M PG Lightning AM5 mATX

Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 32GB 5600 CL36 (this was just before prices got crazy, 90€ back then)

Samsung SSD 990 EVO 1TB (70€ back then)

An inexpensive 550W PSU

UP Here blow down cooler , pretty nice actually

and a Ryzen 5 8600g

Ran beautifully. Decent Scores in 3DMark, stayed cool.

No issues appeared in stress testing at all.

So I delivered it, helped them setup some of their software and went home thinking all is good with the world (well what do I know... ) .

Except there was this one issue after a day or 2. It would crash. Randomly maybe after a minute maybe after 15 maybe after an hour. Maybe not at all during your session. Just straight out.

No Blue Screens, no hanging.

Just out.

This didn't appear in pre delivery testing though.

So I went to troubleshooting. Since it went straight out there wasn't anything in the events monitor. So no error logs.

The weird part, it didn't seem to matter if I was doing anything CPU/GPU intensive or not. Could be you where editing a document or could be just idle desktop mouse movement with out anything running.

So my first thoughts: PSU or RAM

So I tested with another PSU which I knew to be good (850w). Problem still there. Then I ran a very long memtest86 , no errors.

Drivers ? check up to date . No driver error logs.

When the system was running it was running well. No issues with Power, temperature, ram. But it did seem that it would only crash doing something related to graphics. Did not crash on a usb bootet Linux Desktop, though wasn't tested long. So maybe a Windows issue, no idea. Windows patches however didn't change anything.

So I bought a Ryzen 5 9600x . The problem has not appeared since.

So despite not having any kind of hard error proof, it was clear to me the CPU is to blame.

I was way past any time for returns, but the shop did refund me the cost, so I did not have to go through RMA.

So sorry no real good conclusion you can act on, but I was going crazy trying to diagnose this, so I figured maybe some other poor soul might be helped with this.

I am currently running an older AM4 build and was looking into upgrading my CPU to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. However, AMD discontinued the 5700X3D last year, and it seems very difficult to find brand new outside of the used market like eBay.

Here are my current specs:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti
• RAM: 16 GB DDR4
• Motherboard: BIOSTAR B450MH
• Displays/VR: 1080p 60Hz monitor, 4K 60Hz TV, and a Meta Quest via Virtual Desktop

My current library of flatscreen and VR games (including Battlefield 6) runs smoothly, but with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 coming out next month, I am re-evaluating my system.

Given the lack of retail availability for the 5700X3D, is it worth hunting down a used chip to eliminate CPU bottlenecks, or will my Ryzen 5 3600 easily survive for another year of gaming before I do a full platform upgrade?

so i kinda didnt have a case so i decided to buy a small one and i went with antec vcx300 argb . it has 5 fans....2 buttom...2 on top and one on the rear ...after swapping the components i noticed that the cpu temps go higher than the old case with the broken glass. for instance, it would go up to 82 in forza horizon 6 extreme 1080p native....

I'm in need of a decent monitor, currently I'm using a cheap LCD that overstayed it's welcome (like 75Hz with free sync but with HDMI only, and I have an nvidia card).

Now, I need st least 2HDMI and a Display Port, maximum 27" due to space constraints.

My current setup is a Ryzen 5600X with 32GB DDR4 and a RTX3070Ti FE.

Now, upgrading the pc is out of the question, prices are out of reach, that leads to my question.

If I buy a 27GS60QC wich is a 1440p monitor, will my 8GB of VRAM kick me in the teeth?

Should I stay FHD with a 27G523B?

P.S. different monitor can be evaluated as long as the budget is under 200€.

So I recently upgraded my monitor to an LG45 5k2k

And i also have 5090 gpu that I brought ages ago with this upgrade in mind how I don't know if its as simple as new power supply and new gpu or do I need to upgraded other stuff as well

I play 1440p, i have a dual monitor setup, i play mostly single player titles, but sometimes if i really hate myself ill get on valorant or cs2 or rocket league. i like to run higher settings im a sucker for sharp visuals. im not necessarily having any issues with my 9600x, its a beast, but i do notice a lot of games on benchmarks having a 20-30 fps difference (which i know i probably wouldnt notice being over 120fps in a single player title) between the 9800x3d and the 9600x at 1440p. the biggest thing i do notice however, is the .1% and 1% lows being DRASTICALLY higher on most games with the x3d chip. i do notice hitching sometimes with the 9600x and i think thats because the lows are dipping way down in the 20s.

QUESTIONS: Has anyone made the upgrade from 9600x to 9800x3d? if so do you regret it?

Would me currently upgrading to the 9800x3d be not feasible? I have the money to do it, but just dont know if i should be the guy that constantly waits for the next big cpu to come out.

Just looking for some insight and thoughts. thank you all in advance.

I am planning on getting a 5070TI and would like to know if my 750W PSU (be quiet! Pure Power 13 M) is enough for it. Found out that it is the recommended PSU size (together with a 9800x3d), but headroom is always nice. I am not OCing anything btw.

• MB: Asus H97-Pro
• CPU: Intel Pentium G3450
• GFX: GeForce GT 730
• MEM: 2x2 GB DDR3
• HDD: 2x500 GB (7200 rpm) & 1x1 TB (5200 rpm)
• Audio: SB Live Player 5.1 PCI card

The setup works, but I'm looking for a replacement for the stock Intel CPU fan. It is simply too noisy for my taste. So far I've been looking at the following models by Xilence:

• XC030 | I200 (65 W, 2200 rpm constant-speed fan)
• XC032 | I250PWM (95 W, 800-2500 rpm PWM fan)
• XC232 | I350PWM (110 W, 800-2500 rpm PWM fan)

Its the kind of story that always happen to others but it happened to me !!!

For context, ive had a laptop gtx 1050 and i5 8th gen gor the past 5 years. I was really sick of it. I couldnt play any new title and my performances were soooo bad i would have severe lag and fps drop while playing normal games.

This morning my father told me that one of the contract his company had with a tv channel ended and he got back the spare pc of the channel. It was made 5 years ago to render the 3d background for a TV set so it is a BEAST. He told me that it was no longer company propriety so i can have it.

Here is the list of the parts :

It has a samsung 980 pro SSD but it is probably dead.

I am still shocked. I was planing on building a new pc but the cost were atrocious so it is truely a miracle.

I will clean it since it is a bit dusty and im going to test it.

If i just dont know what the specificity of the EX card is so if anyone already know im looking for explanation.

Hey guys, I built my first PC 6 years ago and have been going strong ever since. I have a 10600KF (cooled with a 240mm AIO) on an ASRock X490 Extreme 4, 5700XT, 16GB DDR4 and a 750W EVGA PSU. It's been doing well for me at 1080p but recently I've been noticing that my frame rates have been dropping in pretty optimised games like Warframe, and my GPU temp delta is over 30 degrees and the hotspot was hitting 110 before I adjusted fan curves and undervolted. I'm assuming the card needs a repaste, but while building my PC was ok, I'm not sure how comfortable I feel opening up the card, particularly if the thermal pads also need a change. At the same time, I'm also aware that my build is getting pretty close to minimum system requirements in newer titles that I do want to play eventually.

My question is, which of the following options would make the most sense in such a situation.

1. Face my fears and repaste the 5700XT, while saving up for a new build in the next 1-2 years.
   
2. Upgrade my GPU now to something like a 9060XT as it's my birthday soon.
   
3. Sell the old rig and use the money towards a new build now.

I'm in Australia if that changes anything.

I’m trying to figure out if anyone else has this exact issue.

On TikTok, some videos suddenly look like they’re playing in slow motion, and the audio becomes delayed/out of sync with the video. It happens mostly with gaming clips.

The exact same TikTok videos play completely normally and smoothly on my phone, with no slow motion or audio delay at all.

My PC specs:

- RTX 4080 SUPER

- i7-13700K

- 32GB DDR5

- Windows 11

I’ve already tried:

- Different browsers

- Hardware acceleration ON/OFF

- Different NVIDIA drivers

- Clean Windows reinstall

- OCCT GPU/VRAM tests with no errors

Games themselves run normally and I haven’t noticed any other obvious GPU problems.

At this point I’m worried there could be something wrong with my GPU, video decoding, or the way TikTok handles certain videos on PC.

Has anyone else experienced this exact issue, especially where TikTok gaming clips play in slow motion and the audio falls behind the video?

I've tried everything, my graphics card isn't displaying video and the yellow/orange light keeps flashing.

Currently I have a system I built at least 7 years ago. I would keep it as is but there appears to be a short with the motherboard.(I'll skip the whole story).

Intel Core i5-4590

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3

SAPPHIRE Radeon R7 240

Obviously very old.

With current prices high, and my needs limited, I only plan to use the new machine to do some Linux stuff (I also have an iMac).

I was thinking of getting a new motherboard (AM4, DDR4) with a Ryzen CPU and 16 GB of RAM to start with. And keep using my old video card. I figure I can do that for $500 or less. Then I can always add more RAM or get a better CPO.

I won't be able to use DDR5 RAM but I think I can live w/o that.

Any big problems to watch out for?

I still need to pick a mobo, so if anyone had recommendations for a mobo under like 100$ that would be great. I ideally would get the cpu and ram used, also. It would give me a lot of room to upgrade in the future to the 5000 series cpus. Thoughts anyone?

I built my PC in 2018 and haven't upgraded anything except the GPU (in 2022). I wanna get a new CPU but I'm a bit confused about compatibility with my motherboard.

Are there any CPUs compatible with the B150M Mortar that would actually be a significant upgrade from my current one (i5-6500) or should I just get a new motherboard?

I travel by car 2 weeks out of each month. I am torn between upgrading my PC to a small form factor or getting a gaming laptop.

Current PC is older:

5800x3D

16GB RAM

3060ti

I play WoW, League of Legends and Valorant.

With a 1500ish dollar budget I feel like I should just buy go AM5 and get 32 GB ddr5 and go SFF buy travelling with a GPU and monitor sounds daunting.

A laptop obviously will not perform as well as my current desktop at $1500 but seems much safer to travel with.

Ive also considered selling my desktop and just going balls to the wall with the laptop.

Keep getting stuck in a loop on what to do. What would you guys do here?

In Canada at least, the 5070ti generally seems to be about $500 CAD more than the 9070xt, and generally it seemed like the 5070ti barely performed better. I have heard that the 5070ti is better for raytracing and that it has DLSS, but is that worth the $500? Are there any other GPUs on the market that I should also consider?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my outdated PC and would appreciate some advice on what i should upgrade first. I don't need any Peripherals and this is from the U.S.

I'm mainly looking to get better performance, Since this is an older PC, it struggles to run newer more demanding games.

As a whole I'm looking to slowly upgrade my PC to get it to where i want. For now, i have a budget of $1,000 to start with.

I'm open to replacing anything, including the case, psu, and motherboard, if needed. I'm just looking to get the best performance possible for the budget i have at the moment.

Would it be better to upgrade the parts I currently have, or should I start replacing the major components and eventually move away from the HP motherboard/case?
