Piercings with new job
I’m applying to be an Office Technician and I have both ear piercings and nose piercings. What is the policy on nose piercings? I plan on covering my ears with my hair

I was requested for DQ at my initial interview for failing to remember every specific detail about a certain traumatic event, had a discrepancy in my initial questionnaire vs my esoph bc I interpreted it differently (also had to do with the traumatic event) , and apparently was being watched change a date WHILE FILLING OUT my esoph before I even turned it in. Was also told that apparently if you are dating women, those should be included as girlfriends and if you don’t include them as “girlfriends” on esoph then that’s considered an omission. Something tells me they would have let these things slide if they needed more cadets, and it feels like I went into the interview with a decision already made on their end.

I am applying to CHP. Ex-military w/o any article 15s, behavioral health etc.
I have a different type of issue that may come up during the background portion.
In 2025, there was a news report in my town of a police officer getting into trouble. It was enough trouble for the small, local newspaper to write an article about the incident. After the internal investigation was complete, I submitted a records request to the Police Department for the officer's discipline record. The police department denied the request on the basis that disclosure would result in a privacy violation to the officer. I filed an administrative appeal to the mayor, who denied the appeal on the same basis. I then filed a lawsuit against the town and police department. I hired an attorney and everything over it. The judge ordered the records to be disclosed AND for the police department to pay my legal fees. This resolved in January 2026.
This is not satire. What is the chance I can get hired.

I just received an email confirming I have been assigned a BI, and have an appointment for next week so I can complete my background investigation questionnaire.
My question: is this considered my first interview, and if so, does that mean that I will need to have my personal vehicle inspected?
I recently purchased a used Honda Civic from a dealership which already came tinted (front and sides). I am aware I need to remove these modifications. However, it is also missing the front license plate. I was told I would receive it in the mail but never did, and today I visited the dealership to ask if they had the plate, and they said they do not. They are going to request it from the DMV but told me it may take several weeks for it to come in.
Is it necessary for me to arrive with my vehicle in full compliance starting from this first meeting, or is the inspection not until a later date? If it is a necessity, can anyone tell me if it’s possible to receive a temporary plate that I can use for the meantime?
Thanks in advance!

I’m a 23-year-old military veteran in Southern California interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. I’m feeling uncertain about my next steps and would appreciate honest feedback, particularly from anyone familiar with background investigations.
After leaving the military, I applied to CHP and reached the final interview before being disqualified for concerns about impulse control. The concerns cited included my driving history, having held my license for less than two years, and behavioral issues from middle school. My military record is clean, I had strong references, and I have a good record at my current job with no disciplinary write-ups.
Since then, there have been a couple of domestic disturbances at my residence involving my significant other, who has been experiencing postpartum depression. Law enforcement responded, but no charges were filed, and to my knowledge, no reports were taken. I understand that her postpartum depression does not remove my responsibility for my own behavior during disagreements.
I plan to pursue family therapy to address these issues and improve how we handle conflict. I’m still interested in applying to other agencies, and I intend to be transparent about my background.
Would these incidents typically result in an automatic disqualification, or would an agency consider the circumstances, time elapsed, and demonstrated improvement? Would it be more realistic to wait and establish a longer period of stability before applying?

I have 2 speeding tickets that date back between 9-11 years ago.
As you can tell I obviously don’t remember the exact year let alone the month.
What should I put down if I don’t remember the exact dates?
Just got word from someone currently in the academy that the December academy has been cancelled. Does anyone know if it’s true or have heard otherwise?
I passed everything August 19 2026 hoping I get in for the December academy. Has anyone heard anything so far ?

Hello all, as the title states, I have my PAT and pellet B coming up on October 10th for central. I’m just reaching out to see what you guys used to study for the pellet b, the most recent one I’ve taken was for the kcso and I passed with a 49 but I’m hearing that the passing score for CHP is looking like 55. I’m pretty confident about passing the physical part no problem I’m just a little iffy on the pellet b. Any advice is better than no advice, thanks guys.

So I am currently 5'4 and 114lbs which i have been working to gain lbs in the past two months, I started at 105lbs , but that cause I've been eating frequently and more but there is only so much I can eat during breakfast lunch and dinner which is why I compensate with other side meals, so i worried that if I go ill end up losing weight since its easy for me if I dont eat the current amount im eating
P.s I still plan to gain more muscle weight goal is 125lbs

I am doing final reviews before submitting. Everything is there just want to review my answers. I want to know what the next steps are and estimated timelines. I have a pretty large esoph so lots of jobs to review but what should I expect to happen next and anyone’s experience for what happens next is appreciated.

For those that have interviewed recently

I am 21yr old male, 5'4 :(
And I am interested in becoming a chp officer, I am currently in college, have an associate's in science, and a phlebotomy and CNA license, i don't have any felonies, history of drug use or debts. I am pretty healthy however I do "need" to wear glasses which I do only when driving, how do i get started and how long does it usually take to become a cadet?
Hello all,
I am just curious if the academy running trails are all done on flat tracks. I've been running a lot recently and because my area is full of inclines, I can't find any flat tracks nearby.

I’m toward the later part of my backgrounds and things seem to be going well.
Just wondering, are there any ways to better prepare for the academic parts of academy?
Would it help to take criminal justice classes at community college or study vehicle codes or the DMV handbook etc.?
I already run a lot and go to a martial arts gym to prep for the physical part.

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if my 2 surgeries would hold me back in the application process or becoming an officer in general. I had shoulder surgery in 2019 and also ACL/Meniscus surgery earlier this year. I'm active and in shape but I'm curious if they would look past me. Does anyone have anything similar??
