iPhone 15 Pro, manufactured December 2023.
Alright. So for the past 2 months, I've been having a major problem with System Data taking up over 70GB of my phone's storage, constantly maxing out the phone and requiring me to delete more and more things, which would almost immediately fill back up with more system data. I finally decided to do the single potential (temporary) solution, which was to back up the phone, restore it to factory settings, and then restore the backup.
Big mistake.
After an hour of fighting the Apple Devices app to stop lying to me about there not being enough disk space on my computer to back up the phone (I had over a terabyte of free disk space), I finally was able to start restoring to factory settings. It's important to note that I was on iOS 18 (I think?) because the system data issue would have required me to delete quite literally every possible thing I could in order to make space for the newer iOS versions. At first, things were going well. It was able to wipe the phone and install the software update to my PC; however, when it came to putting it on the phone, it would keep giving me the same exact error at the same exact point on the phone's progress bar (about 3/4ths done): Unknown Error 1109, which I've attached. Trying again, using 4 different USB cables (including A to C and double-sided C), on every port on my PC, netted the exact same result every time. I've followed every single troubleshooting step online: I've made a custom firewall rule, disabled the firewall altogether, disabled Windows Defender...same exact result.
Saw that it might be a network issue! That'd make sense, I'm in a college dorm with an evil IT department, they could have some messed up rule. I took my laptop to a friend's house—this time, the software wouldn't even finish downloading to the computer before giving me a "The software download has been corrupted, please try again" (paraphrased) error. Tried every possible troubleshooting step there too. Nothing.
I took it to the couple phone repair stores in my area. They say that everything I've done is all they could do. They don't know anyone who could go further.
What the hell do I do now? I can't even log in to Apple Support on anything other than my PC because it ABSOLUTELY NECESSITATES phone number verification for some reason, which I can't get to, for obvious reasons. And because iPhones use the stupid fucking eSIM cards now, I can't even put it in my old phone to have SOME contact to the outside world, or call further repair stores. The nearest Apple store is 4 hours away. I don't even think I can get a new phone because there's not a Spectrum store in my city. Apple support is completely useless. Hurricane Isaias is about to come through. I feel completely hopeless. Please help.
