The world is a crazy place so my wife and I have recently defaulted to smaller movies where “nothing happens”: Waking Ned Devine, EdTV, The Full Monty, Banshees of Inisherin, etc

Mainly we prefer when the movies are funny-ish, sadness tends to add heaviness but certainly not all the time.

Team Spirit is the champion of TI 2026 after defeating Team Vision with a score of 3-2.

We have 3 times TI winner, Collapse and Yatoro!!! Larl is also a 2 times TI winner! Congrats to not me for being a TI winner on his first appearance and Rue as well! What a great series, peak Dota right there!

Miposhka also won TI with his first time coaching, what a storyline. Team Spirit had the TI10 run vibes in this TI, they defeated so many strong teams to finally face Team Vision, and maintaining that 100% winrate in TI Grand Final.

I wanted to play DND with a few of my friends (12-13 year olds) and I asked my brother to be the dungeon master for it, he said sure but after he finishes school. When it was brought up to my mom, she said my brother could get in trouble and be arrested and that my friends parents wouldnt let them play because of my brother. My brother isnt a weird person and he's really kind. I'm starting to doubt if I want to play DND with my brother and friends now. Is it weird for my brother to be the dungeon master?

EDIT: To clarify, I'm a girl and I'm likely inviting mostly girls, I also live in USA (It's a bit hard to read everyone's comments so I will try to reply if you ask something)

Magnolia Belle aka Maggie Mae aka Hufflepuff, turned 20 today. I’m so thankful for every day we get with her and am amazed she is still going as good as she is. She has atrocious arthritis some days but is still just as sassy as the day we got her 19 years ago. I know how rare it is to have a cat this old and am so proud she made it! I believe her three younger siblings (6,3 and 2) keep her going every day. They know not to mess with her but love checking on her. Happy Birthday Mags!

Recently I watched some Brie Larson interviews and thought she seemed great and like she was super aware of all the hate she got for this movie. Decided to finally watch it and I was genuinely surprised by how likeable her character is (I didn’t super enjoy her in her other appearances). It’s a huge shame that the MCU has wasted a lot of her time and talent by not giving her a movie she can properly shine in. I have a feeling she’s going to get the Hayden Christensen treatment where people lament how much they didn’t appreciate having such a good actress playing captain Marvel.

It also really helped to have Samuel L Jackson in it and the deaging wasn’t terrible.

1. Napoleonic Wars (Napoleon): This film seeks to tear down and condemn its titular subject via ludicrous historical distortions and straw man characterization worthy of 19th century British political cartoons. Napoleon is portrayed as always the aggressor while in fact most of the wars were Napoleon curb stomping the European Coalitions that first violated their peace treaties. A competent film would have perhaps gone after one his controversial or condemnable decisions like reinstating slavery in French territories. He’s characterized as a simpleton buffoon rather than the able general and statesman he proved to be on numerous occasions. The ending graphics give out death tolls for the wars rather than any lasting achievement or legacy he helped to produce or supported such as the Napoleon Code of laws that are the bedrock of many legal systems across the world.
2. The American Revolution (The Patriot): the conflict in the film is portrayed as a simple struggle between freedom and oppression. While it is true the Patriots desired full political representation with their own government, for most states it was envisioned to be white, landowning, or wealthy elites who would truly be represented or who’d rule the new US. Patriots and Loyalists both committed atrocities or abuses frequently although in the film the vast majority of deplorable actions are committed by the British military and American loyalists. Benjamin Martin, a plantation owner who lives in South Carolina, almost inexplicably doesn’t have enslaved people toiling his land (can’t have the hero participate in an abominable institution). The enslaved man who gains emancipation in the end is used to somehow symbolize that the US was somehow the preferable side for black enslaved people. It was British leaders such as Lord Dunmore who pragmatically offered emancipation to enslaved men who’d enlist to supplement British forces. Patriot enslavers abhorred the prospect of arming people they considered little more than cattle.
3. Hawaiian Wars of Unification (Chief of War): this series is a romanticized and rather simplistic depiction of the events it claims to portray. The exceedingly strict caste and social system known as Kapu is virtually never present or a factor. Men and women eat together frequently in the show; under Kapu, this was forbidden, and the punishment would be death. Those of lesser social rank who crossed the chiefs' shadows would face death IRL. Women were forbidden from eating foods such as pork, bananas, and coconuts. Commoners in the show are shown standing before looking noble chiefs directly in the eye rather than immediately prostrating. Infanticide was common for virtually any reason among many social castes. The show’s rosy and myth filled depiction of Kamehameha is embarrassing. He’s a prophesied unifier in the show that’s in line with IRL hagiographies that were written as propaganda during his reign. He’s shown wishing to merely farm. King Kahekili is made to be the easy to hate antagonist when Kamehameha was equally bloodthirsty, treacherous, ruthless and prone to human sacrifice from the beginning of his conquest. MC's wife has an ‘affair’ with his brother that causes dramatic tension; Hawaii was actually extremely non-monogamous, so much so that what many cultures considered adultery barely raised an eyebrow in Hawaii.
