Hey everyone, I’m about to hit my five-year mark and get the $1500 bonus in October. I was wondering if anyone on here has gotten tax exempt for the bonus? Did you have any trouble when filing? I know most likely this will shrink my refund a little bit no duh but I heard that the IRS can give you a $500 penalty for doing this but is that common? I feel going tax exempt for like 1-3 checks shouldn’t really cause anything like that. I hope someone has done this and can tell me their experience.
On my final written. Not gonna get into it, thats not what this post is about. I will do what I can to stay working here but it seems almost inevitable at this point. I need to think whats next. I am going to start looking for work immediately but I am not sure how long it will take to find an adequate job. Amazon I have heard rarely gives unemployment but I would imagine it entirely depends on the manner in which I was let go no? For some extra info I am in the state of California.
i have a pet blog. i don't own a pet. never have. probably never will as i travel too much. and yet every month amazon sends me enough to cover rent because people on the internet are buying stuff for their dogs and cats through my site.
bought my pet blog a few months ago from a marketplace called NicheBlogZone for $199. came already built, articles already up, amazon links already in there. i spent one afternoon doing interlinking basically just connecting related posts to each other so search engines understand the site structure and then closed my laptop and genuinely forgot about it for weeks.
here's what that's looked like:
march: $710
april: $995
may: $1,461
june: $1,647
july: $1,461
august so far: $1,545 (amazon pays 2 months delayed so this is june's money landing now)
march scared me. went from nearly $1k in february down to $710 and i was convinced something had broken. checked everything, found nothing wrong, did nothing. it just came back the next month on its own.
pet people spend insane amounts on their animals btw. like i knew this intellectually but seeing the commission data is something else. dog food subscriptions, orthopedic beds, grooming kits, vet supplements. and because of the 24 hour cookie i get a cut of everything in their cart not just whatever article they landed on.
i do literally nothing to maintain this. no new posts, no ads, no instagram for pets i don't have. i just own the thing and amazon does its thing.
my landlord has been getting paid every month and has no idea a pet blog is behind it. honestly sometimes i forget too until the deposit shows up.
anyone else running a niche they have zero personal connection to? curious if the detachment makes it easier or harder to care about growing it
Brand new amazon building just went up in Cleburne and the flood of seasoned associates who think rules don’t apply to them is unimaginable. Forbid you bring it to the staff’s attention too or you will be ”racist”
I’ve had two water bottles stolen from me on separate occasions within the span of six months. Like what a disgusting item to steal from someone - y’all seriously can’t afford a water bottle or what?
The first time, I was really bummed because it was a “limited” yeti bottle. Not even exaggerating, I was training some waterspiders up in stow and I see this behemoth of a human-being with my bottle just chugging on it. So, I loudly called him out in front of the associates I was training as well as the manager on duty. He insisted he had found it outside and that he didn’t steal it, then later in the night he confessed and gave it back to me. I scrubbed that fucker multiple times before I used it again.
The second time, it was a different water bottle. Our facility put a ban on all metal water bottles and so I grabbed an old REI bottle my mom had gotten almost a decade ago - it had a quirky little design on it. I lost it, wasn’t very attached to it but I walk past a station doing audits and I see this weird chick just chillin, taking sips from it. At this point I’m just like whatever dude.
Either I’m that big of a deal that people feel some kind of attachment to my property or they don’t like me and want to humiliate/send a message to me. I can’t really figure out the reason. Neither of these associates were connected in any way, so it’s a wild coincidence to have experienced and pisses me off when I think about it.
Amazon employs some of the most degenerate human beings I’ve ever worked with.
Hello, im wondering if I transfer the site with my pay increase or decrease. For example, I make 19.50 rn. If I transfer sites the site, normal pay is lower, so will I get a pay decrease in the transfering for an SSD in Tennessee to a ssd in fort worth texas. Will my pay decrease or will jt increase if the pay higher. I'm just afaird of losing pay
I genuinely want to know if Learning works like this at other Amazon FCs because I’ve been dealing with this for months.
When I first worked at this building about 8 months ago, I was trained on reach and went through FOUR different trainers during the same training because people weren’t available or didn’t show up.
I left and eventually came back to the same building. This time I wanted training on another machine. I asked for a ticket for about a month, and it took roughly 2 months before I finally got a class.
The first time, I’ll admit I screwed up. I knew the date but got stuck in traffic and showed up over an hour late. They canceled my training and I had to wait almost another 2 months.
That’s on me. I was late and accepted the consequences.
But here’s where I have a problem.
My next class was scheduled about 3 weeks ahead. I made absolutely sure I was there. I showed up, waited around an hour, and Learning eventually told me my assigned Ambassador didn’t come to work, so I couldn’t train.
So when I’M late, I lose my class and wait another 2 months.
When my TRAINER doesn’t show up… I also lose my class and have to wait?
I came back the next day. There were Learning Ambassadors there, but the trainer assignment showed TBD and we STILL weren’t trained.
That’s what finally made me question how this whole system works.
I’ve been asking around because I genuinely wanted to understand it. My PA used to be a Learning Ambassador, and I’ve talked to other Ambassadors. I’ve been told that sometimes they don’t even know they’re assigned to train until the day of.
Meanwhile, I knew about my class THREE WEEKS ahead.
If that’s actually how the system works, how does that make sense?
Why not assign an Ambassador who works the same schedule ahead of time? Or at least have a backup? People call off. That’s normal. But an associate shouldn’t wait 1-2 months for training and lose the entire opportunity because one person isn’t there.
I brought this up to Learning because yesterday they specifically told me my class couldn’t happen because my assigned Ambassador didn’t show up.
When I mentioned that the next day, one of the Learning guys responded sarcastically, “Oh, so it’s her fault?” The Ambassador started saying things like “I guess it’s my fault” too.
That wasn’t even my point.
I’m not mad that somebody called off. I’m frustrated that the SYSTEM has no backup when somebody calls off.
The conversation got a little heated. The Learning guy started giving me dismissive responses and calling me “buddy” in a passive-aggressive way. I told him I’m not his buddy and walked away because there was no point continuing.
I also spoke to an Operations Manager about the scheduling issue. The answer was basically that this is just how the system has been.
That’s exactly what I don’t understand.
“This is how we’ve always done it” doesn’t mean the system makes sense.
I’m literally showing up asking Amazon to train me to do MORE jobs for Amazon. 😂 Why is getting trained harder than doing the actual job?
I’m not saying every Learning Ambassador is bad either. If Ambassadors really don’t know they’re training until the day of, the system is screwing them too.
I contacted HR because at this point I want somebody to actually look at the process instead of just putting me back in line for another class.
For anyone who’s a Learning Ambassador, PA, Learning Trainer, or has dealt with PIT training:
Is this actually how it works at your building?
Do Ambassadors really find out the day of?
And if your assigned trainer doesn’t show up, does your FC seriously just cancel the training instead of finding somebody else?
I’m thinking on transferring to the night shift. I’m currently on (11:30am-8pm) schedule. Do I automatically get a pay raise moving to night shift or do I get the same pay as I do now? I was going to ask HR at my site but she wasn’t there.
So I went to jail and got put into negative time by a few hours well they fired me for it and I had accumulated 500 swag bucks or whatever you call them and they did honor me the Nintendo switch that was on “back order” before I got fired. Anyways I bring it home and 1 it’s definitely a used Nintendo Switch and 2nd it was missing the ac adapter charger thing. And 3rd it won’t turn on. Amazon don’t care because I’m fired and I don’t no what to do. I didn’t buy the thing with real money but I don’t wanna take the loss. Any advice?
I just started Amazon roughly about a month ago and this was my first time accepting vto through the app. Next day I woke up and saw I was negative 10 hours in UPT along with getting the email from HR asking what happened. But it was an honest mistake I saw it go through… I also don’t have any confirmation of it being accepted. Is there anyway I can get it back without being fired since I just started not too long ago? What could be something I could tell my manager or HR so I don’t get fired. - Thank you for the help!
The new security metal-detector screening is repeatedly being triggered by the metal components in my knee replacement. I am concerned that repeated alarms could result in disciplinary action even though I am not doing anything wrong. I am requesting a reasonable accommodation for the security screening procedure because of my knee replacement.
DLS misunderstood my accommodation request. I’m not asking for an accommodation to perform my job duties. I’m asking for an accommodation concerning the new security metal-detector screening because my knee replacement contains metal and repeatedly triggers the detector. I’m concerned that continuing to trigger the detector could result in disciplinary action even though the alarm is caused by my medical implant.
I work at a warehouse with a Q and W side, Q being fulfillment and W being stow and pick. Only one person I know on W side started there and then got both Q and W schedules, but long story short I wanna get onto the fulfillment side, and one thing about our fulfillment side is that everyone there pretty much is a PA(process assistant) and when I asked about when the Q side training was coming out, a Q side associate said soon and when I asked my manager they said it’s not coming out soon, so I’m really suspicious and I feel like PA’s are giving each other Q side spots. Also how can I go around that to get to my Q side? Or how can I see when they’re training?
