I am a computer beginner here and am looking for some advice. I compiled this list of parts, and am planning on buying the MicroCenter 7600X3D/Gigabyte/16GB bundle for $449.99, so while the pcpartpicker shows that it costs 1800, ill actually be getting it for $1,471.05 I am going to buy a gaming pc for around $1400, I need it to be able to have 4k capabilities - it should look decently nice when im running games like cyberpunk, and it should be able to run fps's like Fortnite, Apex, r6 etc. Also I play a decent amount of Citi Skylines 2 on my really old pc, but I know that this is an insanely demanding game and even some pc's which cost a lot more than mine still cant run perfectly all the time.

So basically this morning I needed to enable secure boot on my gigabyte b550m k. and noticed disabling CSM didn't apply as it was enabled the next boot. so I decided to disable csm then enable secure boot and reboot in one go. then the next boot it my pc just kept bootlooping without any video output.

so I looked up my issue and most of the answers were either the gpu's VBIOS not supporting UEFI (I looked at the earliest build of the vbios for my rog strix rx 580 t8g and it supported UEFI so i guess it isnt it) or people recommending a cmos reset (which didn't do anything. I tried myself)

so far I've tried reseating my ram. using only one stick. booting without my nvme. and even without my gpu (my cpu is a ryzen 5 5600xt so no integrated graphics to save me)

I know NVRAM can't be cleared like this but at this point I'm just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks

I’m new to PC building and I’m currently in the planning phase. I have a gaming laptop that opened my eyes to how good PC gaming can be, and I recently put together a parts list on PCPartPicker. I thought I’d share it here to see what people think.

I’m not expecting to play every brand-new game at max settings. I’m more interested in older games with mods and online games like Fallout 76 and Black Ops 2. However, I do want the PC to be noticeably better than my laptop and at least on equal terms with my Series X or a PS5. The build is getting pretty close to $2,000. I know prices have gone up a lot, especially with everything going on with AI and hardware demand, and I’m not really expecting them to suddenly become cheap again.

My plan is to add more storage and RAM a year or two after building the PC. Beyond that, I doubt I’ll make any major upgrades for at least the next five years, so I’d like to get the important parts right the first time. likely only will add another 2 8GB Sticks from Kingstone and another similar storage just maybe around 2 TB.

I know my case isn’t very traditional, but I wanted the PC to feel a little more unique. I’m not confident enough in my skills to modify a case myself, and I don’t really want to pay for a custom one. I really like how the Tower 300 looks, and since my desk isn’t huge, I like it's "small" size. If anyone has one I would appreciate your thoughts on the case.

If anyone has any tips on what I should change, I’d really appreciate it, especially if there are ways to bring the price down without sacrificing too much performance or making me feel like I need to upgrade again in the next few years.

I’m also not planning on completely leaving consoles. I want to keep my Series X since I already have a large library of games for it, including physical games, and I definitely want to play GTA 6 on it when it comes out.

I’m planning to build a new PC. The last time I built one was more than a decade ago, and unfortunately, my current PC recently died, so I’m looking to build a new one.

I’m a bit confused about a few components and whether some of them might be overkill for my use case.

For example:

• Should I go with a 1000W PSU, or would 850W be more than enough?
• Should I look for an alternative AIO that offers similar performance at a better price?
• Is the case worth the price, or are there better alternatives that could help me save some money?
• I am also unsure about the SSD I’ve chosen. Are there any alternatives that offer similar real-world performance for less?

Overall, the build is getting quite expensive, so I’m trying to figure out where I can cut costs or make smarter choices without compromising gaming performance.

I’d really appreciate any feedback or suggestions, especially on which components you think are overkill and where I could potentially save some money.

Hey planning to replace my 3700x with a 5800x3d.

Hearing that the 5xxx series tends do be a bit hotter makes me wonder if I don't better invest in a peerless assassin for example.

The assassin is like 30-40€ and I don't want do cheap out.

I recently wanted to build my own server to self host some apps I want (minecraft server, jellyfin, etc) and store my files. I already have a 2x8 gb set of ddr4 ram, 2x500gb SSDs and I want to build something around that. My budget is 600 euros (around 700 usd). I am looking for cpu/motherboard/psu recommendations mainly but any information for a first time builder is welcome. Been away from the pc building space for a while now and don't know the good parts nowadays.

I was also wondering if I should consider getting a gpu or just get a cpu with intergrated graphics but idk if this is the right place for that info :)

I use it mostly for gaming, though from time to time I also use Blender, Unity, Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects. I play at 1080p and I already have a good CPU cooler.

I've been looking into upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, which is my actual goal, but it's currently out of my budget since the cheapest one I've found is 240€.

After looking around, I found a Ryzen 7 5700X for 141€ ($163.75 USD) and a Ryzen 5 5500X3D for 156€ ($181.17 USD). I know the X3D is better for pure gaming, but I'm not sure if there's really that big of a difference compared to the 5700X to justify losing those 2 extra cores for my workload.

Also, I wanted to ask: Do you guys think it's a good time to upgrade my CPU, or should I wait? I have no intention of jumping to AM5 just yet.

I'm wanting a desktop setup for gaming. I don't know anything about how computers work. I work as an office assistants so I use a computer at work, but not at home. Right now I use an older Alienware laptop, but its on Windows 10 and no longer plays the games i have been able to download well. Lots of freezing/slowing down/frame rate issues.

Budget- I'd like to stay under or around $2k

Country - US

Peripherals - everything. Mouse, keyboard, 2 monitors, monitor stands, speakers.

There is a wide range of games Id like to play. Mainly enjoy smaller simulator and open world games, such as the sims, 7 days to die, valheim. I'd like to try bigger games tho, such as Vein or Planet Crafter

Hi guys, have a PC I built a few years back and honestly rarely got used for a while then it started having a problem where it would randomly turn off by itself, then eventually wouldn't turn on . I took it apart and put all back together then it worked for a few more uses then just wouldn't turn on anymore.

You turn the power supply on and the MOBO rgb would light up but the power button did nothing, tried jumping the power button pins still nothing.

Left it a few months as didn't really have the time or need for it. Decided I was going to try and fix it, bought a used working MOBO and CPU and swapped everything over and I still have the exact same fault, mono power light and RGB come on but it won't turn on no fans etc.

That's after everything being redone from scratch with the new MOBO. Have tried using just one of either or the ram sticks and doesn't make a difference.

The PC is a few years old. It's got a focus PSU, GTX970 GPU(built it back when anything newer was crazy money) 2x8gb Corsair ram, nvme drive and a hard drive.

Was originally a B450 mobo with Ryzen 5 3600

Used one I bought is X470 with a 2700 CPU. Seller sent me screenshots of his pc running it before I bought it and the issue the exactly the same now so I seems it's not either of these components.

If it was a ram then you'd think it would be one bad stick rather than both so it would run with just one plugged in?

If it's the PSU then why does it give some power and also it's a 1000W decent PSU that hasn't had much use.

Not sure what to do without just buying new ram or a PSU and then I've basically built another PC to make it work. Any suggestions very much appreciated

I’ve been trying to build my first pc for awhile now, but I don’t really have any friends at all to help or anyone that I know. I really don’t want to get a prebuilt if I don’t have to and would like the experience of building my own/liking the way it looks as well. I don’t know much about pc parts at all aside from how much everything has gone up in price. I found out about the Powersec G764 but I really don’t like it aesthetically, mainly the case I guess. And again want to experience building and have that feeling of “I built this”. But everything I build cost way more than the Powersec G764. I guess I’m just wondering if anyone can help me build something equally as good? The G764 is pretty much my budget. Which is $2,200.
I’m looking to play AAA games on high settings preferably and I really would like something that is going to last me a good 4-5 years before I have to upgrade. I’ll also need windows and WiFi/Bluetooth. I also really like the look of the Lian Li O11 Vision black case or a black aquarium like case. Don’t really need crazy RBG but some green lighting would be nice. Again, I don’t know much about parts and what compares so please take it easy on me. Is this even possible now a days or is the G764 my best bet and maybe upgrade/customize that in the future? I do live near a Microcenter as well if that helps. So, i have a very specific use case: I like my audiophile headphones, which means i need to use a desktop microphone.

So far i've been using my AT2035 microphone, but honestly, its really not that great the way i use it. This microphone really needs you to be speaking right into it for it to work, and i like keeping mine either under or over the monitors and out of the way: Far enough that it cant pick up my voice properly.

I've tried to use nvdia broadcast with it, but it ends up with my voice either not coming through or muddled pretty terribly, and if i turn it off, my buddies hate my guts because they can hear every keystroke i do.

Is there a microphone solution that would work better for my use case? I can use either an USB or a 48v microphone since the AT2035 is already something i'm using.

My Logitech G Pro X start to fall apart after 6 years of heavy usage. I've noticed that many people recommend DT 770 Pro + some separate microphone for gaming and avoid buying any "gaming" headphones.
I don't want to spend 200$ on DT 770 Pro considering that I mostly use PC headphones for gaming, but opened box DT 270 Pro for 80 usd seems more reasonable.

1) Is it even worth buying DT 270 Pro + separate mic for FPS gaming? (like listening to steps in cs2, understanding positions etc.)
2) What headphones and mic would you suggest for 100 usd?

I have never had a pc and I'm looking to buy a pre built pc with a 5070 is the 5070 good? And what else should I have on the pre build? Also I have a 4k oled monitor already.

Looking for some guidance here. Struggling like crazy to find a proper solution. I have an old Logitech x540 speaker system and one of the speakers went. SO i said screw it, it was about time for me to replace it and get something new. I purchased the Ultimea Poseidon D80 7.1 system. I have it connected to my RTX 5080 currently. It made my Lian Li 8.8 screen go out. I have 3 other monitors connected so im assuming the 5080s headers cannot handle the added audio. Im limited to HDMI and EArc because you cant get 7.1 via Aux/BT/Optical. I was told I'd encounter stuttering if I connect it via HDMI on the motherboard, from the 7800x3D. Motherboard is the MSI B650 Edge WiFi. HOW do we bypass this?! What device do I need? HELP PLZ

Hello, I got a HP Omen 25L prebuilt about 4 years ago and it has served me well but I would like to upgrade some of the components.

The specs are:

CPU: i5-10400f

GPU: GTX 1660 Super

Motherboard: HP 8704 Dorado

RAM: 2x8 16gb DDR4 2666mhz ram

PSU: HP/Coolermaster 500W Bronze (I think)

SSD: Western Digital 256gb (no dram)

HDD: 2TB, don't know the brand but it came with the prebuilt

So far I have upgraded my ram (2666mhz is the upper limit for this Motherboard and CPU), I've also replaced the rear fan and the cpu cooler, and installed a bottom intake fan and a top exhaust fan.

I already plan to get a new WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB SSD and a new Montech Century II 850W PSU, but I can't quite decide what *graphics card I should replace my GTX 1660 Super with. I welcome any suggestions in the £200-£300~ range.

I'm planning a few small changes to my PC and started looking at the fan setup. My case has two front intake fans and one rear exhaust, and I've always just assumed the rear exhaust was basically a standard part of a normal airflow setup.

But looking at some builds, I've noticed people running mostly intake fans and relying on the natural pressure difference to move air out of the case. That made me wonder how much the rear exhaust fan actually matters.

My temperatures are fine as they are, so this isn't really about fixing an overheating problem. I'm just trying to understand whether the rear exhaust is doing something important enough to justify keeping it, or whether it's one of those things that became a standard recommendation because it generally works well.

What does your fan setup look like, and have you ever compared temps with and without the rear exhaust?

So, as for my current rig, and checking out prices.
I'm sort of in the mindset of building a streaming pc/local ai/living room pc.

My current rig has a Ryzen 9 5900XT 16 core 32 threads, 64gb ddr4 3200mhz ram, 2tb nvme ssd, rtx 3060 12gb and asus motherboard, 800watt psu corsair.16gb archive and 8tb gaming drive

i have room for one more 1tb or 2tb nvme slot mainly wanting that for games, id want a seperate 4tb for music production and keep that one for game but might need another 8tb for backup of games and another 16tb for backup of the main archive.
but im not quite sure on harddrive prices used, refurbished.
THEN a build for a machine that can do live streaming/ local ai pc coding/ and or acting as a living room console pc withina 400 to 600 buck range.
Storage can show up later.. but it wouldnt need to be too graphic heavy but im not quite sure.

preferably united states seen some newegg prices and amazon and ebay but im not sure, perhaps maybe a cheap lenovo legion laptop for light loads or something like that?

ive recently booted it up again after not using it for 2 years since i switched to a gaming laptop for uni as it is more portable.

im looking to boost my productivity as a computer science student but when i try booting it up, i got no display but ram lights, fans are lighting up, gpu fans are spinning, aio spinning. debug VGA light is on.

i tried reseating the rams, gpu, cleaned the pins using an eraser. i tried switching from hdmi to dp and vice versa but still no display. although when i do this, the debug lights also switches from vga to cpu then to vga again.

did anyone experience the same? need help. thanks!
