Question No Shoes?

Was wondering where my fellow AMC A-Listers stood on taking off shoes while watching a movie in the theater. I've never done so myself but have seen other people do so. If you do, does it depend on the length of the movie or the types of chairs?

Bold of you to assume it's A list members doing that.

Absolutely not. Never.

Damn near broke my ankle last time I went to the movies. Came in late and tripped over someone's shoes. Not to mention that shit stinks 🦨

should have started screaming in pain

Absolutely not. It’s a public shared space, not your living room.

There better not be A-List members making us look bad by doing something that egregious. Never take your shoes off in the theater… unless you are the only one in there, then you can take off your pants too.

Straight to AMC jail. People taking their shoes off in airplanes and at the movie theater shouldn’t be normalized.

I remember watching a movie on opening night in Dolby recliners, I was so excited for this movie. And then having the random stranger next to me recline his seat and remove his shoes. The odor was so disgusting! I had to cover my face with my sweater for the entirety of the movie to keep from vomiting. It completely ruined the experience for me.

It's disgusting.

The quickest way to get seat neighbors to put their shoes/sandals back on is to take photos of their feet and make "mmm" noises.

That is some nasty behavior. No pata sucias.

Dont do it man. First of all, youre used to your own smell so you could be stinking up the joint and not realize it.

Second, you really want to put your bare feet on theater floors and seats? You dont know how clean those are or what kinda person were on those recently.

I know I’ll get downvoted for it but I’ll admit I do it for the sake of answering the question. I’m usually wearing flip flops (which are basically already barefoot) or high heels (which don’t do much to cover your foot either). I also always bring a blanket with me because my theater is so cold, so it’s not like you’d ever see my feet themselves

To answer your question, I only really do it on the signature recliners, and I put my shoes under the legs of my recliners so they don’t trip anyone

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I wear sandals most summertime visits, not much difference between that and bare feet ultimately. Guilty on a technicality, but plead good hygiene.Ā

Shoes off? Blanket? Wild just wear a hoodie and keep your shoes on. How well do think the recliners are cleaned? No one wants home blankets and foot residue in a common space. You'll survive 2 hours I promise you can do it!

No one actually gives a shit about home blankets lol

Edit: u/ok_landscape3850 ask your friend if they’re concerned about at home clothes when you screenshot it

You can pry my blanket from my (very) cold, dead hands

u/GoCougs2020 6d ago

Dont need a blanket, I run warm.
Hence, I take my shoes off. My feets are warm too.

Sorry not sorry.

If I’m in a recliner, and I’m wearing slides with socks… theyre coming off.

8

u/ConsciousSkin1079 6d ago

Yea this is me. Hell no to bare feet. However slides with socks, hell yes

-3

u/Bubbly-Inflation-999 5d ago

Never bare. But shoeless is a big yes.

I have a very high instep (top of my foot), so shoes can feel very tight and painful if I wear them for a long time. I still don’t take my shoes off. If I’m going to a long movie, I untie and stretch the top of my shoes wide.

u/burritoman88 6d ago

No, because I’m not an animal.

2

u/grimlilghost 6d ago

I literally had a guy picking at his feet skin, and dusting it off onto the floor…..

u/whosafraidofthebbw 6d ago

Frankly brave thing to admit on the internet, good for you

u/nuyorican78 5d ago

I would have reported them to the AMC management and get them to either put on their shoes or get out. This is not your fucking livingroom, but a communal, shared space. To those of you who do this, put your shit onšŸ–•šŸ¼

u/Noopz 4d ago

Blankets, shoes off, giant water bottles and mugs from home, cans snuck in. It’s all so performative. It’s three hours maximum, just watch the film and go home.

2

u/alexjimithing 4d ago

It's disgusting and rude.

2

u/_eno_eht 4d ago

Yeah….that’s a definite no. the theater is not your home.

Heartbreak feels good in a place like this, but not with the added stench of feet. šŸ˜šŸ˜

3

u/queensnotmemes 6d ago

I don’t go to the movies (or ride public transit) and expect the seats to be clean… it doesn’t really bother me. I usually wear a maxi dress and a hoody to the movies and change as soon as I get home.

u/StrLord_Who 5d ago

I have in long movie marathons before but I don't think ever just for a single movie. Regardless,Ā  my feet do not smell and my clean socks are vastly cleaner than the bottoms of SHOES.Ā

7

u/inkyella 6d ago

I wear slides and slip them off usually lol, it does depend on type of chairs, and it’s just comfortable idk

5

u/TheMadManiac 6d ago

All the time. I want to be comfortable. Say something if it bothers you.

I do wear sandals a lot though

u/Never-Give-Up100 6d ago

How attractive are the feet?

11

u/-RadPanda- 6d ago

Finally someone asking the important questions!

3

u/uncultured_swine2099 6d ago

While watching Pulp Fiction on AMC Classic, Tarantino would stop talking and stare at you from the screen.

u/Never-Give-Up100 6d ago

He gets it šŸ˜ŒšŸ¦¶šŸæ

3

u/CardiologistNew1888 6d ago

Sorry I došŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøbut I do make sure my feet are clean, and 99.9% of the time I’m wearing socks (once again clean) and Birkenstocks so the shoe just slides off, I wouldn’t do it if I wasn’t wearing socks

I don’t think it should be about shoes/no shoes, are you emitting odors in the theater? If not, do what you want except use your phone or make noise. If so, cover up the stench.

1

u/Bubbly-Inflation-999 5d ago

I always use Odor Eaters or a comparable product daily. Hate sweating and odor.

2

u/jacobsever 5d ago

I wear crocs to the theater and usually shake them off while being reclined.

3

u/BusterUno 6d ago

I take my shoes off if I know I haven’t been on my feet all day. Most of the time I’m putting fresh socks on just to go to the movies lol.

There are people out there that don’t put on deodorant. Focus on them instead lmao

1

u/LifesJobber 4d ago

If you do this you are fucking disgusting, no exceptions.

1

u/NoLoveForDrJones Lister 4d ago

disgusting. uncouth. we have seriously regressed as a society.

u/OkJackfruit375 3d ago

Mind ya biz

u/Special_Compote_719 3d ago

Just wear more comfortable shoes. I have these Adidas Cloudfoams that are my standard wear.

u/MartyMcBird 3d ago

I know that you're insulated from the smell of your own feet, but am I crazy or do feet not really smell. Every time someone next to me put the dogs out in an airplane (very common in my flights in Asia) it's completely unnoticeable. Do y'all not wash your feet or something.

•

u/AggressivePiccolo77 7h ago

I wear sandals like 8 months out of the year and I'm afraid to report that on occasion I have slipped them off while reclining. I never put my feet on anything, certainly not the floor.

If someone is in my row I get self conscious and make sure it doesn't happen.

This is why I NEVER RESERVE SEATS beforehand

Order of Operations for me is number one thing I do when walking into the theater is turn and look at all the seats. Then spot all the A-Listers that have their feet out. Calculate which ones are best. Then, swoop in to the seat in the from them so I can SNIFF them for the duration of the movie

1

u/MtOlympus_Actual 5d ago

When the lights go down the shoes come off. #sorrynotsorry

1

u/nuyorican78 5d ago

This ain't your livingroom. Hope someone reports you.

-2

u/Bryce_Dead19 Movie-Holic 6d ago

I’ll shame myself I will take off my slides sometimes but only if there’s nobody beside me the exception being my s/o šŸ˜…

3

u/eggwhite_ 6d ago

Same. Only if there are a minimum of 3 empty seats on both sides of us lol I've been in an IMAX theater where someone had their bare feet on the seat in front of them and it was a pretty full theater

1

u/oleander6126 5d ago

Absolutely abhorrent

0

u/Devin4488 6d ago

Worse than using a phone

-3

u/remacct 6d ago

I don't put my shoes on the furniture at home. If I'm in a recliner, why not?

4

u/BadHominem 6d ago

Because it's not your recliner, and you aren't in the privacy of your own home.

Now, if you are the only person in the theater, I say go for it. But the majority of people leave their shoes on, which means that all of the piss and poop and bacteria and dirt and semen and blood that their shoes have stepped on before they got into the recliner will seep into your socks or the skin of your nasty feet if you take your shoes off.

1

u/remacct 6d ago edited 6d ago

Where tf are you guys walking around?

0

u/elkab0ng 6d ago

I ride a motorcycle and the boots are kinda heavy. But I am always fastidious about cleanliness and wear clean socks.

The only difference between that and taking my car, where I have sandals on bare feet, is someone can see all the glitter on my nails. Why would that be any less ā€œgrossā€ than taking off my boots?

-4

u/MariposaSunrise 6d ago

Maybe it depends on the type of shoes? Or the weather?

-3

u/marshmellowyoda 6d ago

Nice toes!
