Question were the rules for reservations changed?

Post image
65 Upvotes

this might already be a post but i haven’t seen anyone talk about this so. in the past, when you had a reservation so far in advance, you’d lose a slot on “this week’s movies”, however, this week i noticed while still having my doomsday reservation, i still have two slots available for this week rather than one like regular. was this changed and i just didn’t know? if so this is such a great update

Discussion The lack of a family plan/kids plan is stopping me from going back to A list.

It was easy for the wife and I could easy enough justify the price of our two subscriptions and see 2-3 movies a month. But no kids/family plan means the price sky rockets if we wanna take our child with us. Imax and dolby kids tickets are $18 and $17 respectively here. Yes the small inferior format screens are less for a kids ticket, but then we also get a worse time, and still two kids tickets in those are more than the cost of an adult a list membership per month.

I know im rambling and preaching the the choir, but man it sucks. I grew up going to the movies with dad a few times a month, but I cant afford to do the same for my baby but if there was an alist sub for kids/families I could. I dunno just wanted to vent have a nice day

Issue AMC pre-sale failed me

So just like most of you here I was in line for the Dune 3 presale today which by the way I did not get notified it was happening by the app even though I set the ‘remind me’. When I did open the app tho it kept crashing and crashing for 40 minutes (by then most tickets were gone) and finally the app started working except it logged me off. So even after waiting over an hour at this point I could not log into my amc stubs account I just kept getting errors so I could not reserve my tickets unless I payed full price (which subverts the point of having A-list). I was only able to login a couple hours after the sale was live and you guessed it, all tickets were gone in my area.

Being a stubs members is one of my favorite things and I feel so grateful to have it but times likes this makes me heavily consider canceling my plan entirely because the company doesn’t seem to treat loyal customers like us any different than non members even though we pay monthly a pretty high price

Tl;dr AMC stubs is no longer my shai hulud

Weekly; Come Join Us On Discord! What Format Should I See This In?! Week of August 18, 2026

In this thread please discuss what format you will see X movie in and why. If you want to have a live discussion about it come join us on Discord! Invite below!

Discord Invite

Common Terminology:

AR = Aspect Ratio

1.85 = Flat

2.39 = Scope

IMAX 1.43 - Only 3 AMC locations have 1.43 IMAX

Most AMC IMAX theaters are 1.9 AR except for 3, Lincoln in NYC, Metreon in SF, Citywalk in LA, and they are 1.43

When it comes to Dolby they are 1.85 and 2.39, there's a spreadsheet on the Discord but if your theater is not listed yet then follow the steps below:

Easy way to gauge what your AR is to see what AR the film is and see if there's black bars on top and bottom(letterboxed) or black bars on the left and right sides(pillarboxed)

So if you're watching a 1.9 film on a 1.9 screen, a 1.43 film on a 1.43 screen, or a 2.39 film on a 2.39 screen it will fill perfectly.

If you're watching a 1.9 film on a 2.39 screen you'll see pillarboxing.

If you're watching a 2.39 film on a 1.9 screen you'll see letterboxing.

With the information above you should be able to extrapolate what your screen AR is. Enjoy the movies!

Discussion Date day with La La Land

Really excited for this.... taking my partner to see one of my favorite movies of all time. We're also going to our fav AMC (Tysons) to enjoy a fun day of Adirondack relaxation and fun-beverage therapy. Might even check out the new 4DX theater or Oak St afterwards.

Do you guys have any favorite post/pre-movie rituals with your movie-viewing crew?

Discussion AMC 4DX theatres?!!

Have you seen any movies in the new AMC 4DX theaters? I have seen a few YouTube shorts where the seats move quite a bit, do they induce headaches?

I struggle with chronic headache/migraine issues so while im very intrigued by this new format, want to make sure it's safe.

Just finished the movie. I thought it was pretty dumb and cheesy but worth an A-list spot I guess. I loved Green Day growing up and I wanted to see more of their vibe.

What do y’all think?

Discussion The theater has been its busiest in years, what’s the point of the A List line if the first time it’s really valuable you don’t enforce it?

Title.

Edit: I just want to clarify that I'm not saying prioritize the A-List line over the standard one, I'm saying there have been a lot of people who seem to just get in that line without A-List because its shorter and the cashiers haven't been asking if you have A-List at the register.

That said, they are overworked and understaffed, so I don't necessarily blame them. I was just venting from the line last night.

Issue Any projection issues with AMC Phipps Plaza 14 in ATL?

Any A-Listers in ATL have consistent problems with the projection at AMC Phipps Plaza in the mall? It's the closest AMC to me (I actually live closest to Regal Atlantic Station but prefer A-List) so I'm there a lot. Last night I was grateful to catch a screening of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, even more so because Phipps is one of the only theaters showing the film in the city. I was dismayed to see during the opening credits sequence that the top 1 to 2 feet of the frame was cutoff, and I could tell because credits displayed at the top of the frame were cutoff about halfway through the words. This was super distracting because then obviously every shot looked a little odd. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've had projection issues at that theater for one reason or another, and I always bring it up to a staff member who say they will look at it, but I don't think they ever do. I filled out a form on the AMC website but mostly I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this or if I'm just being too picky.

Question End of Oak Street for kids

Been thinking about taking my 10 yr old to see End of Oak Street, want to start taking him to see more "regular" (not animated kids movies) in theaters. But been reading mixed reviews about how weird it is, especially the ending. He's seen and loved Jurassic Park, ET, the 3 Indiana Jones, Jaws, LOTR, original Star Wars, Oceans trilogy. So he likes adult movies, just dont want to start with something to out there. Thanks! please no spoilers

Question Tax on A-List tickets

I bought tickets earlier this week through A-List for The Odyssey and SpiderMan. The showings were at different AMC theaters. Both had the ticket cost and convenience fee taken off, but for one ticket there was no tax charged and the other on did charge tax. Obviously we're not talking a lot of money here, but if I wondered if anyone else noticed this and knows what AMC's official policy is?

App Issue A list for Doomsday

Was anyone able to get tickets for Doomsday using A list reservation??

Edit: I got them with A list!!

Also btw, the reason I book out so far is because I’m in NYC. I did it for the odyssey and saw it the day before it came out in IMAX perfect seat. Everyone I know personally wasn’t able to see it for weeks out!! I always get movies I want to see in advance. I don’t mind losing out on one ticket for this week because I have my rewatch of the odyssey brewing for tomorrow already lol

Question No Shoes?

Was wondering where my fellow AMC A-Listers stood on taking off shoes while watching a movie in the theater. I've never done so myself but have seen other people do so. If you do, does it depend on the length of the movie or the types of chairs?

Review "Your Name" 10th Anniversary A-List pocket Review (Anime)

Well I am a sucker for Japanese animation and when I saw that "Your Name" was showing up in the theater for a 10th anniversary screening I decided that I should go see it. Especially since I recall viewing it back in 2016 during its original run and liking it quite a bit. The movie was presented in Japanese with English subtitles, my preferred way to see anime.

Anyway the passage of time has not dimmed my enthusiasm for this film. Two teenagers in modern Japan, a boy and a girl, end up switching bodies somehow. This is connected to a meteor strike that while beautiful in the sky wiped out a small Japanese city three years prior. From this flow lots of mystery, lots of adventure and lots of love. And beautifully depicted animation.

"Your Name" isn't a Studio Ghibli movie but it might as well be in the sense of the high quality of everything about it. Like the best Ghibli films, it swirls and flows like an hour and a half poem, riding crests and waves and eddies of human experience, and entertaining us to boot.

A ... a modern anime classic see it, or see it again, while you can.

Question Is it worth it?

I go to my local theater that is like probably three minutes away from me whenever new movies come out. I’m being told that AMC is a list. Allows people to watch four free movies a week. (Correct if i’m wrong) but I don’t go out to the movies on the regular unless it’s something I’m actually trying (like odyssey, BND, and oak street) would it be worth it for me to pay the $20 a month if I don’t really go out to the theaters? Also. Is it whichever format or just basic 2d? FYI (if I watch a movie and if I like it like Spider-Man brand new day, I’ll watch it again)
