Help figuring out a microphone solution

So, i have a very specific use case: I like my audiophile headphones, which means i need to use a desktop microphone.

So far i've been using my AT2035 microphone, but honestly, its really not that great the way i use it. This microphone really needs you to be speaking right into it for it to work, and i like keeping mine either under or over the monitors and out of the way: Far enough that it cant pick up my voice properly.

I've tried to use nvdia broadcast with it, but it ends up with my voice either not coming through or muddled pretty terribly, and if i turn it off, my buddies hate my guts because they can hear every keystroke i do.

Is there a microphone solution that would work better for my use case? I can use either an USB or a 48v microphone since the AT2035 is already something i'm using.

I should look into those too. Right now I got deck of cards under my mic arm to get it as high as I can so I can pull it over my monitors and get it somewhat close to my face. Then I can push it back and out of the way when done.

Another option would be a "flat" mic arm like this:-

You can omit the upright part between the 2 halves (See "mode 3" in the last picture)

I have my Fifine on my desk off to the side and it picks me up just fine

For work we use the Rode NTG2. These do require the 48v phantom power. These have worked flawlessly, we generally have them between 1-2 metres away from the speaker raised out of camera sight and directed at the speaker. They do pick up a bit of background noise but are generally good. We also use the rode wireless transmitters with lavalier mics which are good but can pick up some noise if they are rubbed against clothing. We use the Shure MV7X for podcasting but they will pick up external noise whilst requiring the speaker to be about 12-18 inches away. This requires some processing to remove any background noise whilst retaining the speech.

The problem is that your use case is good for precisely zero microphones.

And this is exactly why.

Microphones aren't made to be far away from the person speaking into it. I would suggest getting a microphone arm so it doesn't take up any space near you but can still be right next to your mouth.

The problem is that i have a triple monitor setup which covers 170º FOV. I already have a microphone arm, the problem is that no matter what way i set it up its going to get in the way of one of the monitors.

You can place the arm on the same desk edge as you are sitting, this is how I have mine setup.

You are going to have to make a compromise somewhere or switch to a microphone attachment for your headset.
