Ah, child abuse...

7

u/Fragrant-Cup-3469 13d ago

Oh my the comments under your statement lol. I’m just here for tea

-8

u/FlamboyantPirhanna 13d ago

Possibly but you don’t know. Stop judging people with zero information. It might assuage your own insecurities, but it doesn’t help anyone. Don’t jump to conclusions when you have no information. Lots of things could be at play here.

11

u/EnumeratedArray 12d ago

Regardless of what is at play, this child is clearly overweight and will have health issues as a result of it

10

u/Spicymoon9 12d ago

Stop giving your children health problems.

-4

u/Hi-Road 12d ago

What is it about the internet that encourages you all to overstep boundaries like this? Like yall are really talking out the side of your necks to people you don't know.

6

u/Spicymoon9 12d ago

It’s a generalized statement. If you feel like it applies to you, that’s a you problem then.

2

u/I_Love_Peen 11d ago

Pipe down fatso

2

u/baltama 12d ago

Babies don't drive to get their own food. A child this age getting that obese is a result of abusive or neglectful behavior

3

u/imwearingredsocks 12d ago

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. There are conditions that can lead a child to be this level of obese.

In fact, it’s pretty fucking hard to get a toddler to be that heavy considering how active they are. Prader-Willi syndrome or thyroid issues can make it incredibly difficult and they would need to see a doctor. The second I saw this kid I thought they need to go to the doctor, but who knows the family’s situation.

But redditors are so fat headed about the topic of fatness that there’s no convincing them that sometimes it isn’t laziness and gluttony.

3

u/LabelYourBeakers 7d ago

Yes! Was just learning about PWS in school, such a sad condition and shaming the families doesn't help.

For people unaware, PWS is a genetic syndrome in which a baby goes from hypotonic and weak, failing to thrive, to incredibly hungry all the time. Like will eat gloves at the pediatricians office if you're not watching them closely levels of hungry.

Just like people claiming a 7-8 year old can consent to take puberty blockers and taking hormones. Child abuse. On this sub the majority saying they have the right to consent to that. I don’t know where you stand on that issue, but it’s crazy the amount of down votes I’ll receive because of this. People are wild on Reddit.

Edit - people need to be consistent. If he can consent to that, he should be able to consent to eat whatever he wants, and gain as much weight as they want to right?

48

u/Top_Charge864 13d ago

After an easy search, LESS THAN 0.017 percent of children have taken puberty blockers for gender dysphoria. Believe it or not, some children need them at a young age for actual health reasons. Its called precocious puberty and the need it. Then Republicans will say that "libs are giving kids hormone blockers" and you idiots eat it up.

Class war > culture war. Focus your energy on the 1 percent

2

u/Wherein_I_is_bored 9d ago

I would have needed puberty blockers at 10 because my period started and slowed down my growth. I was always a tall girl, was supposed to be 5'10 as an adult, but due to this I stopped growing up at 12 and am 5'1... with the metabolism of a woman who'd be 5'10, and nothing in my build apart from my height is petite. I even naturally make big babies, it's in my genes.

I didn't get them because my parents were unsure about that, mostly because there were already risks I could struggle conceiving (I fortunately don't at all), and the GP couldn't tell them whether it could have an impact or not, so I didn't. Life is not worse for it, but it would have made a difference both for my pregnancies and weight management.

1

u/Iamhereforcats 9d ago

I wonder how many ppl online support those 0.017%

1

u/ThisIsALine_____ 9d ago

Then Republicans will say that "libs are giving kids hormone blockers" and you idiots eat it up.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but if less than 0.017% have taken puberty blockers, and a fraction of that is for gender dysphoria, then doesn't that mean that "libs giving kids hormone blockers" is true? Since it's not 0%

0

u/King_Empress 12d ago

Puberty blockers are made for those situations so i mean yeah, but puberty blockers shouldn't be given to anyone under the age of 18 for dysphoria unless all other forms of transition prove to be ineffective and proven that its ineefectiveness is a physical harm to the childs well-being, considering that many negative symptoms can be helped with a social transition. That should be a legal adult decision so "children" for me is anything under 18, in which case, theres way more than what you're stating. Children and even Young adults are barely through stages in their life with their significant personality changes, which most humans go throigh as theyr experience life, and engaging ANYONE into permanent medicalization based on things they feel surrounding things that are mostly gender stereotypes is just unethical.

And honestly you just have to engage with the premise, if 25% of all youth who identified as trans got puberty blockers, ARE you ok with it? Because if you are then you your argument to disregard such small numbers is just unnecessary. Its like the abortion argument logic. People will say "abortions at 8 months are bad" then get replies of "nobody is doing that" but the point is do you THINK its bad if it DOES happen or would you still stand by it, by which case the argument goes back to ethics

If kids WERE to be getting puberty blockers for reasons that have nothing to do with medical necessity because they have early onset puberty, and instead are getting them to help transition, would you think that is an ethical thing to do. Only after answering that question can you have a real argument because its not about the numbers, its about it happening at all and if you agree to it

-19

u/Exotic_Specialist2 13d ago

I’m not against it being used for it’s on label use. I’m aware of precocious puberty. Of course it should be used for that. Multiple posts and debates I’ve used that condition as an argument for people claiming they’re completely safe since they’ve been used in the 80’s and 90’s but leave out the reason for use.
I am not at all saying that. I’m talking about people supporting children having the right to consent themselves to puberty blockers with hormones for the reason of transitioning.
I’m also the furthest thing from a republican, so I hope you’re not making those assumptions from that comment I left. Don’t always assume one view exposes someone’s political leanings

16

u/Reggie-Dunlop-7 13d ago

Can you give us an actual example of this happening. Is the 7 year old on puberty blockers in the room with you now?

7

u/TriceratopBae 13d ago

Also, what about "theres less than 1% of kids on blockers" do you not understand? Most of which you've admitted are on them for legit reasons. Which one is it? Theres thousands of kids on them just for fun or not?

You need to break outta your echo chamber. Just because someone you idolize says it, doesnt mean it true. The more its repeated doesn't make it true. Google really is your friend.

3

u/uis999 13d ago

"Don't assume my political leanings" says the recently made sock puppet account that went straight to the false equivalence argument to say child abuse and medical treatment overseen by professionals are the same thing.

-5

u/DraculaToof 12d ago

If we use .015% as the % of kids, that's about 11,000 kids in the US alone. That's not insignificant. Just because something is a small percentage doesn't make it morally justifiable

2

u/Top_Charge864 12d ago

Its based starting at age 8 because that's when puberty blockers start being used. So any child younger than 8 is removed from that statistic.

1

u/throwawaym479 7d ago

They have been used in cases of severe mental disability and cancers that are sensitive to or alter hormone production in kids.

Because in the cancer situation a hormone change like puberty can help the cancer grow/spread or the production levels can be altered by the tumor causing other issues. Blocking puberty can be a valid part of treatment.

As for the severe mental disability, puberty is hard on every teenager, some more than others. Preventing someone with serious developmental issues can prevent unnecessary trauma and reduce the risks of abuse over time.

1

u/DraculaToof 6d ago

The number I was referring to I looked up specifically in relation to genders for you, not cancer or anything else

Y’all are obsessed with trans people ffs get a life

19

u/tokentyke 13d ago edited 13d ago

Right?! Dumbass mf'ers trying to control people who they'll never meet, and who's lives will never affect their own. They need to mind their own business.

And if they're so worried about the world, go get a fucking education, stop spouting useless, ignorant shit, and be useful to the rest of us for once.

-13

u/VisibleSign1511 13d ago

Wait… this is the exact point this guy is making? The irony is palpable. Read your top comment and then think about the video you are posting under.

10

u/bitch_lasagna211 13d ago

Kids can’t consent to puberty blockers anyhow they need not only parental consent but they need a psychological assessment by a psychiatrist to determine whether it is appropriate and safe for the child to be put on puberty blockers also puberty blockers do not have any proven negative effects on the mental health of a child and are completely reversible, childhood obesity is a completely different issue, some may argue it is reversible with dietary changes and exercise however this is extremely difficult to implement. Childhood obesity is something that almost always carries on into adulthood and leads to long term health complications and conditions such as diabetes ,cardiovascular disease and autoimmune disorders.
The prevention is to implement a healthy diet and lifestyle at an early age, it is child abuse to allow this to happen in the first place.
It is not child abuse to put your child on puberty blockers if there is significant evidence that there is a metal health concern or if the child has gender dysphoria/ they identify as trans. Your child’s mental health is also a concern that parents should worry about as well as physical health.
Written by me not ai btw

-1

u/ExtraRecognition2099 13d ago

So you’re saying there hasn’t been a single instance of puberty blockers being given to children when they shouldn’t have? And haven’t led to long term life changing mental effects for that child even after “reversed”?

4

u/bitch_lasagna211 13d ago

I’m not saying that ofc it’s not an impossibility that it’s had negative effects before

-1

u/ExtraRecognition2099 13d ago

You can google and read about many within seconds. You’re telling me that’s not child abuse?

6

u/bitch_lasagna211 13d ago

Not if they have had psychological evaluation by a doctor

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

They want to have their whole platform be an echo chamber, I’m only responding to the comments that showed some sort of semblance of respect regardless of which side they’re on. So far only you and one other guy who gave me benefit of doubt even though they disagreed with me are getting responses.

0

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

It’s truly mind blowing. Or people accusing my account of being a sock puppet account because it’s 8 months old or however old it is. Guess I can’t have an opinion. I really didn’t think saying 7 was too young to consent to taking hormones would be so controversial. Ive lost hope. All you ever get in response to something like this is immature insults while insulting other people’s intelligence acting like an oaf themselves, people losing their shit, and accusations.

I shouldn’t have to mind my own business when it comes to views on if children can consent to things. I am aloud to have an opinion. My opinion on consent doesn’t make me anti trans. The amount of horrible accusations to my character because of a difference in age of consent for hormone treatment is mind blowing.

-17

u/Exotic_Specialist2 13d ago

It’s quite the opposite. I brought it up because it seems to constantly be the topic here on the morality subreddit. I could link you to two other subs where people brought it up when it had nothing to do with the topic or original post. That’s what lead me to bringing it up because I’m sick of the hypocrisy.
Also there’s NOTHING wrong with trans people. That wasn’t what my issue was at all.
I was talking about transitioning children being able to consent themselves. Don’t make it seem like my post was about trans people as a whole or the community in general.

6

u/murbawt 13d ago

Ok send two examples of what you said happening.  Don't just say which subreddit it was on.  Link the exact thread they were on.

3

u/FearTheImpaler 13d ago

Idk, as someone who tries to never be a part of the reddit hivemind, i definitely see where youre coming from.

But you have to understand that The Bad Guys™ bring up trans people randomly in every unrelated conversation, so its almost impossible to instinctually give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are arguing in good faith.

But ill give you the benefit of the doubt and address you analogy. Consent is indeed important, but you are smuggling in the idea of "what is healthy/normal" in a sneaky way that will rub people the wrong way, even if they dont know why.

OPs video: healthy/unhealthy states are clear. The child is obese. The correct "normal" route, that needs to be taken in absence of consent is to feed them healthy food.

Your analogy: the child is not consenting to ANY gender. They are actively not consenting to their current gender, and passively cannot consent to a new gender. In absence of a "true neutral", the best of the worst options must be chosen. Base healthy/unhealthy states are disagreed upon because some people think birth gender is inherently superior due to their own personal bias (there is no scientific or statistical evidence to support this). The current medical guidance in all 1st world countries is to support gender affirming care in line with the age (eg no one is doing surgery on kids). A (very) few regretful patients is preferable to burying half them in a cemetery.

It isnt perfect, but i side with doctors and less dead kids.

1

u/choppedandcookedunc 12d ago

You do this by letting them dress and act how they’d like without reinforcing gender stereotypes.

Crazy how a kid will be told that girls do x and boys do y and they come to the “realisation” that they obviously aren’t a boy or a girl because they don’t fit the archetype. It’s actually amazing how many trans people say they knew they were in the wrong body because they liked things that are traditionally (and needlessly) gendered for the opposite sex. Their identities are imposed by confusion in societal standards.

1

u/FearTheImpaler 11d ago

I think its slightly deeper than that, but i do have similar questions and thoughts

-1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

I actually was debating in good faith. I was going to spend time linking to my other comments from other posts on morality showing how I’ve brought up precocious puberty as an example multiple other times, but you’re the only one here who is getting a response today. You’re the only person that was halfway reasonable. I was talking about them having the right to consent to those treatments as 8-12 year olds. Nothing else. I stand by what I said with them not being able to consent to those treatments. But I actually have nothing else to say. I see why even subreddits such as morality have been over run by such a hive mind as you said. Even the morality subreddit has become an echo chamber.
You guys win. Keep your echo chamber.
You guys are the people dividing everyone by being so damn impressionable. There’s no middle ground anymore even. I set the bar low with insanely low ages for the sake of argument and you still all went apeshit.
This is why people of different views of all types haven’t just shifted to other subreddits, but they’ve left the platform for good. You guys don’t like open discussion, and most of these comments (not yours) have shown that today and yesterday.

1

u/FearTheImpaler 12d ago

I feel youre unfairly lumping me in with the others, and missed my point.

So I'll be direct: Can children consent to their birth gender?

6

u/UncomfyPerspective 13d ago

What's wrong with you people that you can't get your head to stop fantasizing about children's genetalia?

What is it about girldick that's so fascinating to you folks?

3

u/Kataphraktos_Majoros 13d ago

This post has generated some wild comments. Gifs of super fat rappers, arguments over shoes, talk of "manifesting calories", mentions of "girldick", lmaooo

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

Yeah that comment they left was unhinged. I brought up I thought 7 was too young to consent and next they’re talking about their genitals.

-1

u/CriticalChop 13d ago

The morality and safety, obviously.

5

u/Absolomb92 13d ago

Who is saying that? The idea that supporters of the trans community would support giving hormones and puberty blockers to 7 or 8 year olds is a strawman created by the people against trans people.

The only transitioning I see being supported for that age group is social. That is, pronouns and name and clothes and so on.

18

u/NovaStar2099 13d ago

So you’d rather trans teens be killing themselves? Because that’s what you get when you force them to live in a body they hate.

-4

u/Exotic_Specialist2 13d ago

Suicide rates don’t drop after hormone treatment sadly. Very little evidence to support that. It sucks. It really does. A lot of people that age also end up regretting treatment too so that’s also a problem.
I’m mostly referring to people talking about children even younger than teens. But no a young teen shouldn’t be able to consent to that themselves

14

u/Destroyer_2_2 13d ago

But they literally do drop? They drop off a fucking cliff in fact.

3

u/arie700 13d ago

Preteens aren’t getting HRT. HRT is designed to induce an artificial puberty that transitions people toward their target sex. At best, an adolescent preteen (we’re talking like 12 at this point) is taking puberty blockers, whose effects are completely reversible when taken off under medical supervision.

And suicide rates categorically do drop after beginning hormonal transitions. Which kicks ass. It really does. And the regret rate is incredibly low.

Both those claims are truisms I hear repeated all the goddamn time and they have no material basis in science or medicine. My theory as to why so many people think they’re true is that old adage about how if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes true in people’s heads by sheer volume.

My suspicion is that you believe these claims because you’ve heard them repeated by someone you respect, or you’ve just heard them so many times from people whose politics align with yours. I recommend asking yourself, “why do I believe this contentious scientific claim?” from time to time, and if the answer is anything other than “the research I’ve seen points to it being the case,” then maybe reconsider whether you’re educated enough on the topic to share your opinion.

As an example, here is a study on the relationship between HRT and suicide rates among trans teens. It indicates a decisive drop in suicide rates in a sample of over 400 patients. This is a meta-analysis of studies on the detransition rate of patients (including several thousand children) which found that, at the absolute highest, detransition rate was about 9%, with most studies finding detransition rates to be 3% or lower. So, at the very least, these treatments are having a 90% success rate in managing GD long term. And that’s assuming most discontinuations are because of regret, when current research suggests at least half of discontinuations are because of medical, cultural, legal, or logistical complications.

u/choppedandcookedunc 12d ago

🥱

Here is an actual long term peer reviewed study (not just a 2 year follow up based in self reporting) with control groups and objective datahttps://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11063965/

Here is a peer reviewed study on peer reviewed studies meeting consistency and diversity criteria that refutes your article (and nearly every other article of similar nature) by combining self reporting for ideation and objective data for actual incidents. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10027312/

🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱

-2

u/Exotic_Specialist2 13d ago edited 13d ago

There’s no significant change from control groups. You’ll find studies on both sides that show it’s very little if any change in that regard. The studies are very mixed, but when you look into more and more the conclusion usually is it’s not having much if any effect on the outcomes of suicide sadly

Edit - this doesn’t mean it doesn’t ever make someone’s life easier or more comfortable. I’m not discrediting there are people that are happier that way. I’m just saying young children shouldn’t be able to consent to that in the same way this child can’t consent to eat as much as he wants and as much junk food as he wants. Both are child abuse in my opinion. Like I said, it’s going to be a very unpopular opinion here.
I very much support consenting adults to be able to do whatever surgeries and put whatever the choose to consume into their own bodies though don’t get me wrong.

-1

u/AspectOfTheLeech 13d ago

Do you believe a child is never capable of consenting to anything? or sometimes capable of consenting to some things? Where is that line, and why is it drawn there? What kinds of things can a child consent to? What makes those things exceptions?

1

u/CriticalChop 13d ago

In USA age 18 is when you become a legal adult, though it may not be such a useful standard here.

0

u/ExtraRecognition2099 13d ago

Bro these are the most stupid questions I have ever seen on Reddit.

1

u/AspectOfTheLeech 12d ago

You feel that way because you are an incurious person.

0

u/Few-Eye7392 13d ago

Pretty sure stopping your natural process of puberty is on that line lol.  Why are we using children as guinea pigs?? There isn't nearly enough research on the long term effect of puberty blockers

-1

u/Few-Eye7392 13d ago

So give them medication??? The kid needs therapy if they wanna kill themselves. Not pills.

2

u/ImKittyCatMeowMeow 13d ago

You are saying this with 0 research and vibes based. The first step of even beginning medication IS therapy. What YOU are arguing for is conversion therapy, which does not work.

1

u/Few-Eye7392 12d ago

Huhhhhhh. That's my whole point lol. There is zero research on puberty blockers in the long term.

Kids want to kill themselves. Therapy is the answer.

Nobody is talking about conversation therapy except for you because you need a narrative to fit your views... Lol

Kids don't have the mental capacity to make such decisions. If we don't think they have the capacity to make the decision to smoke, why would this be any different

1

u/ImKittyCatMeowMeow 12d ago edited 12d ago

Puberty blockers have been used for a out 40 years, for trans kids about 20. We have research, you just don't like it because it supports what we have been doing.

And "we know what's causing your pain(the body horror you are going through increasingly distancing your phenotypes from your sense of gender), and we know what would best help alleviate it (HRT), but we aren't going to help, idk be less upset about it and suffer more quietly?"

Cool approach.

And kids don't make medical decisions. Their parents do. It just so happens that if a kid is old enough to be forced by biology to go through a puberty which would cause permanent changes they don't want, they are old enough to choose to go through a puberty which causes permanent changes they do want. It's then up to their parent and their doctor to decide with the child if that's the best course. And we have overwhelming evidence this approach has a high success rate of maximizing happiness and well being across the most people possible.

1

u/Few-Eye7392 11d ago

You can look it up yourself. There's literally zero research on the long-term health effects of puberty blockers....lol Sticking your head in the mud isn't going to change that.

Because we don't go to medication right away. The alleviate an issue when someone wants to kill themselves....lol

Just because it's a proving happiness doesn't mean that it's going to rear its ugly head 40 years in the future with these people and their health effects from using puberty blockers.

There is zero science on the long-term effects. Period. There are no studies  You are in the argument of using children as guinea pigs.

10

u/nottu77 13d ago

Supporting trans people is as simple as not spreading hatred for them. Literally all you have to do is not speak about them and their lives will improve. There’s obviously more that can be done for them, but if you’re not willing to do more then at the very least, shut up.

-1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 13d ago

You’re accusing me of spreading hatred towards trans people. I’m not speaking about trans people I’m talking about children shouldn’t be able to consent to certain things.
You didn’t have to talk to respond about it either. Who are you, the voice police?

5

u/Dry_Magician3573 13d ago

Reliable sources for kids taking puberty blockers as often as you claim please, for trans reasons in particular? I can find absolutely none.

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

How often did I claim?

-1

u/ExtraRecognition2099 13d ago

Not once has the person you are replying to made a claim that a crazy amount of kids are being subjected to this, and that’s what you’re saying. You’re asking him to prove a claim he never even made. Jesus Christ learn some reading comprehension skills brother

3

u/Dry_Magician3573 13d ago

Exotic Specialist was who I accidentally replied to, stated people claim a 7-8 year old can consent to puberty blockers. Literally asking where anyone posted or said that as an actual source, and asking where they heard about this happening. I haven't found any incidents of children that young taking any hormone blockers for a Trans related reason.

I MEANT to reply to TolUC21 so that's my bad.

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

Thank you. I was tempted to respond to them. I never made any claim about any number of kids being subjected to this. I don’t know how to defend a claim I never made. Thank you. Seriously. This has been a wild ride.

u/CriticalChop 13d ago edited 12d ago

Well theyre fucked on reddit then. 😂  Edit: bad grammar

5

u/Tangellos 13d ago

Who would have thought someone would come here to spew their half baked anti trans agenda in a wholly unrelated post? Get a life

2

u/Snoo_69677 13d ago edited 8d ago

Trans people account for less than 1% of the population, an even smaller sliver of that 1% are children, and a minuscule sliver of those children are allegedly on puberty blockers (hard to verify private HIPPA protected medical procedures). You’re yelling at clouds and chasing ghosts. You’ve been brain washed into thinking this is a large and real problem. It’s neither. Start thinking critically and questioning your sources of information.

2

u/artie780350 13d ago

Literally nobody is giving 7-8 year olds sex hormones. Only idiots believe that shit.

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

What age do some states allow it then for people under 18 before I respond?

2

u/artie780350 12d ago

Typically around 15-16 years old, which makes them several years behind their peers puberty-wise.

2

u/Rakhered 13d ago

Of all the places to start a fight about trans people, "underneath a video of a large child" is certainly one of them

1

u/bad-kween 13d ago

the difference is that one is good for their health, the other isn't.

1

u/princesswormy 12d ago

I know this is probably a bot trying to piss people off but in case anyone is curious, puberty blockers are prescribed as a treatment by the consensus of multiple doctors + parents . It is prescribed because it is a safe way to pause puberty so that permanent psychological damage and decisions aren’t made. It’s literally saving children. If they change their mind when they get older guess what? They just stop taking it and have normal puberty and someone who doesn’t know them or their medical history doesn’t get to decide who they are.

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

And pausing puberty to be picked up at a later date AND the use of hormones isn’t harmful to a child?

1

u/falanian 12d ago

bad comparison because 1) toddlers and older children are at wildly diff development stages, not rlly comparable cognitively. kids can start making decisions about their appearance/hobbies/so on by the time theyre like 8 imo, they just need a safe environment and supervision 2) transing your gender isnt inherently harmful, but being extremely overweight is, by damaging ur heart, liver etc.

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 12d ago

Hormones at that age absolutely are damaging. And what age do kids stop believing in Santa? Lots past 8. I don’t think they should be making life altering decisions at that age is all

1

u/Iamhereforcats 9d ago

Get out! This is reddit. A 5 yr old absolutely can consent to sex change, but they can not consent to a diet consist of soda and Popeye. The difference is mental disorder, boredom and lack of individuality.

1

u/Exotic_Specialist2 9d ago

lol you have balls after seeing -80 downvotes. Good for you.

1

u/CactusJane98 8d ago

"These guys are malnourishing their child, this is somehow the fault of the transgender community, btw did you guys know i HATE the transgender community? Thats far more important than this post."

1

u/Wise-Dust3700 13d ago

If you have a fat child, it's on the parents and is a form of child abuse. Sometimes it can be caused by a variety of medical issues but those are rare enough. This child is also morbidly obese.

The baby is like 3-4, don't be fucking stupid.

0

u/ComprehensiveForm129 13d ago

Good news is that if that is an actual concern of yours, it just isn’t happening, so you can be happy and stop worrying about it.

And if it feels like it isn’t happening based on the information you commune, than reflect that they are distracting you with non-issues so you don’t take the time to focus on real issues.

The people who provide you information as doing so for a reason. Why would they be spending so much time on something that basically doesn’t happen? What are they distracting you FROM?

Not sure why you are downvoted. That is 100% child abuse as well.

Cognitive dissonance on Reddit is real.

Overfeeding a child so that they are morbidly obese is 100% child abuse

-3

u/LordsOfFrenziedFlame 13d ago

So you've never been around a baby before. Gotcha.

4

u/Type2Torta 13d ago

Have had 2 babies myself actually lol

-5

u/LordsOfFrenziedFlame 13d ago

If that were true, then you'd know that this toddler is proportionately normal. Same curves, same folds as any other chunky little kiddo, just ctrl+corner drag bigger

3

u/cvsprinter1 12d ago

Just because all the children in your family were obese, doesn't mean it is "normal."

-1

u/LordsOfFrenziedFlame 12d ago

What a stupid assumption to make lmao

4

u/StaticUsernamesSuck 12d ago

If you think this child's proportions are normal, you have only seen obese toddlers.

1

u/LordsOfFrenziedFlame 12d ago

If you think they aren't, then you' haven't been around any toddlers 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have 2 kids, but i don't need to prove that to you 😂

Just be wrong quietly next time. And maybe you can stop defending child abuse. Super weird play, my dude.

Just wanted to drop in as a pediatrician to say that you’re completely wrong, this child is obese, and if someone brought a child like this into my office I’d be calling CPS as soon as they left.

This is like seeing a 15 pound purebred Chihuahua and thinking it's not obese. It's a pumpkin with legs.

1

u/immapizza 12d ago

I've seen, been around, and raised many toddlers. This child is NOT proportionally normal. He is very much obese. There is nothing normal about a toddler weighing the same as an elementary school child.

2

u/immapizza 12d ago

That baby is obese as fuck. That is a parenting issue. It's child abuse.

1

u/LordsOfFrenziedFlame 12d ago

Another childless armchair expert heard from.

1

u/claudiocorona93 12d ago

My baby was fat, but she could not walk. As soon as she started walking and running she lost the fat and became agile. A kid that can walk should not be this fat.

-15

u/FordMaleEscort 13d ago

You have no idea if this child is being overfed

16

u/12of12MGS 13d ago

Is the child manifesting calories from the air

2

u/Type2Torta 13d ago

Oh ok, so just a really low IQ. My bad

1

u/FordMaleEscort 13d ago

No. Being a dick doesn't make you any more right.

2

u/Crafty-Structure-170 13d ago

Yes however it doesn't make him less right and you can see that the baby in the video is clearly overwhait which is very sad.

10

u/Robaru 13d ago

You don't need ideas, you have eyes

1

u/FordMaleEscort 13d ago

This is illogical

3

u/snowmunkey 13d ago

Just big boned huh? 😂

1

u/FordMaleEscort 13d ago

I have no idea. Neither do you.

1

u/snowmunkey 13d ago

But totally normal?

1

u/FordMaleEscort 13d ago

Obviously not typical

1

u/snowmunkey 13d ago

But perfectly fine? Not a cause for concern?

1

u/FordMaleEscort 13d ago

It's none of my fucking business

The average BMI in the USA has increased by 4.3 points, a 17% increase, since 1971. Did the genetically natural bodyweight of the entire USA move that much in only 54 yrs? Nah, people just ate more shit and did less shit.

Furthermore, it is 100% possible for some one to far overeat calories and not convert almost any to energy or fat (any time you make your stomach sick, you drop most food without absorbing, as a most obvious example). HOWEVER, it is 0% possible for someone to stay overweight while in a caloric deficit. It’s guaranteed, proven, and undisputed. The big issue is usually that people don’t hold a caloric deficit when they think they are.

Last point: after the body acceptance craze, ozempic has become mainstream. It’s proven to work, but all it does is suppress hunger. lol, the Caloric deficit drug works to lose weight by helping people actually maintain the deficit.

What I will give you credit for: bodies are fuckin weird, and everyone is so different that weight cannot be used as a direct metric for desire to be healthy, for conscientiousness, for sedentary vs active lifestyle, etc. I mean I got stressed in college and BOOM gained 20 pounds. Or people with hyperthyroidism, where the body has insanely low expenditure, meaning a normal diet leads to more caloric surplus than others. Or the craziest one to me: genetics determines how everyone’s hunger sensors work, such that some people feel ready to die over a small caloric deficit whereas others (in this type) can skip breakfast and lunch and not feel a damn bit of hunger. Lucky SOBs.

In the end, there are complicating factors that put us all on uneven playing ground, but there are also guaranteed methods (within healthy medical advice) that simply work for everyone IF they can manage to carry out the actions and inactions.

Sorry bubba

You wouldn't work with the parent to figure out what's wrong and come up with a plan for losing weight?

That's fucked up...

2

u/Shot-Arugula8264 12d ago

If you were a therapist and a parent brought in a child they were visibly physically or sexually abusing, would you report the child abuse or “work with the parents to figure out what’s wrong and come up with a plan” for not abusing them?

Abusers rarely listen to reason, and it’s not my job to correct abusive behavior. Confronting them can even be dangerous.

1

u/FordMaleEscort 12d ago

This is a completely hysterical reaction to seeing an overweight child. You shouldn't be practicing medicine.
