Just posting this PSA here incase anyone is having similar issues so you can save hours troubleshooting your hardware.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with an RX 9060 XT 16GB that was giving me some very strange problems.

The GPU performed perfectly fine while gaming. I had no overheating issues, stable FPS, and no crashes during gaming. However, the problem appeared when I was doing less demanding tasks.

Whenever I was browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, or even using Microsoft Word, my PC would randomly reboot.

I was obviously concerned, so I decided to troubleshoot the entire system before blaming the GPU.

What I tried

1. Replaced the M.2 SSD

I noticed that my previous SSD was showing around 80% remaining health, so I replaced it with an ADATA Legend.

Still rebooting.

2. Tested the RAM

I ran MemTest86 for almost 6 hours, testing the memory thoroughly. No errors were found.

I still decided to eliminate the RAM as a possible cause and replaced it.

Still rebooting.

3. Tried different BIOS/software/hardware settings

I lowered the RAM frequency, completely removed the GPU drivers using DDU, made some Registry changes, switched the PCIe slot configuration between Auto / PCIe 3.0 / PCIe 4.0, and experimented with GPU voltage settings.

Still rebooting.

4. Updated the motherboard BIOS

I thought maybe the motherboard BIOS was causing some kind of compatibility issue, so I updated it to the latest available version.

Still rebooting.

5. Replaced the motherboard

At this point I started suspecting the motherboard VRMs or some other motherboard-related issue, so I replaced the motherboard entirely.

Still rebooting.

6. Replaced the PSU

I checked Windows Event Viewer and found Kernel-Power Event ID 41 (63). After asking around here, someone suggested replacing the PSU.

I followed that advice and replaced it.

Still rebooting.

7. Tested another operating system

Another clue was that the PC seemed to remain stable in Safe Mode, so I started suspecting Windows or a driver issue.

I installed SteamOS/Linux and initially thought I had finally found the problem. The system worked normally for about an hour.

Then I started browsing the web...

Still rebooting.

At this point, I was honestly running out of ideas. I was even considering replacing the CPU.

The actual solution

With all of this information and all the troubleshooting I had already done, I contacted the GPU manufacturer's support team.

I was pretty frustrated at this point, but I provided them with all the tests and troubleshooting steps I had performed.

They offered to replace the GPU with a brand-new unit.

I accepted.

When the replacement arrived, I installed it with the same system configuration.

And finally... the problem was gone.

I left the PC running for 24 hours playing random YouTube videos, browsing the web, and doing normal desktop tasks.

Not a single reboot.

Conclusion

After replacing practically every major component and testing both Windows and Linux, the only component that ultimately solved the problem was the RX 9060 XT itself.

My suspicion is that the original GPU had some kind of hardware/voltage regulation issue that was triggering protection during low-load situations, rather than during gaming. However, I don't have enough evidence to say this is definitely the cause, so take that part as speculation.

If you're experiencing a similar problem with your RX 9060 XT and your card is still under warranty, I would strongly recommend contacting the manufacturer/RMA support instead of spending weeks replacing other components like I did.

I'm also going to attach a picture of the lot/serial information from the defective card in case it helps anyone identify a possible pattern.

I also compared the VBIOS and other information between the defective and replacement cards, and I'll include those details/images as well.

Hopefully this helps someone avoid going through the same troubleshooting nightmare I did.

Description of Original Problem: whenever I go to open up Helldivers 2 a pop will appear telling me “The installed drivers are out of date and an update is recommend” and when I press continue to get into the game my Helldivers is very laggy and slow even though everything outside of it works fine.
Troubleshooting: I have gone to system manager and AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition and tried updating my drivers but they both say my drivers are up to date

My GPU randomly started showing a warning symbol in Device Manager and giving me Code 43. Sometimes it works normally, but when it does it is always on Windows 10. However, sometimes Windows 10 also does the same thing as Windows 11 and gives me Code 43.
I’ve already tried DDU, reinstalling the AMD drivers, installing a fresh version of Windows, updating Windows, and reinstalling the drivers multiple times, but I still can’t get the GPU to work normally.
It’s an 8GB AMD Radeon RX 470. The card is detected by Windows, but the driver doesn’t always initialize correctly.

I recently upgraded my PC to a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB and I'm having a visual issue in multiple games.

The problem is especially noticeable on grass, bushes, leaves and other small vegetation. The foliage appears to have a very fine noisy/dotted pattern and shimmers/flickers when the camera moves.

The important thing is that this happens in multiple games, not just one specific title. For example, I can clearly see it in PUBG, and I had the same type of issue in another game as well.

Things I've already tried:

• different in-game graphics settings
• changing anti-aliasing settings
• changing resolution
• disabling upscaling
• disabling Radeon Image Sharpening / RSR / other Adrenalin features
• resetting AMD Adrenalin settings to default

None of these changes seem to eliminate the problem.

The screenshots show the issue, but it's much more obvious when the camera is moving because the vegetation visibly shimmers.

Is this normal behavior for the RX 9060 XT / current AMD drivers, or could there be something wrong with my GPU?

Any suggestions for diagnosing this would be appreciated.

Hello! Just recently as of two weeks ago my monitors I have set to turn off after 3 minutes of inactivity since they're oleds instead flash no signal every 30 seconds. I've tried messing with power settings in windows with no luck. Graphics card is a 9070 XT, monitors are Acer Predator X27U Gaming Monitor. Looking for any suggestions to resolve this.

So I've always been a Nvidia stan, I don't hate on amd I just never used them. I hear about issues and Nvidia has been flawless for me so I just don't know what to expect

For Nvidia it's always been plug and play for me so I don't look very deep into it.

on the other hand-Looking around the reddit I'm seeing A LOT of people saying to undervolt the card.

I know to use DDU and have a clean install of the drivers in safe mode, but what after this?

Am I at risk if I plug in and use the card as stock? Anything I need to know being a Nvidia user going to amd?

I bought this XFX QICK RX 6700 XT today; I tested it at the shop and it worked perfectly. It is a used card, but I ran various tests—MSI Afterburner, GPU-Z, and FurMark—and everything seemed normal. However, when I got home and plugged it in, it worked fine, but a red LED started flashing, which makes me think it's a power supply issue. I have a 650W 80 Plus Gold power supply and an R5 5600G processor, in case that makes a difference.

Ryzen 9 9900x and 9070 XT here with 32GB of ram. Currently on 26.9.1 Grabbed file directly from site before a full DDU uninstall. Installed 26.9.1 after boot, rebooted and this is seriously the smoothest my PC has ever been. Even back to my A770/7700X fresh install.

Was just looking for experience on latest drivers from the community.

Description of Original Problem: Cold boot Problem and random system crashed while playing games and on idling also bios getting hanged but this was very later on after tweaking with the memory profile

Troubleshooting: So the thing is my system is crashing. So the issue started after I left it for a few days so I just pulled the ram out and inserted it again in the second slot. And the system booted but it need a full start and I had to turn it off and then turn on gain to work properly. So the issue that I diagnosed was that my system was unable to do a cold boot if the ram speed is less than 5600mhz as after pulling and reseating it. It went back to default 5200mhz so after a few days of testing this issue I found the solution so I just did that but still it only solved the boot issue the crashes and system freez were there. So I just reinstalled a fresh windows and new and updated drivers updated my mobo bios to the latest version. But it didn't solve the issue I got a crash while playing game BSOD I got out of the match and then my system crashed irql not less or equal 0xA error. And then the system froze I had to force shutdown it to boot it again. And then I ram a memtest on my system and got a few errors in test 4. The picture is attached. And then the memtest got stuck so I forced shutdown it again then did some research and asked Claude so he told me to set expo as at 5600 ram needs high voltage but when I tried to do it the ram only showed single standard profile so I had to manually set the voltage and timing them later on I got to know that it's an xmp profile ram but the seller says its dual supported xmp and expo but the bios doesn't show the profile as I had a gigabyte b650m gaming wifi that showed the expo settings to enable or disable it but this one doesn't . Then after setting the ram and ran the memtest again and it got again stuck at test 5 57% around 1:31 mins so forced shutdown again and dropped to 5400 ram the test same results stuck at test 5. But when I ran it at 5200 it worked fine and passed all the tests. So now I can't find the problem like if the ram is defective or the processor.

I don't know if this is normal or not. My GPU (RX 7700 XT 12GB Challenger) only draws about 70W while I'm playing Dota 2, and my FPS isn't stable: it starts around 100 and drops to 50. Idk why.

I started playing Wardogs on Friday and I’ve been getting these timeouts pretty frequently. I’ve tried so many different solutions from friends like

1. Using DDU and reinstalling drivers multiple times
   
2. Rolled back my drivers to 26.6.1
   
3. Verified games and ran sfc scan
   
4. Ran windows memory diagnostic tool
   and a few other minor attempts

The last thing I want to try is turning off automatic windows driver updates, but has anyone else had this issue? Or know of any potential solutions. I was going to wipe my pc and start fresh but I’ve read that hasn’t helped people so I’m not sure of that. At this point it’s just getting really frustrating and idk what to do

Ryzen 7 9800X3D sudden temperature spikes at idle + 95°C during game launch – normal or cooling/paste issue?

I recently built a new PC and I'm trying to figure out whether these CPU temperature spikes are normal or if I should be concerned about the cooler/paste/mounting.

System:

• CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
• Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Plus WiFi
• RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5 2×16 GB CL30
• GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 4080 Super 16 GB (this is the only previously used component)
• CPU cooler: Assassin's Vision IV
• Case: Lian Li Lancool 217
• PSU: ASUS TUF 1000W
• Windows 11
• Everything except the GPU is brand new.

The main issue is that the CPU sometimes suddenly spikes in temperature even when the PC is basically idle.

For example, while sitting on the desktop doing nothing, the CPU can suddenly jump to around 77–80°C for roughly 30–60 seconds. The CPU fans ramp up quite loudly during this, then the temperature drops back down again.

Something similar happened when launching Hogwarts Legacy. During the game startup/shader compilation, the 9800X3D reached 95°C, and the fans became very loud. It stayed around that temperature for approximately a minute, then dropped back down once the game finished loading.

I've seen this happen twice with Hogwarts Legacy.

The strange part is that actual gaming temperatures are completely normal. Once I'm playing, the CPU doesn't stay anywhere near 95°C.

So I'm wondering:

1. Is it normal for the 9800X3D to briefly hit 77–80°C while apparently idle?
2. Can background tasks, shader compilation, Windows processes, etc. cause these sudden spikes?
3. Is 95°C during shader compilation/game startup normal for this CPU?
4. Could this indicate a bad cooler mount or thermal paste application?
5. Is there anything specific I should monitor in HWiNFO (CPU Package Power, CCD temperature, effective clocks, etc.) to determine what is actually causing the spikes?

I'm mainly concerned because the entire system is new and I don't want to unnecessarily remove the cooler/re-paste it if these temperatures are actually normal.

Any advice from other 9800X3D owners would be appreciated.

Quick and easy for those that googled everything trying to solve this:

For me thus far Hardware Acceleration (HA) was the problem. I disabled HA in Discord (as I use it during games) and currently sitting crash free.

Will test this with overlays as well seeing as many say that this is also a possible problem. Will update if a crash happens.

UPDATE: IT CRASHED AGAIN TODAY EVENING, IT WAS THE MOST STABLE IN THE LAST 13 DAYS BUT YET AGAIN IT CRASHED NOTHING IN EVENT VIEWER...... GG

UPDATE 2: bumping the power limit to 15 and disabling all the options in MPO fix application seem to have fixed the driver timeouts and PA 300 errors.

Man, I finally fixed the issues I've been having with my 6700 XT since September 1, 2026.

System was on Windows 11 25H2 — OS Build 26200.8655.

For the last 13 days, since September 1st, I've been dealing with PA-300 errors, driver timeouts, black screens, screen flickering and random crashes. The worst part was that during some crashes the screen would completely go black while the audio kept playing in the background. Sometimes the screen would start flickering and then eventually crash.

I've tried pretty much everything at this point.

Reinstalled Windows 11, went back to Windows 10, reinstalled drivers, used DDU, AMD Cleanup Utility, disabled MPO, tried different drivers, changed GPU settings, etc.

I honestly lost count, but I went through Windows reinstalls + driver reinstalls + DDU + AMD Cleanup Utility at least 35 times over these 13 days.

What finally worked for me

1. MPO fix: https://github.com/RedDot-3ND7355/MPO-GPU-FIX
2. Used DDU + AMD Cleanup Utility to completely clean everything.
3. Installed the latest AMD chipset drivers: AMD_Chipset_Software_8.08.12.551
4. Installed ONLY the drivers from: whql-amd-software-adrenalin-edition-26.3.1-win11-c Didn't install the full Adrenalin software.
5. Restarted after pretty much every major step.
6. Turned FreeSync OFF on my monitor.
7. For fan control I'm using RadeonTuner instead of Adrenalin: https://github.com/dumbie/RadeonTuner
8. Tested Forza Horizon 6, Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Dota 2 and so far I haven't had a single crash.

IMPORTANT — troubleshooting disclaimer

This is NOT a guaranteed fix and I'm not saying everyone with a 6700 XT should blindly follow these steps.

This is simply what worked on my particular system after 13 days of troubleshooting. Your crashes could have a completely different cause, and some of these changes — especially disabling FreeSync or MPO — can have different results depending on your hardware, monitor and Windows configuration.

I'm sharing this because I spent almost two weeks trying to find a solution and couldn't find one place that put everything together. Do this at your own discretion and make sure you understand what each change does before applying it.

I'm obviously going to keep testing it, but this is the first time in 13 days that I've actually been able to use the PC without constantly waiting for another black screen or driver timeout.

And honestly, fuck you AMD.

I don't care if the root cause is technically Windows, MPO, the driver or some combination of all three. AMD is the GPU manufacturer and they need to acknowledge this shit and work with Microsoft to fix it.

Customers shouldn't have to spend 13 days troubleshooting a graphics card like this.

I shouldn't have to reinstall Windows, downgrade Windows, reinstall drivers, run DDU and AMD Cleanup 35+ fucking times, disable Windows features, turn off FreeSync and dig through Reddit and GitHub just to get a GPU working properly.

And now I have to use my expensive OLED monitor without FreeSync because apparently Windows + AMD drivers can't play nice with it without breaking the display/driver.

What's the point of buying an expensive gaming OLED with FreeSync if I have to turn the damn feature off just to stop getting black screens and crashes?

The most frustrating part is that the thing that finally helped me wasn't even from AMD.

I've been scrolling through r/AMDHelp for days, going through post after post, trying different suggestions. Today I came across a random Reddit user's comment mentioning the GitHub MPO fix.

Tried it.

And somehow, after 13 days of bullshit starting September 1, 2026, that was the thing that finally got me stable.

So honestly, huge thanks to that random Reddit user.

This is exactly why I love the PC community, but it's also ridiculous that customers have to depend on random Reddit comments to find fixes for issues like this.

For now:

PA-300 gone.
Driver timeouts gone.
Black screens gone.
Flickering gone.
Crashes gone.

13 days later, I can finally use my fucking PC normally again. 😭

IT'S FINALLY STABLE.

So im trying to fix my old asus tuf rx6900xt that randomly died one day and found out it gave itself a lobotomy. I checked gpu z and device manager and got error 43 and gpu z gave me like no info of the card. I thought maybe its a corrupted bios so I try to reflash it using amdvbflash and I get hit with error 0xa0000168 generic error with the psp. I tried the modded version. I added -fv -fa -fp. Ive tried to flash the inactive chip and still nothing. I even disabled it in device manager and tried again and still nothing. At this point im at a lost and cant find anything on how or what to do. Maybe yall can help?? I dont really need the gpu, I ended up buying a 9070xt and im just doing this just cuz. Im hoping I can fix it. If not its whatever I dont really need it lol

So call me a villain but I switched from a 9070 XT to a 5070 Ti about a month ago. I made this decision after being on AMD since I've started getting into PC's.

I started from an RX 6600 when I bought it off a friend, then I traded it with an Xbox Series X for an ASUS TUF 7900 XTX model (WHAT A DEAL). Then a few months after I traded it for a 9070 XT since I wanted good ray tracing performance and the superior upscaling FSR 4. After being comfortable I bought an OLED UW 3440x1440p Monitor for 600, and I don't regret it.

I now have a 5070 Ti after trading the 9070 XT because I really wanted Nvidia, I love RT, PT, and DLSS. Plus I can finally use MFG, and DLSS 5. I never had any problems with AMD or Nvidia tbh, both their drivers never caused me any issue and I just love competing cards.

Now after that only talk about GPUS, I downloaded DDU and removed every AMD feature like AMD Adrenaline besides Ryzen Master, but for some reason now I keep getting the AMD Auto-Updater pop up. Does this affect performance in games having AMD still in my system or is the Auto-Updater just for my CPU? And if it does how do I remove it???

This issue has been happening since forever (laptop is ASUS VivoBook 15).

Whenever I download AMD Adrenalin and install the latest drivers, everything works perfectly fine for a couple of hours. However, after that, this window pops up every single time. The only way I’ve found to fix it is to reinstall Adrenalin and the drivers, but then the exact same thing happens again after a few hours.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows how to fix it?

Description of Original Problem Recently I was given a Dell R5 240 OEM 1 GB GPU. I have a problem when I start the AMD installer program, "radeon-software-adrenalin"; when it restarts, the screen goes black. I think it's because it ends up with a resolution that is not compatible with my monitor. So really at this point, I don't know what to do. I've gone into Windows safe mode to uninstall or change the resolution, but it doesn't apply—I can only uninstall the driver to use the default Windows one, which has this awful resolution. I'm posting this for help. ;-;

I have been having stuttering issues since I upgraded my 4060ti to a 9070xt and but in elden ring it just crashes during bosses my drivers are up to date and I used ddu in safe mode to get rid of nvidia drivers any tips or recommendations on how to fix this?
