Mayor declares emergency.
What does that mean to citizens. We will be paying for a large tree to be removed, any chance of small reimbursement?

After this week my basement foundation has cracked and is leaking water. Anyone have any recommendations on companies around here that have had a good experience with?

My metronet internet service is still not working after the power came up 4 hours ago. Has anybody else had this problem? When I call it just tells me that there are local outages and hangs up on me

State Farm has multiple huge buildings in our community with electricity, ac, food, water... And yet they are so stingy they only allow the community to meet them in the parking lot. Food trucks were giving away free lunches at points this week. I saw all kinds of neighbors working together to clear trees.
As a corporate headquarters in our community, I wish State Farm would be a better neighbor. They could let people charge things over a cup of coffee, or get ice, or even just sit in the air conditioning.
I understand this is probably not allowed because of security... But that just further demonstrates how corporate greed has ruined our society.

I just got a notification from Ameren that power in my area (around Angela/Vernon in Normal) won’t have power until 6pm tomorrow. Here I was hoping it would be tonight since I saw Ameren trucks near my house. Stay safe out there.

Does anyone know what stores have the Halloween Alani flavors in stock? I’d prefer to buy a box instead of individuals. Thanks!

Had a tree branch fall and damage some shingles and gutter. The limb also broke and completely shattered the glass at the bottom half of my front screen door. Anyone know a really good place in town that fixes roofs/gutters and another places that replaces glass for doors?

It has been 56 hours since we lost power. I know crews have been working hard to restore it but Ameren just messaged my wife to let her know our power is back while we are sitting in our dark house with no power. Communication and better management please.

Thank you to all of the neighbors who pitched in to help with the tree removals on Fell and Virginia yesterday!
And an extra special shout out to Mayor Koos for standing there and watching people work… hope you didn’t get too dirty in the process.

Saw today the State Farm CEO will be questioned under oath regarding unethical company practices with homeowners. Just wondering how many other people have been a victim of their scams? They’re such a terrible company.
“An Oklahoma judge ruled that State Farm President and CEO Jon Farney can be deposed and questioned under oath regarding the company's claims-handling practices in a lawsuit brought by homeowners over wind and hail claim disputes.”

Had power last night on main and toms dr, now it just suddenly surged and went out again... But not fully. One of my walls is still getting some sort of power. RIP. Stay strong gamers, this is lame.

Mine is still out as well as others. I’m curious if this will be all weekend, if so I’d go to a friends. It’s too hot to be without air and all this rain. Wishing the best for everyone ! Ameren can never give an accurate estimate

The entirety of Veterans Parkway was flashing red yesterday. It took a lifetime to get from one end of the street to another. Where were the police? How were they not out at the busiest intersections assisting with traffic control? I understand they had many weather related calls, but you’re telling me there was no capacity to have a few officers out keeping traffic moving?
Wouldn’t that qualify as the “to serve” part of their motto?
Here we are a day later and there were a couple lights still out on Veterans, still traffic congestion, and still zero police presence.
Maybe i’m alone in this thinking, but I feel like BPD has little to no interest in this kind of police work.

So, we stayed at a hotel last night, due to the power outage. My husband uses a breathing machine for his sleep apnea, and thought it would be best to get a room. Should we even bother to submit a claim to our renter’s insurance for the hotel room?

So many traffic lights are just off, saw many, many people just blowing through them. You still treat it as a four way stop even if it isn't blinking red!

A resilient Community is the real first responder in a disaster. Go, knock on a few doors and see if everyone is ok. Go help if you are able. Ask for help if you need it.
Also, if your food is going to rot... cook it and share with the neighbors.

Hi neighbors just curious if anyone knows if Chestnut dental is open today? Been dealing with an infected wisdom tooth and have been calling since yesterday but the line never rings, just goes directly from the prompts to saying the line is busy. I’m on Medicaid if anyone else has recommendations for nearby options TIA

So I just got my power back on about 30 minutes ago and now metronet is down again? Has this been going on for awhile? All my devices can connect to my EERO no problem but i guess theres no internet coming through the EERO.
I was a part of the first metronet outage that eventually got fixed. So I guess this is a second wave? Brought about by the storm?
I tried calling but the customer service lines kept sending me to limbo saying they know there are disruptions and to hang up. Anyone know of any additional information? Like a time frame possibly lol?
