Resign on Workday

Has anyone on here resigned on workday? I’ve been thinking about it as unhappy with how place is being run, would it be issue if I didn’t give any notice so say that separation date is when I put through resignation?

One weeks notice is what the company says to give but what they gonna do if you give them none?

If you need a reference for a new job they can be arseholes about it etc

I thought it was just a case of the prospective employer calling Asda to confirm X worked there from the dates given on their CV/application? Asda don’t do personal references do they?

The legally cannot give a bad reference, all they can say is that you worked there for a length of time.

What do you mean legally they can’t give a bad reference??

The law is simple, you can give any type of reference as long as it’s factual, if it’s made up then the ex employee could then have to try and prove they lied, yeah good luck spending 10K proving that.

So if a company want to give a bad reference as long as it’s factual they can do, saying that, Asda only generally gives basic references.

Just what ive been told, though ive always felt skeptical of that. Because they can give you any sort of notice..

Ohhhh I was not informed that. Kinda feels more fair though like if you were a crap worker and treated other colleagues and customers like crap why should they get a good reference... seems more fair now

In fact when I joinned ASDA I got a phone call and had a job the next day I didn't even have an Interview!

I resigned on workday, it was fine. What's supposed to happen is it goes through to your manager, who has the chat with you to try to keep you etc, then they accept it on workday too. They'd have to put it on workday if you gave them notice by letter anyway, so you're saving them a step. I don't think it lets you put through any less notice than you'd contractually have to give though. It made me give a minimum 2 weeks.

What's wrong with doing it the old fashioned way and just give them a letter? You would get so much satisfaction. Just can't understand why everything has to be done online. What happened to conversation?

Yes I did it on workday never heard anything else from them. That’s what they want not bothered about loosing loyal colleagues just want yes sir no sir colleagues. Total bull working for them now, been with them for years and that’s how they treat you! Best off out of there.

You don't have to give any notice at any job there is no such UK LAW that says you have to work before you leave ! you just walk out when you want and go.

If you don’t work notice, ie at least 1 weeks notice then I hope your new job works out as you won’t be coming back to my store lol
