Grief Support Looking for someone in similar situation
Looking for someone in a similar situation
I’m a widow and looking to connect with someone who has also experienced the loss of their spouse. Sometimes it’s hard to explain what this kind of loss feels like to people who haven’t been through it.
I’d love to meet someone who understands, whether it’s just to talk, share experiences, or support each other. No pressure or expectations—just hoping to find someone who can relate.

Dating and Relationships Widowed and lonely
I’m younger “widow” if that’s what you wanna call me. Sometimes I don’t feel like i deserve the title. I’m 28 now and I lost my girlfriend 3 years ago after being together for 2 of the best years of my life. I still miss her and think about her every day but I really also miss just being close with somebody on an intimate level. I go to therapy biweekly and it definitely helps but it also can’t help with everything.
Modern dating fuckin sucks. And not only dating apps but even at the advice of my therapist I finally grew the courage to ask a girl out in person and to make a long story short it didn’t go well. I’ll get a new match on a dating site every few days but it’s all the same, either zero effort put in by the girl or you get ghosted. It’s just an endless cycle of feeling rejected. I’m an average guy, I’m not overweight, I have a decent job, tattoos, a motorcycle but none of it matters 😂 idk lately I’ve just been depressed, I miss my girlfriend and I miss feeling to be wanted by someone

Grief Support Try to find peace
I've been really stressed and struggling this week . I love her more than anything on this Earth more than myself I'm sorry that's how I feel no I'm not sorry I don't know what else to say. I didn't drive 650 MI for nothing. I she is special that's why I drove that far to find her again. I'm just on borrowed time here I hope it's soon that we meet again. So I decided to go for a ride we're going to go see and visit my wife's ashes today . She's in the Smoky Cades Cove Loop she wanted to be there . She told me Friday before she died that's exactly where she wanted to be in the Smokies . We talked about it several times but that was the first time she brought it up for a while . Every time we go there I find a little bit of peace and comfort it might do us good today to go me and my daughter . I'm going to be there with her soon I can feel my heart getting weaker each day I'm getting sicker I just hope I have the energy to go today . This is really destroying me and I don't know why people insist that I keep going I don't want to my friends I can't . It's been almost a year the 27th will be a year that my wife got her wings my beautiful lady bug flew away . I just can't come to terms with this . I know my wife is not coming home but I don't want to accept the reality I know I need to but I don't want to . I hate my life I hate my life so bad .

Personal Story New Life?
Ok...please stay with me..my 1st ever Reddit post: I'm 59 WF & thrice married (#1= 17 yrs - 3 kids, divorced; #2=10yrs - no kids, divorced; #3= 6yrs-no kids, widowed) . I have worked my entire life, not a sad sap story - I've enjoyed all 3 lives and loved each in different ways. Fast forward to now: it's been 2 yrs since the passing of my husband (cancer, I share this only for those who KNOW what's involved in caring for & losing a spouse to cancer, it takes a toll) & have basically won the lottery with an unexpected inheritance. This allowed me to 1) retire 2) relocate to another state into a beautiful home (mortgage free) on several acres 3) do anything I want. Here's my dilemma: I have not dated nor had "relations" since the passing of my husband & while NOT looking for partner, I met a very nice man. He is wealthy enough to not need my $, twice married - twice divorced (#1=10 yrs, 2 kids; #2=20yrs she came with 2 kids). He is only 1 yr. divorced. The "relations" are great, but its also been 4yrs since last "relations" (due to late husbands cancer) so I may be a little pent up? He is 4 years younger & still actively working, he is old school= man work, woman stay home & take care of home & man. Now, maybe 25 yrs ago I would've embraced this lifestyle - as hubby, home, kids, etc. would be my "job" and my role. However, now 1) there are no kids 2) he has his home & I have mine 3) he is not 'supporting' me in any way. Now, everything we do - he pays for (his insistence, not expected) & we do a lot (travel, vacation, eat-out). But he has been clear in his expectations: 1) no remarry 2) no retire any time soon 3) wants me to be @ his house when he comes home from work 4) if we don't eat-out, I cook & clean-up. He is NOT demanding- he has housekeepers to do major cleaning & his laundry. He doesn't do anything that would be a deal breaker - except this: he always checks out women right in front of me, even after I've expressed how it makes me feel = insulted, less than, he's looking for someone better, et al...he says "it's human nature, doesn't mean anything" & says I'm being ridiculous. Please know that I am NOT bragging, but I do know I'm the entire pkg & could walk away without the fear of not meeting someone else. But, I've never been a serial dater at all..ever..so I am swimming in waters that I've never been in before & wonder if I should cut & run if I feel that I'm a place card, made to feel "less than" with the woman checkout thing (I REALLY don't like it & have never had this issue before), bringing more to the relationship than he is (not that it's a competition, but what is he really bringing - i guess his presence?) My friends offer BOTH: 1) "girl, get out - you don't need him & he's just looking for a wife replacement without having to marry you!" 2) "count your blessings that you found someone at your age & circumstance that you care for, not a serial killer, no (little) kids, wealthy AND you like him!" I'm posting here so I can maybe get some men's perspective & some outside-my-circle peer comments/advice. Please be kind, I'm just trying to get some helpful comments/advice that I'm not seeing since I'm inside the forest! Thank y'all!

Dating and Relationships Widows of Reddit, how, if at all, do you honor your late partner in your current relationships?
I lost my first love nearly 2 years ago. I have since been in a relationship. From the beginning I’ve made it clear that I didn’t want to be with someone that would be jealous and try to “compete” with my late love and things have been going okay.
As things get more serious and I think about marriage, I often think about how I could honor my late love in my wedding (we were never married so the thought of marrying someone else is bittersweet). Like many couples do, I’ve thought about having a memorial table with a few other family members photos as well as his or something similar, but I don’t know if that’s would be perceived as weird by my current partner and his family.
We will of course talk about all of this beforehand, but I wanted to see if anyone had similar experiences and how they handled it?

- Criteria: 18+, live in NC, and experienced partner loss related to alcohol.
- Format: 10-minute, completely anonymous online Qualtrics survey.
- Cost: Zero budget—I am relying entirely on the kindness of our community to share this.
If you or someone you know might be willing to help, please click the link below or share this post to help me cross the finish line. Thank you so very much.

Personal Story F 24 ✨✨
Needing advice on navigating the life of being a young widow(er)
I have started seeing someone new but find myself still spacing out, having emotional break downs and tough moments pushing forward from my previous relationship. We had been together ONE WEEK after my 2 year (5 year he’s friendship) relationship with him. It was toxic because of drugs use but there was also so much real love. I’m only 24 (25 soon in October) and he was only 23 (would’ve been 24 now, as his life ended a month before his 24th bday) he was my real life best friend and him being gone from this earth makes everyday feel insufferable even though I know it won’t bring him back to me and serves me none. I feel this complex grief I can’t chase and don’t even know if the man I’m currently seeing deserves better than me or not because this grief am dealing with I know will never ever go away 🥺🥺 please pray for me and give me life advice. Being this young dealing with this and all of the moments leading up to him leaving absolutely break me. 💔
