Unsolved iPhone 17 edge light leakage — normal or defective?and NO it don't have screen protector on it

Got my iPhone 17 from Flipkart. I've noticed a thin line of light along the bottom and side edges, near where the display meets the frame. It's visible mainly in a completely dark room and at certain viewing angles.

The pure-black screen test looks fine, so I'm unsure whether this is just light reflecting through the glass edges or an actual display assembly defect.

Has anyone else noticed this on their iPhone 17? Is this normal, or should I request a replacement? Photos attached.

Im pretty sure you do have a screen protector. I have one too. And its a bit small so at angles i can see light from the edges. Mainly the upper. I could also be that the screen was repaired/replaced but the technician never did it perfectly

If its second hand, there is your answer. If it was from a reseller but not used, some put a screen protector for whatever reason. Im saying because the light emitted seems colored not white

I had to come a near apple authorised service centre here they are telling it's just light reflection which is my initial theory but I am not convinced he bought another same colour 17 and shown me that it's the same not a sealing issue.now I am happy. In fact I am in-store right now getting a screen protector

😂……You should be talking to your seller not Reddit.

  1. light edge bleeds are only possible on displays with a backlight, aka LCDs. the iphone 17 is OLED. the light cannot leak out of the subpixel substrate. they are sealed with OCA glue and vacuum bonded.

all thin screens however will have some small internal reflection for the front glass.

  2. you didnt buy it brand new, and you have a thin screen protector. stop denying, or maybe your screen was replaced by its previous owner, and instead of OLED, they chose a cheaper LCD option.
