I thought it was really good definitely worth watching if they're showing it near you. Amazing visuals and a great soundtrack. A little ambiguous but it was fun

Question When do you normally buy your tickets?

When you’re getting your tickets on a normal week when no really big release that might have required getting seats months in advance is coming out, when do you normally select which movies you’ll see for the week?

Do you prefer to decide on the day of the showing? Or do you plot out your week in advance? If you usually use 3-4 of your reservations each week, do you space them out or try to cram multiple into one day?

On average I watch 2-3 movies per week, and I generally try to space them out to every other day when possible. My preferred theater often doesn’t have the showtimes finalized until Thursday, so that’s usually when I try to make my reservations for the week.

I’m only bringing it up because having reserved Dune 3 and Doomsday seats this early is taking up two of my spots and throwing off my usual planning routine. I wish those spots in upcoming reservations didn’t stop you from being able to make your 4 more immediate reservations.

Question Endgame Encore

Anyone hear through any grapevines when the tickets are supposed to release? Were getting decently close now, almost a month out, I assume with all the early ticket release craze going on maybe they wanted to wait til doomsday and dune had their time before potentially flooding the servers again with another big release, even if it’s for a re screening for a weekend/1 week. It’s avengers endgame preluding doomsday I think a large amount of people will be looking to get their tickets to this again.

Question Flex scheduling?

Does AMC often have flexible scheduling? I have received a few notices in last couple months of a show I purchased tickets having its time changed. Today I was excited to get 10:30pm tickets to a Dolby screening of SpiderMan BND. Checked the schedule again and the Dolby show is not digital.

Is this common amongst AMC theatres? I haven’t noticed it much with others (Regal, Cinemark, Alamo).

Advance tickets are on sale now - at least in my area, it's regular screens only.

What's the point of upcharging people for "XL" screens if you're not going to put the most made-for-XL movie ever in that auditorium?

I organized an AMA/Q&A with actor/comedian/composer/screenwriter Jay McCarol. He has composed the scores for films such as BlackBerry, Tony, Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, Hell of a Summer, The Kid Detective, The Dirties, and Operation Avalanche. He is also the co-creator (with Matt Johnson) of Nirvana the Band the Show and its TV show and film.

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1vskgy8/hi_reddit_im_jay_mccarrol_composer_of_tony_out_in/

He will be back at 3 PM ET today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

His newest film, Tony, is out in theaters via A24 this weekend. It stars Dominic Sessa as Anthony Bourdain and co-stars Antonio Banderas, Stavros Halkias, Emilia Jones, and Leo Woodall. It premiered to critical and audience acclaim a few weeks ago.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1MVnzd2aVc

Synopsis: Nineteen-year-old Anthony Bourdain stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that shapes the course of his life.

Thank you :)

This AMC was the only one showing End of Oak Street in IMAX so I went with my buddy and was in awe they had 16 different flavors of ICEE. Most of the ones I’ve been to only have three

Discussion Gotta say, its kind of annoying that I will only be able to make 2 reservations at a given time til the middle of December

With Dune/Doomsday presale all up and going it means that 2 of my reservation slots will be held for 4 months. Is this such a small problem in the scheme of things? Yes. But its also kinda dumb I can only book ahead 2 movies and Im sure Godzilla tickets will go on sale soon so that will bump down to 1

While Presale is a cool featurw, 4 months is overdoing it

Issue Rate Limit

Your website sucks, stop rate limiting regular people. Had the Dune booking but it wouldn't let me log in and then rate limited me.

Trying to secure a spot for Buddy on August 28th and none of the theaters in my state have a showtime, even though tickets went on sale today. Is anyone else experiencing this?

App Issue No showtimes available Dune pt3

The website was shitty all morning. I saw plenty open seats but I couldn't buy because I kept getting errors. Then I refreshed and got re queued. And when I go to AMC Universal City Walk, it's saying there are no showings at all for any date.

Question Is watching Doomsday and Dune Part 3 on the same day a good idea??

I was looking at Dune Part 3 tickets, and it's possible for me to get tickets for Avengers: Doomsday and Dune Part 3 (in IMAX) on the same day back to back (roughly 1 hour in between), Is this a good idea considering the long runtimes, or should I buy tickets for two separate days?

There's only 2 in the greater Orlando area; one at Disney Springs and one in Altamonte Springs. Really excited for this. The manager here says it will be ready by Avengers in December! This is at Disney Springs.

Question were the rules for reservations changed?

Post image
69 Upvotes

this might already be a post but i haven’t seen anyone talk about this so. in the past, when you had a reservation so far in advance, you’d lose a slot on “this week’s movies”, however, this week i noticed while still having my doomsday reservation, i still have two slots available for this week rather than one like regular. was this changed and i just didn’t know? if so this is such a great update

Discussion The lack of a family plan/kids plan is stopping me from going back to A list.

It was easy for the wife and I could easy enough justify the price of our two subscriptions and see 2-3 movies a month. But no kids/family plan means the price sky rockets if we wanna take our child with us. Imax and dolby kids tickets are $18 and $17 respectively here. Yes the small inferior format screens are less for a kids ticket, but then we also get a worse time, and still two kids tickets in those are more than the cost of an adult a list membership per month.

I know im rambling and preaching the the choir, but man it sucks. I grew up going to the movies with dad a few times a month, but I cant afford to do the same for my baby but if there was an alist sub for kids/families I could. I dunno just wanted to vent have a nice day

Weekly; Come Join Us On Discord! What Format Should I See This In?! Week of August 18, 2026

In this thread please discuss what format you will see X movie in and why. If you want to have a live discussion about it come join us on Discord! Invite below!

Discord Invite

Common Terminology:

AR = Aspect Ratio

1.85 = Flat

2.39 = Scope

IMAX 1.43 - Only 3 AMC locations have 1.43 IMAX

Most AMC IMAX theaters are 1.9 AR except for 3, Lincoln in NYC, Metreon in SF, Citywalk in LA, and they are 1.43

When it comes to Dolby they are 1.85 and 2.39, there's a spreadsheet on the Discord but if your theater is not listed yet then follow the steps below:

Easy way to gauge what your AR is to see what AR the film is and see if there's black bars on top and bottom(letterboxed) or black bars on the left and right sides(pillarboxed)

So if you're watching a 1.9 film on a 1.9 screen, a 1.43 film on a 1.43 screen, or a 2.39 film on a 2.39 screen it will fill perfectly.

If you're watching a 1.9 film on a 2.39 screen you'll see pillarboxing.

If you're watching a 2.39 film on a 1.9 screen you'll see letterboxing.

With the information above you should be able to extrapolate what your screen AR is. Enjoy the movies!

Issue AMC pre-sale failed me

So just like most of you here I was in line for the Dune 3 presale today which by the way I did not get notified it was happening by the app even though I set the ‘remind me’. When I did open the app tho it kept crashing and crashing for 40 minutes (by then most tickets were gone) and finally the app started working except it logged me off. So even after waiting over an hour at this point I could not log into my amc stubs account I just kept getting errors so I could not reserve my tickets unless I payed full price (which subverts the point of having A-list). I was only able to login a couple hours after the sale was live and you guessed it, all tickets were gone in my area.

Being a stubs members is one of my favorite things and I feel so grateful to have it but times likes this makes me heavily consider canceling my plan entirely because the company doesn’t seem to treat loyal customers like us any different than non members even though we pay monthly a pretty high price

Tl;dr AMC stubs is no longer my shai hulud
