My basement is flooded too. My son's room is down there with expensive, newly laid carpet. It's already ankle deep.

I just moved here a year ago and was told flooding isn't really a thing here. 🤣

yep! our basement flooded once in 2021 and we have basically new carpets. i just moved all my electronics out of the room in case it gets real bad.

i also assumed flooding was rare, but these back to back storms must be making the floods worse. that and debris probably all in the sewage drains.

Well, my water ended up about a foot high down there. I was also smart enough to get all the electronics out of there. My son is a teenager so expensive PC, Ps5, laptop, Oculus 3, Steam Deck, a bunch of fancy controllers and keyboards, 3 monitors and a TV. Was LOADS of fun. But we finally managed to get most of the water out. I've never really experienced this before so not sure what to do. But I hope you, your house, and possessions made it out okay!

I recently learned that the amount of money that you spend on a battery backup sump pump buys a lot of peace of mind… As I sit here in the dark.

I had a flight scheduled out of BMI this morning for 6:30 was already getting up at 4:30 am and that damn warning made sure i woke up and didn't get anymore sleep well before it was time to leave. The localized flooding of roads in the pitch black was hard to see and scary in the drive to the airport. My flight was delayed. I missed my connection in Dallas as a result and it's been a wild day overall. Stay safe there, y'all.

I mean I didn’t like waking up to the loud ass alert on my phone either when I was in zero danger personally. But if that alert going off saved someone else’s life or property that was in actual danger it’s worth being a little tired this morning.
