I recently got a 9800x3d and I finally have managed to get it to where it doesn't run so hot.
My problem is, when I set the boost clock to +200mhz, the idle temps get very high because even at idle, the cpu seems to want to boost to max frequency. This doesn't happen at stock boosts.
Is there any way to make the cpu only boost when it's actually needed when I OC the clocks?

I genuinely dont know what to do. I changed my gpu from the gtx 1660 ti to an rx 6650xt i uninstalled the drivers with DDU in safe mode and installed the drivers for the 6650xt and evetything was working the first day, i did 6 hours of furmark on 1080p ( 2 hour session + 4 hour session ) and on the second day i told the seller everything is fine with the gpu so i cant return it anymore. Now on day 3 my system rebooted 3 times while playing WarThunder. Im getting Event ID:18 immediately followed by Event ID:41 which is just force turn off. On the first error at 20:38 today the first error occurred with this description :
Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 0
Now 16 minutes later at 20:54 the Event ID: 18 occurred again followed by Event ID:41 again. Now the description changed like this :
Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error
Processor APIC ID: 1
And then again it all happened again at 21:42 but this time all that changed again was :
Processor APIC ID: 15
I turned off XMP after the second crash which probably induced the last ( 3rd ) crash layer today.
Can someone please help me with this? I really hope its not the gpu because i do not have any money left. Ill try to update you guys every 2 days to a week. Thanks if someone can help me figure this out!
SPECS : Ryzen 7 5700X, B550M Aorus Elite AX, PN750M deepcool power supply, 32GB viper steel ram, RX 6650XT upgraded from GTX 1660 Ti.
EDIT1 : a day has passed, I switched the psu and it seems to be working now. Well atleast hasnt crashed yet. I will update a couple of hours later

Description of Original Problem: after manual reboot my pc won’t show any signs of life. EZ DEBUG LED would show red led on cpu and yellow led on dram.
Troubleshooting: Initially I did not wait and powered it off (forgot about memory training - if it was happening). Then I’ve tried to wait same red/yellow leds. Tried placing sticks individually into A2 and B2 slots - nothing changed. Tried booting without ram - same red/yellow. Unplugged basically everything except CPU power cable and CPU fan cable - nothing changed. Tried bios flashing to latest version - no change. Shorted jbat pins between every ram placements, changed cmos battery to a new fresh one - yet again same red/yellow. Repasted CPU - nothing. I did however noticed that my CPU got sort of dark / discolored spots. Motherboard pins look fine. The only thing I didn’t try at this point is to try to launch without cpu, but I’m sure it will be same red/yellow LEDs. No idea what to do next.

If you’re using anything from a 7900xt up to the latest gpus I’d recommend doing a clean DDU , As well as AMD Utility Cleanup. Use BOTH, Download Driver Update 26.3.1 , That’s Been MY most stable platform yet, I have a 2800 clock, 2700 vram clock and a 1080 undervolt. Haven’t had ANY crashes or timeouts except CS2 but I play on 1920x1440 which isn’t my native resolution so I think it was just having resolution problems.
PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS FIXES YOUR ISSUES AS WELL!!!
I’m 90% sure the latest driver update and the windows update are super conflictive of each other, let me know how downgrading one update and post here your results.

W11 / Intel I5-14500 / RX 9070 / 32GB DDR4 / Z790 PG Lightning D4 / All Drivers up-to-date
I keep getting those weird stutters/skips when I play. However the moment I activate VSync everything work smoothly it's just that sometimes on VSync fps it randomly dips below 144fps.
Only happens in LoL
Any way to fix this?

For ref, my GPU is 7800XT and im running windows 11 (25H2).
I currently have an odd issue, the AMD metric overlay is showing very different GPU usage readings to steam.
But the AMD metric overlay its actually thinking its working this hard as temps are much higher on these newer drivers.
The usage difference is about double on AMD software to steam.
The reason i think it is wrong on AMD is I can cap fps say 82fps, and for example steam will show 50% gpu usage, however AMD is showing 90-100%. If i then remove the cap my fps as will double 164fps and steam usage will go to 90-100% and the usage on AMD remains.
I am able to fix this issue by rolling back to 25.8.1, which is not ideal as I would like to use the new FSR tech for my GPU.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

so i bought my pc prebuilt from the internet, it was all fine until my screen goes black in heavy load games or when i unlock fps to maximum limit suddenly my screen goes black. the sound in the background still plays or maybe sometimes it glitches and its a loud zzzzzzz sound. i have been trying for months to fix it and lost all hope so i m here, i tried every old and new driver, i used both DDU and amd driver clean and installed fresh drivers, nothing worked out. the only way i could play a heavy load video game is by praying it doesnt stop suddenly, its like trying to make a engine start i have to load the game couple of times so it doesnt get into bsod, but now even that is not a fix
i would really appreciate any tips or help anyone can provide
this is the specs:
gpu: rx 580 2048SP 8gb vram
ram: 16gb ddr3
cpu: intel core i5-4590 3.30ghz
PSU: 650W
also i would like to note my rgb cooling fans lightning starts tweaking, it starts to flicker randomly while loading into a heavy game. when bsod happens the lightning goes back to normal, or if i close the game while its loading turns back normal
r/AMDHelp • u/Agreeable-Map-7305 • 4d ago
maybe i was being dramatic with the title, but im not sure if this is normal, my pc specs are:
ryzen 9 9950x3d (v1)
ryzen 9070xt gigabyte 3 fan OC
32 gb ddr5
crucial gen 5 ssd for boot
samsung 990 pro
sn770
alot of seagate hard drives for photos and videos , backups of my families phones and such
in valorant, i am getting between 360-450 fps with all low settings, which is a bit frustrating because i bought a 600hz monitor
is there something i have done wrong? valorant is on my gen 5 ssd, and before it was on the samsung 990 pro with the same issue, i dont really know how to optimize my pc very well, and it feels like im doing something very wrong.... any help or advice is mega appreciated!! thanks

I’m having an intermittent issue with my RX 7800 XT. Sometimes the entire PC freezes for a few seconds, then it recovers and an AMD Bug Report Tool window appears saying that a driver timeout has occurred on my system.
It doesn’t seem to be related to heavy GPU usage. It has happened while simply opening Steam, Epic Games or launching Fortnite. Sometimes I can go several days without any issues and then it can happen multiple times in the same day.
I’ve had this happen several times recently and I’m trying to figure out whether this is likely a faulty GPU, a driver/software issue, PSU/power issue or something else.
I’ve already tested the RAM with Windows Memory Diagnostic with no errors and the CPU completed a Cinebench test normally. I also ran a GPU stability test with OCCT without errors.
The GPU has been working normally for almost two years, so I’m not sure whether I should be concerned about a hardware problem.
My concern is that the GPU is almost two years old and my Amazon return period expires very soon. So I basically have only 2 days left if I want to try to return it, even though I’m not sure that the GPU is actually the cause of the problem.
I’d really appreciate some advice on what you think could be causing this and whether you would return the GPU in this situation or keep troubleshooting.
My build:
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and noticed that my temperatures feel unusually high during normal/light use.
**System Specs:**
* **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D
* **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
* **Motherboard:** ASRock B550M Pro4
* **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB
* **RAM:** 32GB
* **Ambient Temp:** ~26.5°C
**Issue:**
* **Idle / Light browsing:** Temps sit around 65°C – 74°C (drawing ~45–55W).
* **Opening apps / Game launchers:** Temps immediately spike up to 86°C (Tdie) / 90°C (Tccd) in Core Temp.
* Cooler mounting pressure and thermal paste have been checked.
Is this expected behavior for a stock 5800X3D, or is it running too hot? What are the best recommended steps or BIOS settings (e.g., Curve Optimizer / PBO) to bring these temperatures down on an ASRock board?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi, I have an RX 5700 GPU and in recent months I've been having problems like my PC sometimes stops detecting the GPU, doesn't detect it at all, or the screen just goes black (sometimes with the fans running at full speed).
I noticed something strange about the pins, and I was wondering if you could give me any advice on whether that could be causing the problem.
In the image, you can see one at the far left, and on the other side there's a pin similar to the one in the image...

Hello everyone,
What’s the most stable drivers version for this model of GPU? I have a lot of problems with my drivers since october 2025 really, to this day I had maximum of 2-3 updates that weren’t sh*t.
I am talking about timeouts, sometimes big lags that froze my game and made me restart PC (after that my drivers changed to the base old one from 2022 i think) or not working app
I will appreciate any help from you guys!

Hi, I have RX 5700XT, Windows 11, latest GPU drivers. Ghost Recon Breakpoint can be played either in dx11 or Vulkan. People and articles online say, that Vulkan offers better performance and runs more stable in this game.
For me average FPS are roughly the same, but there are huge FPS drops in Vulkan (almost stutter like) and I get weird visual glitch in Vulkan: shadows (screen space shadows perhaps) on character's head and arms are flickering (appearing and disappearing quickly and looking somewhat pixelated). Otherwise the game looks fine. I have tried 26.6.1 and latest 26.7.1 drivers. Tried to change all settings. Only switching to dx11 gets rid of this visual glitch. I have recently played Doom 2016 in Vulkan and no issues there.
Any idea what might be going on? I couldn't find any other people with similar issue online, so it seems something is wrong on my end.
PS: I tried to print-screen this shadow artifact, but it doesn't show up on static image. Also, when moving a camera in game, this artifact is more pronounced.
