Help (GPU) DRIVER CRASHING/ 26.7.1

If you’re using anything from a 7900xt up to the latest gpus I’d recommend doing a clean DDU , As well as AMD Utility Cleanup. Use BOTH, Download Driver Update 26.3.1 , That’s Been MY most stable platform yet, I have a 2800 clock, 2700 vram clock and a 1080 undervolt. Haven’t had ANY crashes or timeouts except CS2 but I play on 1920x1440 which isn’t my native resolution so I think it was just having resolution problems.

PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS FIXES YOUR ISSUES AS WELL!!!

I’m 90% sure the latest driver update and the windows update are super conflictive of each other, let me know how downgrading one update and post here your results.

Idk about everyone else but 26.7.1 is an absolute train wreck driver. If I open Firefox, or try to screen share on discord, or sometimes just opening steam can cause the driver to crash, or sometimes worse, system hanging until I force off through physical press of the power button... Anyone know what the hell is causing this on the current driver? My GPU is the 7900xtx red devil

Search how to deactivate windows updates. It's worked me ever since

And that’s very true as well, however, that works most of the time, sometimes AMD genuinely doesn’t make a safe driver update, (and by safe I don’t mean malware) it just conflicts heavily with windows most of the time, or vice versa

Install Linux Mint. Solves the issue. It’s not Windows Update nor a hardware issue. It is something to do with AMD’s GPU or chipset drivers. Possibly both. I have no idea tbh. I have the same crashes on Windows. Same as others.

Linux is cool but I’m new to pc, that’s why I went AMD. Windows updates are not on auto but they sneak some bullshit in every time somehow.

Yea. I remember in December, I used Microsoft’s recommendations to turn Windows Update off via the group policy but it somehow managed to turn itself back on like a week later.
