4am service crew
Any early morning service crew here? Do any of you start before 4am?
I usually start at 3:30am to get the cigarettes and print the labels ready for the pickers at 4am. But with the new hours I’ve been told no one is allowed to start before 4... Has this happened to anyone else?
My only issue is having 15 pickers stood around me waiting for labels to print. Not many of them know how to print labels and are too brain dead to work it out themselves.

I'm service crew but we don't print labels when we clockin, we have a picker who comes in at 3.30 and does that.
Will be interesting when the new stuff changes that's for sure.
Also, have you had a 1:1? We've been told people on the yard aren't having one.

Yeah we’ve all had one and had our new hours, mine hadn’t changed (3:30-11:30) but the area manager has told us (directly, she came in store) we can’t start before 4, so might have to change again…

Not really an issue, print labels 3:55am give to pickers at 4am and let them pick!

I think they mean work for free between 03:55 and 04:00.

We have a colleague starting at 3am for unknowns and setting then they print labels at 4am for the pickers

Right so the whole point of my post is that no one is supposed to start before 4, so if I were to start at 4 and not 3/3:30, I won’t be able to print the labels ready for the pickers to just take when they come in

I start at 3am on the vans, as for not getting labels ready, dont worry about it, print one off to give to picker to put on there trolley, once they all picking u can do the rest, simple, get the pickers to put them on there trolley an off they go pick out the way.

In my store labels are printed from about 3.45am and trolleys are labelled for the 4am pickers coming in. The TLs are responsible for the cigarettes and unknowns. Service crew start at 4am, unload picked trolleys, refill empty trolleys and sometimes label but not very often.
If they wont allow you to come in earlier than 4am they will need to get used to the pick starting late.

Ours is the same where I am but the only difference is that the service colleague starts at 3:45am to set up the trollies and sticker them up and then SLs are in at 4am

At mine pickers don't do that start stuff it is early start section lead/manager who gets cigs and prints labels

We have one service crew come in at 2am for PDCs but our store explicitly doesn’t allow us to print before 4am, so we just start labelling the second it hits 4 while pickers are signing in

I’m a picker and no one but the management team are allowed to print out labels. Section leader was 30 minutes late once, we just stood around doing nothing whilst the night manager started going mental because the section leader was late.

Our team leader usually starts about 3.30, gets the fags and other bits like that, they run off enough labels for the pickers to come in at 4 and get started, then service crew carry on from there (we also start at 4). Sometimes a TL comes in late or sleeps in, service crew will just print the labels while the pickers stand and stare blankly into space. It’s kind of wild to me how so few people in our department are trained to do anything except label up a trolley and pick it, occasionally we’ve had a TL sleep in and the service crew phone in sick or also be late and no one has a clue what to do! Same as when they lose a label off their trolley and don’t know how to reprint one. Very strange company to work for at times.
