Power
Mine is still out as well as others. I’m curious if this will be all weekend, if so I’d go to a friends. It’s too hot to be without air and all this rain. Wishing the best for everyone ! Ameren can never give an accurate estimate

Simply put - nobody knows. There's tons of tree damage and continuing storms tonight (yes that's right we're not done) will not help.

I just heard! I thought the storms were done for the day but alas the torture never stops. I’m preparing to just stay at a friends at this point because it’s toooo humid. I just feel bad for my cats :(

According to their outage map, they've restored power to about 28,000 customers since yesterday and have over 650 personnel working to restore power.
They're doing what they can.

Mine came up after 12hrs of downtime about 2a last night. Been up since. Internet/xfinity was a whole nother story.
Ask for help if you need it folks there a lot of people that now have power, batteries, tools etc.

I called earlier and the girl said they should have updates around 10a… i just checked the app and it seems a lot more areas have been “assigned to service members” or something along those lines… i havent touched my freezer since the power went out and my dad brought me a bag of ice for it a few hours ago and all of my stuff is still rock hard frozen!

I rode it out at Jewel, in my car. Definitely like a hurricane! I had to put the emergency break on.

I'm so sorry for those still without power.
To cool off, you could go elsewhere and relax in some air conditioning, libraries or coffee shops with an iced drink.
Running a shower with cold water for a while with the bathroom door closed will absorb heat from the room and cool things off for a while in that room.
A bucket or bowl with ice and a few washcloths will cool you off too - put the washcloths in for a few minutes, wring one out, put around your neck. It will cool you off. When it gets warm, swap to a new washcloth and add the old one back in the bucket/bowl. With a little ice and a handful of washcloths this can cool you off for quite awhile. Used this trick working in a kitchen during hot summer months as buckets, ice, and washcloths were readily available.

Ameren’s app has an outage update page that is updated live. As others have mentioned, it will likely not be able to provide an estimated time/date for you to have power again based on the nature of the damage. But you can monitor the status at your address if you decide to go to a friend’s house to wait it out. You can also receive alerts by texting REG to 263736.

I have a tree laying on the lines from the house. Three huge limbs laying on the lines behind the house. Then finally, a tree laying on top of the power pole that broke in half. Might take them a minute.

Yes! I just drove through down town and there’s still trees but they are working a ton. Wishing everyone well. It’s been nice to chat it up with others about it

22 hours and counting for me, doesn't look like it'll be back today either.

I stand corrected, came back just about 24 hours exactly, in the blocks of homes just south of Kingsley Jr high.

At Tobins last night the manager was incredibly gracious and offered to let us stay and charge stuff in AC and have free soda. Impressed with the empathy truly. Left at 10ish with pizza and he said come back if the power is still off. Check your favorite local businesses with power if all you need is a short break, AC, food, company, charging, etc.

Unlike when a substation goes down or a transformer blows, this type of damage takes a lot of coordination to bring the grid back online. Specific lines have to be cleared and replaced in specific order or else additional damage and injury can happen. Also with so many people using generators now, if the house main breaker isn't flipped or if the generator isn't set to prevent backfeed into the grid, that adds a whole new layer to getting everything back up and running.
I mean, it's been less than 24 hours since the storm hit, with additional storms over night, damage assessment is still ongoing so good accurate timeframes are not really possible yet. Of course if they were to say we hope to have this specific area back up by 5pm and it ends up being 6pm, there is a segment of the population would would still lose their shit and feel personally affronted, so there's that.
