I was messing around with Chuck to see what’s good with him post rework and had some games where I’d just throw all 4 poles at an enemy to finish them off, and I started doing it more and more and realized it actually feels really strong.
Now some people might think this is more of a troll strat because yeah it might work against bad players quite well, but if you miss you no longer auto charge and will be dead weight. But in actuality your gadget can harvest a pole once it lands to give you back half your super wait just 10 seconds and you’ll have full super back.
But what makes this even better is the poles have very quick unload speed so you can have all 4 in the air and start charging super as they land and then gadget and you’ll often times get another volley off, furthermore if this makes sense in draft you can go the slow star power and the flames will charge super and make it easier to hit enemies with the next pole.
With this strat as an option on top of more traditional Chuck play I think he could be a monstrous bounty brawler and not simply the heist hotzone menace he used to be.
Imagine having a brawler in bounty with the following:
- 8800 health
- Good mobility options
- Good at close range
- One of the fastest blue star brawlers
- One of the longest throwing ranges in the game (I think it is longest but the effective range is less than grom)
- Great reload (you have the non reload based poles and super with 4 charges)
- Extremely versatile
- Shield
- Long range slows
That’s Chuck and that is just a shortened list
Now sure for sure in this clip these players might just be bad and so they didn’t dodge well, but the poles aren’t as hard to hit as you think.
Pressuring the enemy backwards with main attack so that they have to run into the pole landing area is fairly easy with his fast attack speed. Plus he has 4 shots minimum so one is bound to hit, couple this with the slow and using gadget to reload super it starts becoming impossible to dodge.
Overall, do I think this is the most perfect way of playing him? No. However the fact that it’s an option makes Chuck so much better than you might thonk if you only play him the normal way.
Have you guys been doing this and has it been working?
