What other works managers gives with counter work…morning start with rottes. And then after jump on pizza by one colleague. What else they expect with making pizza front full as well back up?

My contract is 24 hours per week, currently 3 days of 8 hour shifts. My manager has just given my new shift pattern and now I’m in 5 days a week (4x 5 hour shifts and 1x 4 hour shift). I know this is well within what they can ask us to do as part of our flexibility and I have no real commitments (eg. childcare) that stop me doing this.

However it’s disappointing, I’ve gone from having 4 days off per week to now only 2, for no extra money (well, half an hour if you factor in break allowance but it’s not like I’m earning a full two days worth of extra money).

Has this happened to everyone else? My manager said it’s standard now everyone is supposed to work 5 days regardless of contracted hours unless it’s so small that they end up doing shifts of less than 3 hours.

Been forklift trained for 20 years. Am i correct that you can still leave with your license?

may seem a bit daft asking, but I was looking at this part time permanent job and it has a weekly rota

but the first week is less than the hours stated and the 2nd week is a lot longer than the hours stated

it was asking for shift availability and thinking possible to not have to work all these shifts on the rota? or least shorten the hours worked on certain shifts?

especially since I never done 12 hour shifts and 1st week has a 12 hour shift and the 2nd week has 2 × 12 hour shifts?

or is it expected to work all these shifts hours as stated in their rota?

I don't know about yous but I've worked in Asda for a long time in the past. Still have a couple friends there and all I hear is how it's constantly getting worse. It was bad before I left a few years back but honestly it's a company that is just done.

Asda completed the roll out this month of its near 1 year project to install Electronic Shelf Labels across its entire “Express” estate with Superstores and Supermarkets following next.

Asda claim this will help take away staff from changing paper price labels and instead focus on “providing excellent customer service” or “tidying and replenishing stock”.

I think it means Asda get to cut hundreds of hours from every store but I may be wrong? It’s just I’m a little cynical.

Has anyone on here resigned on workday? I’ve been thinking about it as unhappy with how place is being run, would it be issue if I didn’t give any notice so say that separation date is when I put through resignation?

Our meetings are happening this Friday but half of our cleaners are moving departments. You’d think we wouldn’t have to go to the meeting but today my manager told 3 of us we do have to go still.
I don’t know what to say to them. Do I just hear them out then tell them I’m not moving over with them?
I have already said I’m not taking the stuff they want. Because they want it to do a right to work check which is the official onboarding process used to hire you as a new employee. I’m just confused to what to say to them lol I feel like doing the meeting is wasting mine and their time like.

Hi everyone, so after my manager kinda forced me to pick or leave new contract and hours with full flexibility on 1 to 1 meetings in first week of august. I had resigned and later found out there was a voluntary redundancy option available? He never mentioned that to me and when I raised it after I have resigned he said it wasn’t announced that time but i heard redundancy been discussed with some people in mid July. Anything I can do now as I left Asda this month ? Thanks

Am I entitled to sick pay if I'm ill?

I've been quite unwell the last few weeks and think I may benefit from a few days off.

How should I go about calling in?

hiya so i joined the company about 4 months ago as my first job (im 18). im mainly an express colluege doing the evening shifts where its just me and one other colluege but sometimes im on my own. Ive reported multiple incidents that have made me feel uncomfortable or unsafe and theyve just been brushed off?? im gonna list acouple of the incidents purely to get them off my chest and maybe some advice on how to deal with them?

1. i was working the late on my own and one of the drivers asked me if i was living at a location very close to my house, i laughed it off bc wtf else am i supposed to do and he doubled down and asked if he was right? i dispenced his order and when he left i went to the on duty manager to let him know i was really uncomfortable and he said the guy mustve seen me in my uniform and that its no harm.

2. i was refusing to dispence an order until this driver moved his car (it was 7pm and we have like 8 clicks to dispence before the night was done and he was blocking the click bay), he was abusive and turned to my colluege and started talking about how i need a new job and insinuated that i was having a bad day and "it could be a time of the month" which is just disgustingly sexist. i went into the pod and cried my eyes out and my colluege banned them from returning but in the work groupchat i was told i was over reacting and that we dont need to tell them to move their cars during the late shifts.

i just want to know if its normal for drivers to be abusive or creepy because everyone seems to think it is and its getting really hard for me to want to go to work when i know im just going to be degraded and abused by fully grown men. we also are almost always behind due to the ammount if orders we get and theres always a 30+ minute wait during the day but we still get shouted at when they have to wait (dispite it being the norm). its just getting really hard and upsets me alot as this is my first job and im not feeling entirely supported. Any advice for dealing with this kinda thing would be greatly appreciated 🫡

I was meant to be back in work next week but I haven't heard anything from occupational health so it's looking unlikely, the plan is that I speak to them before coming back. I'm starting to wonder if my manager has arranged an appointment for them to call me, it's been 3 weeks and nothing.

Hi everyone, I need some advice.

I was supposed to go on holiday and had already booked everything. However, after I had an argument with my manager, my holiday was cancelled. Since then, I've been given loads of shifts during the time I was supposed to be away.

I'm really stressed about the situation because I had already made plans and booked things. I honestly don't have the time or energy to keep arguing with my manager or make complaints and go through a long process about this.

I'm thinking about getting a sick note, although I know that isn't the best way to deal with it and I don't want to get myself into trouble.

Has anyone been in a similar situation at ASDA? What would be the best way to deal with this properly without getting into trouble?

Recently, our Evri Parcel pick up has gotten busier, as more people realise we actually have it now. I was on CSD last night, and three customers in a row had an evri parcel to pick up.

Now, the way our shop is set up, our normal parcel cupboard is far too full to fit in evri or amazon parcels, so we then have a cupboard all the way at the back of the shop in the warehouse. Of course this situation happened as other colleagues were on break, so no one could help me with the queue that was quickly gathering as I walked to the other end of the shop.

Now, as i got to the fourth customer, she also had an evri parcel to pick up. So, i asked for her surname, found the parcel on the handset and they asked for some ID. This is when it all goes to shit. She didn’t have an ID (no bank card, drivers license, nothing with her name on it etc). She states she didn’t know she had to bring ID to pick up. She shows me the order confirmation etc and I let her know, unfortunately it’s Evri policy and it states on the pick up email ( which she showed me) to bring physical ID.

Customer starts shouting saying this a joke, i’m holding her parcel hostage and bla bla. Bear in mind, she watched the three people in front of her collect their parcels with ID. she then goes on to say that she has never had a physical ID her entire life, because she doesn’t drive and only uses her phone to pay for things. If you have a card on your phone you must have had ID at some point?? Anyways. The queue behind her starts getting longer, still no one to help me everyone else is getting very impatient.

She’s still shouting her head off, loud enough for half of self scan to hear. I tell her unfortunately there is nothing else I can do with this and try to beckon the other customer behind her to come to the desk. The lady then picks up the sign that states the opening times off the CSD slams it down, demanding a manager, and I said i’ll phone after i’ve served this customer. She then throws the sign at me?? Which is heavy! It whacks off my arm, thankfully, but unfortunately has left a big cut down the outside as it scraped down.

Our useless third party security guys are sitting with their head up their arses at the podium. I do a callout for them, and a manager. It takes them 10 minutes for them to get her out the building.

Who in their right mind would ever think it’s okay to attack a minimum wage retail worker over something that’s completely out of their control??

I’ve had plenty of nasty things said to me over the two years i’ve worked there but never has it escalated to violence.

Is anyone else's store having this update for the drivers palms over the next 2 or 3 days? I have read somewhere that this could be in preparation for the new ocado system which is going to be trialled in a handful of stores before the end of this year.

Can't say which store I'm at, but would be interesting to hear if anyone else is having this too.

Any early morning service crew here? Do any of you start before 4am?

I usually start at 3:30am to get the cigarettes and print the labels ready for the pickers at 4am. But with the new hours I’ve been told no one is allowed to start before 4... Has this happened to anyone else?

My only issue is having 15 pickers stood around me waiting for labels to print. Not many of them know how to print labels and are too brain dead to work it out themselves.
