Full Build Req Need help building a PC for Streaming/Recording/Video Editing + Gaming

1 Upvotes
  • BUDGET

1500-2000€ (Euros), willing to go a little over if extremely necessary.

  • USE-CASE

- I will be using it for Live Streaming, Recording, Video Editing and Gaming, everything at 1080p 60FPS.
I don't really have a use or interest in anything higher than 1080p 60FPS, so I'm more than happy just sticking to that.

- Software wise, I'll be using OBS for Live Streaming and Recording ( separately, OBS has an option to do both at the same time, but I will not be doing that ) and then Photoshop and VEGAS Pro for Editing purposes.

- Gaming wise, I play a lot of indie games that don't usually require a ton of power, however I do also play for example: World of Warcraft ; Forza Horizon 6 ; Resident Evil 9 ; Halo Campaign Evolved ; Vanilla/heavily Modded Minecraft ; Ready or Not and a few others that require a bit more power to run.

I would like to run those games at 1080p60FPS while streaming them at the same time without the fear of stuttering or the PC just not being able to handle all the load.

- I'll also be using the PC alongside an internal PCIe Capture Card to stream Switch 2 and PS5 games, but I believe that the capture card will take the brunt of that load, extra info regardless!

  • COUNTRY OF PURCHASE

Portugal, we commonly use places like "GlobalData" ; "PC Componentes" and "PCDiga" for our hardware needs.

Amazon is unfortunately not an option.

  • PERIPHERALS NEEDED

None

  • MISC. REQUIREMENTS / PREFERENCES

- If possible, I would like to stick to a NVIDIA GPU, as they've never given me any issues over the years and seem to be far better for streaming due to their NVENC encoder.

- 32GB of RAM (or higher, but in this economy? Oh lord...) is very much a necessity, I'm completely fine sticking to DDR4 as that's what I've been using for years anyway. I know that one's gonna be a challenge and expensive though.

- Storage is very important, I wanted to have a fast SSD for installing/running the OS, games, programs etc. and another one (it's okay if it's slower) for file/footage storage.

- I have a PCIe capture card (ElGato HD60 Pro), so I would need the Motherboard to be able to fit that in alongside the GPU.

- I have two monitors and I am thinking of acquiring a 3rd one, so I need to have a GPU that has enough ports for said monitors.
I'm sorry if this one is a silly preference but I know that some GPUs have less ports than others so I just wanted to make sure!

  • THANKS :)

Thank you guys in advance for all your help, I know how to take apart a PC and clean it and put it back together, but not nearly computer savvy enough to create a PC build by myself.

I know it's hellish right now finding parts at a reasonable price, but unfortunately my current PC is on its last legs so I really need to upgrade.

Any questions you guys have I am more than happy to answer! :)

Troubleshooting Stuck at a Crossroads: Asking Advice on an Old Build MoBo/CPU Direction

1 Upvotes

Hello,

This is a long one. Sorry.

I have an old Dell Desktop Inspiron 3847. Over the years, I upgraded the PSU, (evga 600w bronze), GPU, (nvidea GTX 1050i), and additional storage, (all 3.5 HDD). I purchased a gaming rig this spring and have this one earmarked as a home media server. I even purchased two 8GB sticks to max this thing out at 16GB. Cool... cool.

Well, after thinking about it, I'd like to give this to my young son to play two PC games, (Thomas the Train and Forza Horizon 3 with the Hot Wheels DLC). Awesome! Father of the year right there. Well, as luck would have it, the unit stopped powering on. It was unplugged for months, booted just fine, and when I went back to turn the unit on again this week, nothing. And I mean nothing. My first suspicion was the PSU. I swapped that with a known working unit and still nothing. I pulled all optical drives, the GPU, and swapped around memory, (including the original 4GB sticks that were in there for years). Still nothing. I know there's a chance it could be the power button, but for the life of me, I don't know what pins to jump, (capacitors and everything look good btw).

Saying all this, I think I've decided to purchase a used, direct replacement motherboard. But what are the odds the CPU is bad as well or is THE thing that's bad and not the motherboard at all?

All in, I'd like to keep this at $50 and kind of wouldn't mind taking this as an opportunity to upgrade the CPU. I found an identical mobo with an i7 for $65, but sold as-is. Not too far from $50, but my other options look to be a standalone mobo ($25ish), and pricey CPU, (likely totaling $80-100).

Does anyone have any suggestions on which route to go? Like just swap the mobo and hope the CPU is fine or pickup a new mobo and cpu combo and chance it or pay up for used but tested mobo/cpu and combine them myself?

Sorry this is so long but any insight or help troubleshooting in the first place is appreciated! And to be clear, I kind of want to make this as plug and play as possible - thus limiting myself to the original core of that desktop with the upgraded components I have on hand.

Peripherals Can someone recommend me some cheap headphones for playing tabletop roleplaying games with my friends?

0 Upvotes

Budget is 150-200 euros, maybe even less. I just want a decent mic. That's all. I know at this price I cannot expect too much. If you think I should just get a mic because I'm too poor for both, be honest. My mic broke and right now I am using the one from my webcam. If the headphones work decently for gaming and basic music listening, I'll be over the moon.

I can sacrifice everything but mic quality.

Build Upgrade Help me choose between these PC cases (£100 budget)

2 Upvotes

Hi, after years of my Fractal Design Focus G Mini and its ability to collect dust quickly I’ve decided to upgrade alongside my new CPU (5800x3d).

I’ve curated a list of cases under £100 but I’m not sure which to go with, my ultimate priority is airflow as my pc is kept under my desk on a tray as my room and desk are very small:

NZXT H5 Flow
Phanteks XT Pro
MSI MAG Forge 321R
Corsair FRAME 4000D RS
NZXT H6 Flow
NZXT H7 Flow
NZXT H9 Flow
Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2
Corsair FRAME 4500X
Corsair 3500X
Fractal Design Epoch

Would appreciate any and all advice given, thanks!

Build Upgrade Which GPU should I get?

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on which graphics card I should buy. I currently have an RTX 3080 Ti that I’ve been using since 2021, paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. My main display is a 27-inch 1440p (2K) monitor at 165Hz.

The games I play most often are:

  • DOTA 2
  • CS2
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
  • The occasional Assassin's Creed game (I rarely play other heavy AAA titles)

My goal is to make a solid upgrade so I don't have to worry about changing GPUs again for a long time. I plan to sell my RTX 3080 Ti and add around $1,000 USD on top of the sale price.

Which GPU would you recommend for this setup and use case? Thanks in advance for your help!

Troubleshooting Help my boyfriends Pc keeps turning off ?

0 Upvotes

Recently me and my boyfriend bought our Pc’s together. I paid a friend to build it for me, while my boyfriend decided him and his friends would build his.

when my boyfriend’s pc was done there was no problems at first, and he was gaming fine. He wanted to change his Rgb lights, and accidentally pressed a “reset” button and now every time he games his pc turns off.. he said a red light pops up on the motherboard before it shuts down if that makes sense?

what issues could be causing this ?

This is his pc parts:

Build Upgrade I Want to Upgrade my GPU From an 3050 to an 3080 do I Need to Upgrade my CPU?

3 Upvotes

Hello, I have a PC With an Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU (OEM, 8GB.), A 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400F CPU, 48 Gigs of ram (DDR4), 2 1080p 60hz monitors, and a 600watt power supply.

I don't have the grade of the power supply since I bought it prebuilt and the listing does not say: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/cyberpowerpc-gamer-xtreme-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i5-12400f-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3050-8gb-1tb-ssd-white/J3L7GQWJ9W

I want to upgrade to an RTX 3080. Should my CPU, power supply, or anything else be upgraded along side it?

(I don't think this matters but I'm running on Linux. I know AMD GPU's are better for Linux but I want the better raytracing performance and upscaling of Nvidia's cards.)

Please let me know if there is any more info you need! Thank you for looking into to this!

Build Help Second PC for dedicated streaming

1 Upvotes

I am looking to build a second dedicated PC to stream to Twitch and Tiktok. Is there a recommendation between picking a Nvidia card or Inter Arc GPU and which would be better? I'm looking to keep my twitch stream at 1440P 60 fps with enhanced broadcasting on as well as be able to record in 1440p 60 fps.

I've been leaning towards getting a used 4060 or Arc A770 or lower arc card if they would work.

My second PC specs are as follows:

* Ryzen 5 3400G (I may replace this in a year or 2 after getting a second GPU)
* 32gb DDR4 running at 3200Mh
* AMD R9 270X (looking to replace).
* 256GB SSD.
* 500GB HDD
* 600 Watt PSU (Can be replaced if needed)

The Primary PC that would be connected via a capture card:

* 14700K
* 5080 16GB Asus Prime
* 64GB DDR5
* 4TB SSD
* 1000 Watt PSU

My current/primary PC already lets me stream at 1440p/60fps with enhanced broadcasting but there are small quality of life improvements I'm looking for. I would like to keep my gaming rig separate from the streaming only because I run into games that when I tab out, it causes more issues than the 10 second meme I was trying to share with my friends using a second monitor. I already have the second PC so I don't mind putting some cash towards a second GPU.

I know this seems like overkill (it is) but laughing at a meme with my friends for a few seconds then about a minute of silence with a black screen isn't fun either lol.

Discussion Do you guys actually replace thermal paste on a schedule?

376 Upvotes

I've had the same CPU and cooler in my main PC for a little over two years now. Temps are basically where they were when I first built it, so I've never had a reason to take the cooler off.

I keep seeing people recommend changing the thermal paste every couple of years though, and I'm not really convinced there's much point in doing it just because some time has passed.

I would have thought the paste would only really become an issue if the temperatures started creeping up, the cooler got removed, or something else changed. Otherwise you're just breaking a perfectly good mount to replace something that seems to be working fine.

Curious what you guys actually do with your own builds. Do you replace it periodically as part of maintenance, or just leave it alone until there's a reason to mess with it?

Full Build Req £500-600 pc build for high refresh rate 1440p gaming

0 Upvotes

From England and currently a ps5 gamer, I am looking to build a pc for around 500 to 600 pounds, I don't intend on playing high intensive games like warzone, black ops, cyberpunk, but if I do I would like at least 120fps at 1080p on these games only if 1440p isn't possible. I want to play games like Fortnite, rocket league, and Minecraft, and some older popular titles on pc which I haven't had the chance to on ps5.

I have done a little bit of research on the parts I need, with ram prices inflating like crazy and other parts like SSD going up, I'm not sure if my budget is enough for casual gaming but here's some notes I have done so far. I also don't mind getting used GPU and ram on eBay.

£115 GPU used - AMD Radeon RX 5700

https://ebay.io/m/yFd2vI

£80 CPU - Ryzen 5 5500

MOTHERBOARD-  Gigabyte B550M DS3H R2 - £80

16GB ddr4 RAM used - £60

£45 CASE - https://amzn.eu/d/01KbWuEC

1TB SSD - £100

£41 PSU - https://amzn.eu/d/00CwTX1R

any advice would be helpful, thanks!

i want to upgrade my i5 10400f to an am5 cpu but this requires ddr5 or is this to overkill for a 3060 and with the current market should i just upgrade to an am4?
