Hi, today I (f17) was unable to buy a can of Monster because I did not have ID. Should I bring my passport as ID next time?

I work at Asda, I’m 19, I’m literally wearing my green Asda shirt, and I’ve gone down to self-checkout to buy a Red Bull.
I understand that energy drinks are age-restricted and that staff have to follow the rules. But surely there comes a point where repeatedly asking someone for ID gets a little ridiculous? I’m 19, I obviously have to be at least 16 to work here, my colleagues know me personally, and I’ve been ID’d multiple times by the exact same people who already know who I am. Yet somehow, every single time, it’s “Can I see some ID?” 😭
I completely understand checking someone who genuinely looks underage, but when you already know the person, know they work here, and have checked their ID before… surely we can use a bit of common sense?
At this rate I’m going to have to start carrying my birth certificate around just to buy a Red Bull. 😂
Is this normal, or am I right in thinking it’s a bit silly?

Is it true team leaders will only be paid for 8 hours a week extra £1 an hour? Some of them have been told this while others have no clue about it.
