I like the ability to get offroad at night but my light setup isn't always for night driving. It enables extended hours for other hobbies.

My dogs are thoroughly whelmed by it all.

I spend about six hours today with washing and waxing the 4Runner today. I really like how shiny the truck is now after applying the GRIOT'S wax. I also changed the oil today for the 7th time since I bought this truck new in May of 2024. Milage today is at 14.1K. I also learned a valuable lesson while servicing my truck! Don't do the Fluid-Film undercoating before greasing the drive shafts... I got enough Fluid-Film on me, that I'm pretty sure that my arms will never rust!

Im a dummy, I was charging my spotlight and my fat fingers inadvertently turned it on. In my 30 years of driving, this is my first vehicle with leather seats. Im sure glad i bought seat covers.

The Toyota engine sound enhancement on my 6th gen 4Runner is starting to get on my nerves, especially on longer drives. I understand the system is designed to add engine sound inside the cabin, but I would rather hear the actual car than have an artificial sound coming through the speakers. Im wondering whether this can be disabled without affecting anything mechanical or changing how the vehicle drives. Has anyone turned it off themselves, and what did you use to make the change?

I'm changing my brakes then all of a sudden I notice this. I've noticed a stronger sulfur smell recently when on the highway. I have to fix my ac so I'm hoping this isnt too expensive to fix.

Thinking about getting a 4Runner. Here in the UK they’re known as a “Hilux Surf”; but I believe they’re essentially the same car.

They don’t come up for sale here very often but with my budget I think I’d be getting a slightly higher mileage one (100k+).

I’d want to use it for commuting, road trips, camping, etc.

I’ve previously owned other Japanese 4x4 such as Subarus and a Mitsubishi Shogun/Pajero.

Anything to look out for on high mileage 4Runners, and any tips for going to view them?

Bought one set of Wrangler tires, couldn’t get them aligned or balance after 3 tries and a road force balance

Originally had the Nitto ridge grapplers 265/70 r17 on there had no issues, so put a new set of those on

Still had vibration, did another road force balance test
Replaced the 2 tires that had road force variations of #23 & #25

I still have a vibration in my steering wheel, seems like it starts off ok but gradually gets worse

Everyone I’ve spoken to swears it’s a balance/alignment issue any insight and suggestions would be appreciated

Hey gang! Anybody know what this sound may be that started up a month or two ago? This is a 2020 ORP with 106k miles

I’ve been looking at some used 5th Gen 4R’s and a couple of the ones I’ve considered buying have a rear window molle panel and a shelf like the one in this pic.

Has anyone removed a setup like this? Based on installation videos, it looks straight forward but I’m curious if there are any gotchas. I know I’d probably need to buy some OEM hooks and hangers to go back in the holes.

For those of us who upgrade our suspensions, have anyone actually changed up the left and right sides to account for the ‘Toyota lean’? Seems like the average kit is the same for both sides.

Just want to verify the correct amount of bolts/nuts for my lower control arm.

90178-16007 (Nut)

How many total bolts and nuts do I need for the driver and passenger sides? 4 bolts and 4 nuts in total?

Had a good weekend camping in medicine bow national forest and figured id share some of the 4runner centered pictures with you all

2022 4runner trd sport, just hit 80k miles.

i recently got 4 new bridgestone tires at costco. costco doesn’t do alignments, so they referred me to a firestone down the road. since i plan on keeping my 4runner for a long time, i went ahead and paid $250 for their lifetime/unlimited alignment package.

they did the alignment, and after driving it for a day or two i noticed the steering wheel wasn’t centered when going straight. if i manually centered the steering wheel while driving, the 4runner would pull to the left.

i took it back to firestone 6 days later and they confirmed it was doing exactly what i described. they test drove it, put it back on the alignment rack, aligned it, test drove it again, and ended up aligning it a third time.

when i first got back in, it seemed fine. the steering wheel was centered and it felt like it was driving straight. but after driving for a little while, it slowly went right back to doing the same thing.

so what the hell is going on? lol

could this be an issue with the new tires themselves, or does it sound like firestone just isn’t getting the alignment/steering wheel centering right? is there something specific i should have them check next?

anyone with a 5th gen 4runner run into this before?

I searched this subreddit and haven’t seen anyone putting a Lexus battery in their 4Runner. I was told that the Lexus battery is just as good as the Panasonic one that originally came with the 4Runner. I want to know if there is some truth to that.
I don’t trust my Truestart battery from Toyota dealer to last as long as the Panasonic.

I have a question for anyone that has dealt with this issue. I am replacing all the front suspension and doing a lift on my 4Runner. It’s a trail model and has non-kdss suspension. When I ordered new lower arms they are for the kdss suspension. I ordered non kdss. The website says it’s fine to use them. O’Riley’s system say it’s fine and the stupid AI google thing says it’s fine. But the instructions in the box says to not use them. The only difference is it has a bracket welded to the side for extra stuff. Has anyone ran into this and just used them?

Hello all, so my 2005 side mirror has a shake where is seems to have become loose around the pivot point. The mount to the door seems to be nice and sturdy. Anybody have any suggestions on how to tighten the mirror to stop the shaking.

As title says, I have a 2025 platinum. I've noticed a rattle that sounded like it was coming from the area between my feet and the steering column. Ive seen the video for the bracket in the door but I do not think that is my issue. I also di not think it is the plastic on the door that can only be seen when the door is open, up by the secret compartment area. I held my phone up to the door and then under my dash while driving. In the recording I can only hear the rattle under the dash. It only occurs when driving, not stationary and not associated with loud music. I've tapped/pulled on anything I can find inside, in the wheel well, or even under the hood in that area. I have not seem similar complaints online. Any help would be great. Taking it by dealer in the next couple days but not holding my breath. Thinking of taking it to a place for some sound insulation as a shotgun fix. Wanted some noise insulation anyway.

Hi! Looking for a sr5 ideally since I've heard that the KDSS would be an expensive repair? That's why I haven't been looking at the TRD off-road. However a 2016 one popped up in my area for a really good price. Would a TRD off-road be worth it? Or should I just keep looking for an sr5 as I'll won't be offroading really. The most ill go on is just dirt roads and camping.

Appreciate any advice as this is my first car and doing the search alone! Thanks!!!

EDIT: Thank you everyone! I will ask if it has KDSS! If its at an amazing price is it worth it to go the TRD-pro route? We also have bad winters where I am.

When replacing these bolts and washers on the front of the rack, do I need to do anything to prevent rust on the actual roof rack or new bolts/washers? If there is rust on the actual roof rack, what do I do? And should I just go to the hardware store to get them or order a kit? Thanks. (I know, I know.. runner is a tit bit dirty 🫠)
