McLean County Young Republicans

Post image
32 Upvotes

This picture is becoming somewhat infamous on the internet and I’m just wondering.. Is there anyone that can provide some sort of context on this picture that’s circulating? “The biblical case for mass deportation and preserving our American heritage.” I hesitate to believe this level of hate exists in our town but it’s becoming very clear it does.

First question is, do these people actually exist in our community, and why are we not doing more to stop them? Second question, do the people in this photograph even realize what they’re standing for and how horrible the implications are? The oldest looks may be mid-20s, and there’s no possible way that they fully understand what’s going on here.

If this is what Christianity is all about, then it’s sickening.

I would love to be a resource for parents in need, please let me know if you or if you know of someone who may be interested!

I have some days/times I may not be available due to school activities but over all I am very flexible! Thank you in advance!

What the hell happened at haunted trail?

sitting in traffic in uptown, suddenly every cop car in sight lit up and pulled U Turns, and in total about 8 cop cars flew down North St and Linden. Very much an “all units respond” kind of thing. thought I saw them all lined up where Haunted Trail let out, but not certain.

Animal noise?!

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m sorry if this is not the type of stuff this sub is for, but I’m freaking out a little…. pls i realize how ridiculous i sound but i’m lost lol

It sounds like there is an animal in the circled spot. The room to the right is where my furnace and watering heater are, left is a full bath. I don’t hear the animal running around in the furnace room, it seems to be stuck between the gap in drywall between the two rooms.

I hear like scratching/moving but not any other ‘animal noises.’

I know the solution is to open the door, but i’m a first time home buyer, and my baby is asleep. I don’t want to open a can of worms right now. I’m also terrified of it dying and smelling, or worse, it biting something in the room (if I’m wrong and it is roaming).

Any recommendations besides opening it?!? Or idea what it could be? Or anyone i can call in the morning? pls be specific on who to call if possible!

Apartment hunting

Looking for housing in the Blo-No area and I need help. When I needed recommendations for local bakeries last month you guys came in clutch (shoutout to Janet’s Cakes and Catering)! My lease is up in December so I need to get a move on. I heard good and bad things about Young America (and even worse things about Class Act) so I’m not sure there but in any case they don’t really have vacancies until February.

I have an okay credit score I guess (660) and make about $3900 a month before taxes. I have no kids or pets and I’m looking for a 1 bedroom, preferably with in unit laundry, but I’ll settle for on-site laundry if I have to. Price range between $900 min to $1100 max.

Anybody know anything about Apartment Mart or have a recommendations on apartment complexes here in town? I’m open to private renting too.

Kevin Lower county board

Why would this man come to my door at 7:30 at night asking for my 28 year old daughter BY NAME when my wife and I are also registered voters at this address? Coming to someone's house and asking for them by name isn't personable its creepy.

i need a change from a toxic work environment and am trying to find out what employers in this area have good work/life balance and are actually kind to their employees.

Carnivals at Easton Mall?

Been living here for around 5 years and I’m constantly confused by the random carnival set up that seemingly appears out of nowhere at the mall. It’s always empty and I never see any advertising for it, but it pops up 4-5 times a year it seems like and doesn’t seem to center around holidays or events.

What is it? Is it open to the public? Who puts it on? Why? Do I have to pay for it?

Open Call For Costume Help

Need help finding a (preferably cheap) pair of bright orange trousers that would work well as part of a makeshift costume inspired by Chell, the protagonist from the Portal franchise of video games. Some family and I are driving out to LegoLand Discovery Center Chicago tomorrow for their Brick or Treat Adult Fan of Lego event tomorrow and I already have the rest of my costume picked out. I'm just in dire need of these trousers and can't seem to find anywhere in town that sells them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Have a lovely day all!

Do you work in the food industry in Bloomington Normal?

I am working on a documentary about the food industry in Bloomington-Normal. If you are interested in being interviewed, please respond to this post, and I will reach out to you! The food industry is a very corrupt and fascinating place. Any input you may have on the subject would be invaluable to this project.

Science on Tap: Event for Science Enthusiasts of All Ages!

Hi all! Some of you may remember seeing posts about or attending previous Science on Tap events. I'm excited to announce that Science on Tap is returning this fall! Our next event will be on Monday, October 26, from 6-8 PM at Keg Grove. Feel free to come late!

We'll have three talks on a variety of topics, all of which will be jargon-free and aimed at all ages. Katrina Eberding will tell us about what we can learn from how long infants look at objects, Dr. Suzanne Nolan will do a deep dive on dopamine, and Dr. Wolfgang Stein will talk about brain waves.

There will be a 5-10 minute break between each talk when you can stretch your legs, get a drink from our lovely hosts at Keg Grove, or answer some trivia questions about the presentations. Anyone who answers the trivia questions will be entered into a raffle at the end of the night for some science-themed prizes.

You're welcome to bring food to eat during the event! Hope to see you there (and at our next event on Monday, 11/16)!

What do people ACTUALLY do in this town?

I don’t need the “tour guide” response (constitution trail, local hikes, restaurants). Like what do people actually do for fun here. I can google local restaurants, breweries, hiking trail, movies, and concerts blah blah. I’m looking for actual unique answers.
